Marriage Vacation Hardcover – June 5, 2018

If you love the TV Land series Younger, this book is a MUST READ. It's a great tie-in to the characters and storyline. If you're not familiar, Younger is about a 40-something year old woman named Liza who pretends to be 20-something in order to get a job at a publishing house after her divorce. Based on a novel, the series was developed for television by Darren Star, also famous for Sex and the City and Melrose Place. Liza succeeds (for the most part), but has to play the part of a millennial in all aspects of her life, which proves to be difficult at times. By seasons 4 and 5, the company she works for ends up buying and publishing the book "Marriage Vacation." As it turns out, the "author" Pauline is the wife of the head of the company. The story is based on her real life, when she took a "vacation" from her marriage by running off to Thailand to "make a difference," to rediscover herself, and to write again. She does this with no planning, no notice, and barely an explanation, leaving behind her husband and two daughters.When I first started reading "Marriage Vacation," I took Pauline's side. I could see her point of view. She's lost herself. She got married, became a wife to a successful business man, became a mom to two kids...and just lost every part of herself as an individual. I could definitely feel for her and sympathize with those feelings. I think we've all felt lost at one point and wanted to get away from everything.On the other hand, there comes a point where you make your own choices and have to be responsible for the choices you've made. She chose to get married. She chose to have children. You can't just walk away from your responsibilities, not expect there to be consequences, and have everyone just waiting for you to return to your normal life after you've gone and had your fun.The novel was an easy, interesting read, though, and really gave me some more insight into the character of Pauline on the TV series. It also works well as a stand alone chick-lit story, even if you no nothing about the TV series. I also enjoyed some of the extras details in the book. There's an author bio and acknowledgements of the fictional character of Pauline. The book also says on the spine and inside that it's a "Millennial Imprint," which is from the TV series.

I enjoyed this book. A very quick read and a must read for fans of the TV Series Younger. It gives you a look at what went on during the marriage vacation. A satisfying read.

I purchased this book as I am a huge Younger fan and the book did not disappoint. I thought it was a quick and entertaining beach read - perfect for summertime with a glass of wine! I loved seeing a new side of Pauline/Kate and was interested in her story. Even if I did not love Younger, I still believe I would have enjoyed this book. I actually thought it could have been a little longer!!!

I am on chapter 6 and I can't put it down! I am happily married, and still enjoying it. It's a great story, and well written!

As a big fan of Younger, I was excited to hear that this book was becoming a reality. I love the idea of having an opportunity to engage in the plot line of one of my favorite shows in an new, unconventional way. I hope this is the first in a long line of fictional novels from Younger coming to life!As other reviewers have said, it’s a light, fun, quick read and allows you to get to know Pauline/Kate’s character in a more intimate light...and also provides a few insights on Charles/Karl. If you're a fan of the show, but don't have time to read the novel - don't worry. You won't be missing out on anything too juicy (except for page 58, that is).Upon finishing, it left me wanting more, more, more! If this were a standalone book, I'd immediately start counting down the months until a sequel was released. But, lucky for us, we just need to wait until next Tuesday night for the narrative to play out further on television!

Good book. As a fan of the show this was kinda neat to see it and read it in "real" life. I must say the character was better than the actress who plays her in the show. I guess I that could be seen different ways but it took away from the book to keep picturing that actress. She seems wrong for the part. Nice story and very relatable as a married mom of two girls. Enjoyed.

There were some parts that were entertaining. It was a very quick read, something to take your mind off of your day. As a married mom for many more years than the main character in the book, I can certainly relate to a lot of what she is feeling. Not the best book you will ever read, but if you like Younger, then you will probably like it.

Women complaining about everyone else is getting OLD! The book was light and breezy. Quick read. As with the TV program YOUNGER, filled with only very attractive people. However, throughout the book I wondered if she would EVER think about her husband's perspective. I'm a single, working, mom with lots of challenges. So I happily related to much of it, but ALWAYS wondered if she would ever give a thought to what he husband faced when he was forced to step into the family business and was a ROCK for his whining wife and daughters. That was a BIG gap! for me.

Book was in worse condition than made out to be but it arrived well packaged well before expected delivery dateIf you’re a fan of the tv show then it’s an excellent read to give you her perspective of the story vs what you see in the programme and how she wished things ended compared to how they actually do

the book is light and fresh but the paper quality and cover are really thin and cheap.

I absolutely love to this book. I couldn't put it down!! Great story!!
