Exactly as expected
Nowadays when shopping, reading the reviews can be somewhat misleading. I made it a rule to go straight for negative reviews first; as expected, most of the critics rag on the product because they don’t understand what they’re dealing with.First off, when buying a Chinese product, expect it to be Metric. Stop assuming that the rest of the world will cater to the Imperial system.Second, when paying essentially 1/2 the price of a US-made merchandise, expect putting in extra work and, most likely, a trip to a big box store for additional supplies.Third, there’s nothing wrong with this product unless it arrived cracked or seriously damaged in any other way. It is, essentially, a plastic cone with 3 holes. Can’t get any simpler than that.Fourth, people have to understand how suction works. If there’s no suction, start looking for a leak. Understand how different materials interact, then find the leak and fix it.With all that being said, do not (I repeat, do NOT) try bolting it directly onto a cheap plastic bucket lid and expect 99% dust collection. It will NOT happen. Plastic-on-plastic + metal bolts =/= good seal ! Also, the weight of the cyclone unit will cause the middle of the lid to sag, causing - you guessed it - an improper seal and a pressure loss. The proper way of putting it together is a) make a gasket between the base ring and the unit, b) cut a hole in the lid to fit the unit, c) make a base plate out of scrap plywood or MDF, d) make a 2nd gasket to go between the base plate and the lid and only THEN e) make the final assembly. The stock bolts that come with the unit are too short, get longer ones (10-32, fine thread). I used 1-1/2”, worked out great. There’s no leaks or suction loss, the plastic 5 gal bucket caved in in half a second when the port was covered. The hose on my Stanley shop vac fits in perfectly.I took away a star because I had to pay additional $6-$7 out of pocket for longer bolts and a gasket kit, that could easily be included in the package. Otherwise, I highly recommend this product.

Better than expected
When you order something budget, you always take a chance. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the AIFONE cyclone. First, it came quicker than expected. It's shipped from China so I was expecting six to eight weeks. I ordered it on September 26th and received it on October 15th. Not bad considering. When it arrived, I was glad to see the plastic was of decent thickness and seems like it will last. I've seen comments and YouTube videos on earlier generation cyclones imported from China where they said the bracing of the flange was questionable. This one seems solid.I have yet to hook it up and try it out but will try to report back once I do.11/18/18 - I've connected the Aifone cyclone to my shop vac using some 2 inch PVC pipe. I was able to connect the pipe to the cyclone by warming the PVC with a heat gun until soft and then working it over the cyclone inlet. Only a minute or so. Very easy. The cyclone works as expected, sawdust and small chunks of wood ending up in the 5 gallon bucket I've mounted it on. Since I haven't used any other cyclone, I can't say how it compares, but I can't imagine other models would do a significantly better job, especially with the Aifone being half the cost, at least when I bought it. The price has gone up since my purchase. Still a solid 4 stars if not 5.

