DC Universe Classics 6" Swamp Thing Action Figure SDCC 2011 Exclusive

With so many Swamp Thing action figures out there to choose from, it is all a matter of personal taste as to which one to get. For me, I consider the recent release of the 52 Swamp Thing to be worst of the lot. This version however, both in creative articulation, sculpt, paint and over all "classic" appeal stood above the others by and far.It was an unfortunate series of events that caused me to be unable to pick this figure up when it first became available at the San Diego Comic Convention. Having to post bail and make a court appearance with my grandmother after getting arrested in another lesbian league roller derby brawl took up most of my weekend. Matters became complicated with her when she was charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault leading to serious bodily injury, loss of limb or life. Her resourcefulness for using various common objects like chairs or beer bottles as perceived weapons by the justice system always leads to exhaustive time-consuming cases for self-defense. This is despite her being the initiator in this particular and most other fights. Being viewed as "old" by society tends to work in her favor in most cases.Regardless of how things worked out, I was left with little time to make it to the convention in a reasonable amount of time to enjoy the festivities with the unwashed fandom. Fortunately, I was able to acquire this figure online from Amazon.With the figure in hand, and finding it extremely well-done. .. initially.I sought to give it a bit of an extra edge by making it even more "swampy." In so doing, it brought about the destruction of the figure which ultimately, ended with me throwing the figure into the dumpster for Tuesday's pick up from the city.Over the years, I have received many (and I do mean "many") Obama Chia Pets as gifts. With only so much room for appreciation I have for such a great man, I had a few extra heads that had yet to be used for their intended purposes of display and collective admiration. With that in mind, I decided a portion of the packaged materials from one of the Obama Chia Pets and apply them to my new figure.Just like the commercials and my own successful experiences, in a short amount of time, the seeds did grow on the figure. Impressed as I was for the "Swampier" Swamp Thing figure, my elation slowly diminished when the pungent odor emanating from the figure became far too much to bear and required my removal from its display to evaluate the cause of olfactory offense.I quickly discovered that the compound of Obama Chia Pet materials had caused the figure to quickly deteriorate. Clearly, it was the fault of the figure for not being able to handle these materials. The figure was of no use to me after that sad realization and so, I threw it away. I did however, transplant the growth materials onto the previously discarded Obama Chia Pet head. The results have been about as optimal as one could "hope" for in lieu of the fact his "hair" closely resembles Oprah's on a bad hair day right now.

This figure is straight up sick!! Endo skeleton with a foamy almost mossy outer skin. I love you can't see the articulation points because of the skin and he looks great. Super detailed! Great looking ! He shipped in a week and came with outer box which has a swamp theme scene and the mask inside is pretty rad!! One complaint is I don't believe this guy is new, there was a tear in the skin as I opened it. The hinges are ratchet style and when I move swampys wrist the tear, although very small, appears due to the stretching of the outer skin. Not a big deal but false advertising angers me so think before placing your order with this seller. But it was inexpensive so I'm not too upset. Articulation is hindered a little but otherwise a very superior figure. He's big as hell too.

Amazing figure! I love the detail. The box is so unique that I'm keeping it (I usually throw boxes away after unboxing). The stand looks great. Seems very sturdy. I have no complaints at all for this figure. Very happy with this purchase.

Well packaged. Just as described. Beautiful collectible action figure. My son absolutely loved it as it is nicely displayed.

If you're into poseability and articulation then its a pass, but if your into an amazing sculpt then this one's for you. He's a little big, but a very cool piece nonetheless.

The product packaging is superb. They outdid themselves with this one. The outer box has cutouts to show a peek of the face. The figure is inside a molded paper pulp Swamp Thing head. It is outstanding for display purposes no matter how you choose to display it.
