Good 3D camera
This camera works perfectly, I decided to buy it 2 years ago, the camera still works as a new one. And the software receives continue updates.

Great low-cost 3D camera with an awesome SDK
I have been using these cameras for a couple of months now, and here are some of my observations: This camera has fantastic software support. The open-source Realsense SDK works on both windows and linux, which made my life extremely easy. Also, there is a ROS wrapper that lets you use the camera with any ROS system (though that was a bit buggy in my experience, but it is actively supported by Intel and is getting better). The average accuracy was good, but the resulting point cloud sometimes had a 1-3 inch wavy noise pattern when the laser was not up all the way. The noise was also noticeably worse (could get noise clusters 5 in off) when there was glare from the sun in the image (presumably because this floods the IR cameras and hides the projected laser pattern). I was really impressed with the speed. When turning the resolution down to medium-low, you can get 90 Hz updates on the 3D point cloud data. 90 Hz!! Really quite incredible. The resolution is lower and there is more noise, but that speed could have some really awesome applications for high-speed robotics projects. The global-shutter, 90 deg color camera is also pretty cool, able to capture 1920x1080 at 30fps. The minimum depth detection distance for the camera was around one foot, so I would be careful if you are planning on using it in really close range. Also, it comes with a tiny tri-pod. It is pretty weak and fragile, so I would recommend purchasing a separate tri-pod as soon as you can. It has a standard camera screw hole, so it should work with just about any photography camera mount. The range is supposedly 10m, but I only tested it indoors, so I never got close to that distance. Overall, I would recommend this camera to anyone who wants to incorporate 3d point clouds into their project and is willing to sacrifice precision and resolution for speed, a great price, and a silky smooth development experience.

Our engineer had it quickly up and running with Intel's software
Make sure you check if you want this one (wide view angle) or D415 (narrow view version). There seem to be a lot of pre made tools that our engineer was able to quickly download and start testing for our application.

Hard to use it
It was too hard to use, and to make it worse, it didn’t include any instructions on how to install the software or how to use it. In the end, I decided to return it.

from kinect v2 to d435
with the latest windows updates, kinect v2 seems to work erratically. thus i switched to D435, and have been satisfied with the result.

Awesome camera for developers and makers
This is an awesome camera for builders and makers. Within a few minutes, my son able to get the camera and accompanying software downloaded from Intel's website to scan 3d and show high-quality video. I was able to get it to work with Skype in Windows 10. One thing to point out is that this camera is NOT compatible with Windows "Hello". Windows 10 recognizes it as two separate cameras: one with the RGB sensors and a separate one with the depth sensors. Quality is excellent as one would expect from Intel. Packaging is minimalistic -- definitely meant for developers and makers and not your average home consumer. The box comes with the camera, a USBA-to-USBC cable to connect the camera to computer, and a small table-top tripod to mount the camera. There's no other mount other than the tripod; the camera has a standard tripod mounting socket. I originally purchased the camera to use with Windows Hello, found out AFTER my purchase it wasn't Windows Hello compatible (i.e., I didn't read carefully enough), but I decided to keep my camera because my son and I were so impressed with its build and its features.

Been using this for years, works well, love it, slick, small, easy to set-up, worked and works perfectly... I think I bought this 6 or 7 years ago now. Highly recommend for streamers or vtubers. - There are newer versions if you want better ones. - Look at specs that you need and also apps to know if this is good for you.

Wish I’d got the “i” version, very annoyed I didn’t notice that option sooner.
