SSD drives are fast but when you come from a mechanical hard drive, you notice the difference. The operating system loads in under a minute from cold boot. This product works well and I expect it to be very reliable. You can format it and have it work with any OS. Worth every penny

I have been using these for several HP Compaq PCs I own and they are so far above the old hard drives I had the os installed onto. These work great and are a lot quicker and when I purchased this item when it was listed at a lower price it was well worth it. I purchased a metal mount to place this onto when installing into the tower because it is a lot smaller than the standard drive.Had no issues with any of these drives and would definitely recommend.

This is a great drive for my old Dell 2012 laptop. It boots Linux Mint Mate 21.2 on this old machine (my main driver) ready to go in 20 secs. Why would i need a new laptop? I was using a 512Gb Silicon Power and ordered their 1Tb SSD. Then i read that this Crucial BX500 was much better quality than most other SSD, so i cancelled the SP drive and ordered this one. I certainly have (almost) no complaints but i can't tell myself, as the SP one still booted in 20 secs too. Maybe it will last much longer as since it was only about 5 bucks more i figured it was worth trying out. It works great.Now the only slight complaint i have is that the retaining screw hole is very slightly misplaced so that, when i fit the plastic fascia with the screw fitted to the drive, it does not quite reach so it will not boot. To be fair, this is not the only drive that this has happened with on this Dell but the SP one DID work fine. So i just locate and push in the drive with my fingers and leave the trim off and then it works fine. It's a bit annoying but since i rarely move the laptop anyway it's not worth returning. It does lose a star, though, for that.Other than that one ding i am extremely happy with this drive and it does everything i need. By the way, i can recommend Rescuezilla thoroughly for anyone wishing to clone their drive. It is free, has a GUI (unlike Clonezilla, which is great too), just uses a USB stick and worked perfectly for me to clone my 512 to 1Tb drive. Now i have tons of room again.

My wife has an HP laptop that's been running slower and slower. After replacing her HDD with this SSD, it's now very fast again. I'm sure there's more I need to look at to debloat and optimize Win11 on her laptop, but this alone has taken the heat off and now I can take some time to work on other issues. One problem I was facing and didn't know it until I tried to clone her old drive onto the new SSD is that her old hdd was actually getting a ton of disk errors, do bad that cloning failed... Fortunately I had an image backup from her old drive and was able to restore it flawlessly to the new ssd with Acronis True Image. BTW, Crucial SSDs come with a free version of Acronis tailored for Crucial, one of my favorite tools. I do partition image backups often, mainly to recover from my own blunders and to repair virus infections.

I bought this drive to upgrade from a HDD in a Dell Inspiron 3668. It worked flawlessly with the sabrent 2.5" SSD & SATA hard drive to desktop 3.5" bay bracket. Easy cloning process with Clonezilla and Rufus, it makes a massive difference. What was a 5+ minute boot time is now 20 seconds!
