Amazon rocks!
The YSL Teint Resist, one of the most beautiful luxury brand foundations I've ever come across, was unfortunately discontinued years ago. There are still a few bottles floating around the online market. In fact, a few shades are still available on the YSL website but my perfect shades are extremely hard to find. I wear a 4 at my lightest, a 5 in the spring and can get as dark as 6 in the summer. If it weren't for Amazon, I'd not have shade 4 sitting pretty on my vanity right now. Shade 5 is probably the best match year-round for my skin but shade 4 matches my winter skin beautifully. Thank you Amazon for making this rare treasure available to us and at a reasonable price while many other online sellers have doubled the original price of this foundation due to its discontinuation and rarity. As for the foundation itself, the finish is a natural matte. It is slightly powdery without the flat, dimensionless look that most traditional mattes give. I highly recommend this foundation to ladies with combination/oily skin who prefer natural, buildable coverage as opposed to heavier formulations.

Best Foundation Ever
I have oily skin, and I hate the orange skin I get after a drugstore foundation has sat on my skin for a few hours. This foundation (which for some reason isn't sold anymore, at least the Shade #4 isn't carried at my local Sephora anymore) is the ONLY foundation I have found that didn't turn orange on me, or get streaky, or disappear altogether, even after a long day at the office. In photographs I also love that my face doesn't look a totally different color than my neck or rest of my body; looks very natural, even in broad daylight. Love it. It's very pricey, but you get what you pay for. I also love the smell of the foundation.

The best makeup ever!
I spent several hours at Sephora one day, just trying every single foundation and some other products. This was absolutely by far my favorite foundation because the coverage is perfect, the consistency is ideal, and the color was a perfect match. It goes on smooth and leaves a nice powdery soft matte finish. It really does wear all day long until you remove it at night. Unlike most foundation, my skin stays matte all day, all others cause me to have an oil slick on my face by noon. I really love this stuff. Check the color in the store, but order on Amazon if you don't have time to travel to the mall.

My Fav Foundie by Far
I have been using this product for a few weeks now; enough time to know that this is indeed a superior foundation. I have tried so many HE foundations I've lost count. But If I had to compare one to another, Resist can be very easily compared to GA Lasting Silk in regards to coverage, wear, application, and finish; however Resist beats LS hands down in all categorizes.Colors: I purchased two shades during Sephora's FF, #4 and #5. After reading the reviews and comparing my current foundation (GA Lasting Silk #5) I thought I leaned towards #5. But as I wore #5 throughout the day I knew that wasn't the case, even though it gave me a nice glow. Both #4 and #5 are in the same tone category (very neutral like wheat-devoid of pink) w/ #5 just a half shade deeper. They both seemed to have darkened at least a half a shade after application, which made it difficult to predict which color would fit at first. GA Lasting Silk's colors all leaned heavy toward yellow and pink; even the so called neutral #5. GA #5 was my recent fav, but I knew that the slight pink tone looked somewhat unnatural on me outdoors. YSL #4 looks perfectly natural in and outdoors on my light to medium olive complexion. So, if you are light to medium-go with #4, and medium is #5.Application: YSL is very comparable to GA, in regard to application. It applies and smooths out very easily, just like GA; allowing me to easily utilize my uber expensive GA designer brush. The opposite is true with Shu's Face Architect for me, which can be described as a hard to spread mousse. I would also like to share a small tip that has been helping me even more with application and finish. Spritzing my brush with water before use, really is a neat trick for spreading out thicker formulas. At the moment I've been using a big bottle of Evan Water for the job, but any spray bottle and regular water should do. Since I started adopting this method my foundation has looked even more flawless and even. This method might not work with an all synthetic brushes, but should with sponges and natural brushes.Wear: All I can say is wow to the wear of this Semi-Matte. After the end of work day my MU looks almost exactly as it did at the beginning of the day; which I could not say with GA Lasting Silk. Lasting Silk would become flaky around my dry areas (forehead) and fade in the oilier parts. Not bad by any stretch of the word, but it does not hold a candle to Resist. For ref, I only dust a bit of powder (MUFE Super Matte) on my upper lip and sometimes on my chin.Coverage: It's very similar in coverage to GA Lasting Silk and EL Double Wear Light. I would call this a light to Medium, buildable coverage foundation. I have lots of little uglies around my chin and such to cover, and it does very good job of evening everything out enough for me to perfect the rest with a little concealer at the end. BTW, MUFE Full Cover #4, matches Resist #4.Finish: Okay, I have to comment on how this foundation looks on my skin, because a lot of medium foundations sit quite noticeably atop my skin. I need at least a medium coverage foundation, but I really don't want a neon sign above my head advertising that need. This has got to be one of the most natural looking semi-mattes I've ever used. Yes, I have tried other foundations that looked as good, but for only about 30 mins when the oilies start to emerge. So yes it is a semi-matte, but with the finish of a more luminous oil foundation, but is by no means oily looking. It must just melt into the skin perfectly to be able to create this great balance.Fragrance: First thing I noticed when applying this for the first time is, what was the chemist thinking when he picked this nasty Cucumber chemical fragrance. Alas, there is a con with this great product, but not enough to ditch it. The narly fragrance lasts about 10secs and I sort of got use to it after about a week; so no biggie.Summary: Overall this has to be the most superior Semi-Matte, Medium coverage foundations I have ever tried. The fragrance is a downer, but not enough to dissuade me from using it. For reference I live in the dry climate of SF, and my skin is acne prone, yet I've had no problems with breakout or dryness. I travel a lot, and I will update once I have tested this in other climates. So far, I can say this is a HE foundie that is truly worth its moderately expensive price tag.Update: On my 2nd bottle and Season now with this Foundie. Still better than any I have used for my skin type. Works well in pretty much any climate, from Alaska to Florida. Of course I always wear a bit of La Posay Roche Nutritic & Jan Marini SPF prior to application, and adjust in accordance to the climate I'm in at the time. One con I have to relay is that towards the end of my 1st bottle it became a bit clogged and tended to squirt out unpredictably; making for a big mess at times.
