Fits really well and solidly made
I've been needing a hitch ball mount with not quite as much drop as the one I have and this one worked out perfectly. I pull a large bass boat sometimes and the tongue was always about 2" below level. With this mount, it's almost dead level. This hitch ball mount came fully assembled and also it comes with a locking hitch pin. No more worrying about having your ball mount stolen when you're parked somewhere and your vehicle is unattended. The pin lock uses a regular key, I prefer the round, barrel-type of key but that's just my preference. You don't have to use the key to lock the pin, you just push the lock part on the pin and press the lock button down. It also comes with several rubber o-rings in order to fill the gaps on either side of the lock pin so it won't rattle. I checked to be certain the ball was tight, I didn't check the torque specs but I can tell you, I couldn't tighten it any more with just a long wrench. The assembly seems well made, it's fairly heavy and substantial feeling but you can't really judge the quality of metal just by feel. That said though, I believe it is strong enough to hold up to anything you need to tow with it, within its rated capacity of course. I've owned several trailer balls over the course of time and the chrome can start out looking pristine and shiny but after using them for awhile, they always seem to rust, scratch and look terrible. But, this is the nature of a product such as this because of the wear and tear it is subjected to. I just hope this one will stay shiny as long as possible but it is no mark against it if it eventually does rust and the chrome peel; all trailer balls will do that with use. The hitch mount itself is black powder coated and will probably hold up pretty well too. As stated in the description, this mount will give you about a 4" drop but the are some situations where you might need a rise on the mount. This one will give you 2-3/4" if that's the way you need to go. The trailer ball has a 1" thick shank which supports its rated capacity of 7,500 lbs. and the 750 lbs. tongue weight. I like a trailer ball, such as this one, which is machined with the shank and ball all being one piece as opposed to the trailer balls which are hollow that you screw a large bolt up into. Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality, fit and finish of this trailer ball mount. I think it will last for many years and serve your purposes well anytime you need to hook up and tow something.
