Hot Wheels R1704 Crash Course Starter Set

Fun
I got this toy for my son's 4th birthday. He just loved the speed at which the car flies around the track. Unfortunately, only one car comes with the set so you don't get the full impact of having multiple cars racing. I'd recommend buying more cars for the full effect plus you may lose 1 under the sofa when they fly off the track! We already had some of the normal Hot Wheel cars and some of them do work on this track although the one that comes with the set works the best, obviously. The assembly was pretty easy and quick. Don't forget to buy the batteries (I had to rush to the shop!) though otherwise it will be a big let-down! It is a little noisy so make sure you don't have it in the same room when you want some quiet time!As far as educational value goes, play is limited to about 5 or 10 minutes as there isn't much to do apart from switching on the toy, putting the car(s) on and watch it/them go round the track until one or 2 more cars crash. My son, and daughter (of the same age), still play with it everyday so I'd recommend it!

Poor Result for a 'Loved' Toy
My near four year old son loved this track and was very excited by the box when he opened the gift on Xmas morning. However, sadly, when we opened the box we found that one of the pieces of track had a split on the connecting part of it and therefore when assembled (which wasn't that easy from the instructions given) it would only last about ten minutes before that section fell apart. There was also a problem with the booster as it was not only heavy on its battery consumption but would not propel some of the hot wheels cars he also received in another pack even though there seemed no reason for this. The booster seemed incapable of pushing any car around the whole track after a while and after three days we gave up with it and sent it back for a refund. This was a real shame as my little boy is Hot Wheels mad and was really upset by the disappointment of losing what looked like being his favourite Xmas present. We have now bought a Hot Wheels 6-in-1 Track which seems a lot more sturdy and the booster is already a big improvement.

I'd say Most Reliable of Hot Wheels Layouts
Bought for my grandson who likes bash'em and crash'em toys. All the other relatives then jumped in with increasingly complex layouts - of them all this one has kept going - the others are in pieces around his home. So not the most glamorous layout, but most reliable and still in use.

Fast, fun and perfect for little ones!
My 3 year old boy adores his Hot Wheels track! It's great fun and we also bought some additional cars to make sure there were crashes! The battery life is better than I expected for a toy and he has learnt quickly to turn it off if he's not using it to save the batteries for longer play time!It goes together well and is labled to make assembly even easier. This is a well priced toy and was a brilliant birthday present.

Grandson's birthday
Bought this for my grandson's 4th birthday & it was a HUGE success! Eclipsed all other presents. Could use several of his existing cars, so is not restricted to the two in the set. Was a real hit with his little friends who came to his birthday party. For little boys who play constantly with cars, I would certainly recommend it. Not too expensive either.

Great fun but VERY heavy on the batteries
My 3 yo son was ooing and ahing every time this ad came on the tv so we got it for him for his birthday. I was on my own at the time and found it a bit of a pain to put together, no doubt the hubby would have been much better. The toy itself was a big success for the 10m it lasted with two 1.5v batteries (e4.50/2). Ouch.Otherwise, it zips the cars around at great speed and they occasionally going flying off or crash into each other causing loads more oohing and ahing and general glee. We bought a few cars to go with it.Updating this to say the battery life really is ridiculous. Son since discovered the boost button which reduces battery life to about 3m! Hubby thinks rechargeables won't be powerful enough to run it. Have now returned item to amazon. A toy that barely gets going before dying is useless. It's a shame, cause it IS fun when working! Look at the amazon.com reviews and you'll find loads more complaining of the same thing.

Hot Wheel track
Bought for 4yr old birthday pressie and both he and brother 5yr love this, essy to set up, although track a little flimsy, hours of entertainment especially if more than 2 cars (1 included) on track, well worth a purchase.

Great when it works but batteries last 5-10 minutes
I have also returned this item to Amazon - we put it together and it was an instant hit, the car flies around and jumps the bridge. But the two VERY big batteries only last a few minutes and even when they are not totally dead they are not powerful enough to send the car over the jumps.A real shame as it is a good toy when it works, I now have a mechanical hot wheels set.