NON-STANDARD FITTINGS
This doesn't fit ANY hoses I have. Doesn't fit PVC or ABS either. Have to take a 2 inch ABS pipe and cut a length about 6 to 8 inches long. Then I had to heat one end till it was soft enough to push over the AIFONE fitting.A WORD OF CAUTION: HEATING ABS AND PVC PIPE CAN RELEASE TOXIC GASSES. USE ELECTRIC HEAT GUN IN WELL VENTILATED AREAS. DO NOT USE FLAME! And note - you will be working with hot plastics. Use caution so as to not burn yourself. The shorter the pipe the more likely you will burn yourself. That being said, after softening up the ABS I was able to push it over the AIFONE fitting. While still hot I screwed down one of the two clamps that came with the unit to make a tight fit. The ABS now tends to stay on without clamping. But if you wish to clamp it you can cut slots in the expanded end and then use a hose clamp to tighten it down.Took some experimenting, but in the end I was able to test it. To say the least - I like it. Hard to tell if any dust got into my shop vac because I'm using an old filter that I knocked a lot of the dust out of it prior to testing. I DID notice that small chunks of wood tend to get stuck in the vortex and never fall into the bin. Simply plugging up the intake hose would stop the vortex and the small chunky stuff falls into the bin. One other annoying tendency is that if the bin you're using is not fastened to something it can and will fall over repeatedly. You MAY want to build a rig for everything. And maybe a 5 gallon bucket is not big enough. But they sure are convenient.I still have a lot of tinkering to do. Thinking instead of a shop vac I may use the vacuum out of a vacuum cleaner. Dust might go through it, might not. That's why I say I have some more tinkering.June 6, 2019: I've completed my rig. It consists of an old brine tank from a water softener. Probably could use a better container. Nevertheless, here's how I rigged it up: I've used an old vacuum motor from an upright vacuum. Plenty of vacuum and air velocity. Velocity is the key here. Dust enters the AIFONE, swirls around and falls into the bin. The air stream continues to an old air filter box that came out of a junked BMW. Air then passes through the final filter before entering the vacuum motor and exhaust. Here's what I've observed: When using a 2 1/4 inch hose (maybe it's 2 1/2, not sure, have to check) things run pretty good. Almost no dust or chips get through to the filter. However - and this is important, I rigged up a smaller hose to run my palm sander. Dust collection was great from the standpoint of dust at the worksite. However, with the smaller hose and the restriction of air flow, the AIFONE failed to separate the dust from the air stream. Nearly all the sanding dust ended up in the filter box. Given the large size of the box and the low air flow, most of the dust collected in the bottom of the box. Still, there was significant dust present in the filter itself. Will I keep using this? Yes. Would I recommend it to others? That depends on how you intend to use it. If you're collecting fine dust and low air flow - this is not the right unit for you. However, if you're using it nearly restriction free for dust collection, saw dust and wood chips seem to separate fairly well.

Very well designed and made.
Honestly I did not buy any of the competitor items so I don’t have much to compare with, but it did work flawlessly. The cost is fine and the quality was very good. Securing your hose to the inlet or outlet can be a challenge, because of the sizing, but extra fittings and tape can be used to get a good seal.

It works well
It does the job well I simply attached it to a dustbin and connected the hoses and now my filter on my shop vac stays clean with 99.9 of debris in the dustbin. I unscrewed the attaching ring to make a template to bolt it to the dust collector. It comes with 4 nuts bolts and washers to attach the unit to the dust collecting bin and two inserts for the suction connections and two jubilee type clips. My initial concern was that it was quite small but this was poor judgement on my part as it functions very well in practice.

Not perfect. By any means, But for the price, I will see if it works.
The adapters for the inlet and outlets do not fit the item.I had to carefully use a dremel with a sanding wheel to adjust the adapters and pipe they are supped to fit to get them to fit.You can not fit a pipe into a pipe of the same size. The outside diameter of the fitting needs to be the size of the inside diameter of the thing you want to stuff it into. They are the same sizes as the pipes they are supped to go into. The Instructions are in very bad Chinglish. It is either total pants or effective. If it works, I will be happy, if it does not it was not too expansive.

Does the job well
Great product. I added this to a 40l barrel to make a dust separator for my Vacmaster and the suction power is not reduced at all. Biggest issue is the size of inlet and outlet didn't match any house or adapter I had. Took weeks of trial and error with buying adapters. Shipping also took over a month, clearly came from China, not a UK fulfillment. Had great instructions, but was missing the drilling template that it referred to which was a pain

Does not fit standard shop Vac hoses.
It was difficult to adapt to vacuum hoses. Does not completely capture dust, but does greatly improve the life of the vacuum bag. Still happy with it, once figured out.

Not worth the money
Bought this almost a year ago, for almost have the current price. suction not as good as dust deputy... this unit is smaller, and took close to 2 months to ship. Would NOT recommend.
