Rating the book, not the quality
It’s not a hardcover. It’s a soft one but the book itself is amazing! Shinkai Sensei is the best.

Estupendo!
Makoto Shintai sempre entregando tudo! A edição poderia ser melhor, mas se tratando de uma editora estrangeira, não se pode esperar muito.

Very happy, but attention to felivery choice!
Is a very quality book, made me very happy but can only be delivered at home, not pick up point and they do not warned that so delivered got stucked in a error until we cancelled and repurchased. So do not buy on pick up point.

A brilliant novelisation of an outstanding manga, also an anime film
This was actually my first light novel, bought on the strength of firstly the three Volume manga, then the superlative anime film adaptation. I highly recommend all three media. But to the novel, written by the director in tandem with production of the film. Admittedly, I'm reading a translation from the original Japanese into English, but the nuances of the culture and language seem - to my mind - retained as best possible.I was also unaware of the vast gulf within Japan itself. We probably tend to think the whole country is like the major cities such as Tokyo. But most still have large swatches of parochial and rural regions, where life is quite different, and the main character Mitsuha hails from one of these. She wishes she could be a boy growing up in a city and - in a bizarre circumstance - *dreams* she is. Only then, after this happens several times, she realises she is actually switching bodies with Taki, a boy in Tokyo. After this revelation, the two start to work within this unusual circumstance, for better or worse. Then, as suddenly as it started, the switches stop. Taki is drawn to discover why, and the remainder of the story is his quest to find the truth. (No spoilers)There is, to my mind, a brilliant balance struck between modern and *traditional* Japan, and what binds Mitsuha and Taki, taken to a quite surprisingly *logical* explanation, and a very dramatic situation as Taki, in Mitsuha's body, fights to save the day from a semi-apocalyptic event which is flagged throughout.I won't spoil the surprises and twists which make this a gripping story, other than to say there is a lovely and decent ending rather out of the blue, just when you think everything might have been lost.<3
