So how much of the dark change in the water is the machine just taking minerals out of the water. is it better to test with DI water?

DI water most likely would not be conductive enough to get a good foot bath. We had a doctor test the water once after a footbath and the amount of bodily toxins in the water was a little over 20%. What is really happening with the foot bath is that the person is absorbing ions thru their feet which then causes the body to detox but most of the detox happens after the foot bath and for the next 24 hours. Best to drink more water during that time.

You can pour the water in the kitchen sink or bathroom toilet. Either one is fine since both go to the same sewer system.
