Great heating pad. Large size, long cord, auto-off or stay on modes, 6 temp settings, and heats up quickly. I used this daily for IBS, menstrual cramps, sore muscles, keeping me warm at night, and as a warm spot for my cats to sleep. The only minor annoyance is that if the cord becomes disconnected from the pad, you have to unplug from and replug into the wall outlet to reset - presumably a safety thing. Just today it stopped working (the controller seems to have lost function), so I got 5.5 years of near continuous use which isn't bad. Considering purchasing a new one!

I’ve had this thing for 5 years. I don’t understand why it’s only 4.2 stars. Heats up quickly. Consistent heat. Not just one area. Or where I have it in 6 and I’m feeling only mild heat like other heating pads. Purchasing another cause I use it so much. I also recommend to friends.

This heating pad has been my life saver, i would not be able to function in life without this heating pad. I use it for hours Every. Single. Day. I suffered a neck and spine injury a couple years ago. The injury has left me with nerve damage and chronic spasms in my neck, traps, mid back, and shoulder blade region. My spasms are very easily triggered, I usually wake up with a tightness that turns into a spasm in my back. If I get stressed out, my neck will get tight thereby triggering a spam. Lift something with my left arm, here comes another spam. My life is a constant struggle of trying to not bring on back and neck spasms. That being said this heating pad has helped me tremendously. I use it first thing when I wake up to release any tightness I might have gotten in my neck and back from sleeping. And it works. The heat penetrates deep into the muscles relaxing them. If I feel tightness coming on later in the day I use my heating pad for about 20 minutes and it helps release those muscles. I use it at night before bed to calm my muscles down and the heat soothes and makes me sleepy. It's great, I literally use it all day long, all year round. It has saved me from so much pain, helped me from having to take round the clock medications and muscle relaxers and has allowed me to function so much better in daily life. What makes this heating pad so great and different is a few really important things: The Shape. Its extra long and can run the whole length of my back. I start one end at the nape of my neck and it goes all the way down to my lower back. If I’m having lower back pain I use it even lower starting at my sacrum and it runs up to the tops of my shoulders. I am 5’5” for size reference. The heating pad can go from slight soothing heat to really hot. It has a controller that goes from 1 to 6, six being the hottest setting. I never use this on bare skin because high can get very hot and actually give you some burns, especially if you lean back against it on a couch or chair (they caution you on the box to never lay or lean on it, but I do all the time, you just have to watch how hot it's getting) It heats up very quickly, in seconds you'll feel the heat which is great. The material of this heating pad vs other cheaper sunbeam heating pads is much softer. It has a very plush soft cover which is nice. The only thing I will caution on, is do not twist or bunch the heating pad. With my old one, I got into the habit of wrapping it up around my neck like a turtleneck because the front of my neck gets tight. But after a few months of bunching it up, I damaged the heating wires and as a result it would get super super hot and burn me in that spot. So I learned my lesson and it's not the fault of Sunbeam, I really was bending and damaging the wires inside it. So I ordered a new one and this one I am careful not to bend it that way. So use caution, it's not good to fold the pad in half or sit on it etc, there are little wire coils inside that can be damaged that way. I've owned and tried many heating pads since my spine injury and this Sunbeam heating pad is the best to hit all of the areas I need. It has been a lifesaver for me. It’s extra long and hits my entire back. If your looking for heat on your neck, upper and lower back all at once...this is the heating pad for you.

UPDATE on 4/16/2025 I am updating and changing my review from 5 stars to 1 because the product failed three days shy of FOUR MONTHS!! Too bad I can't leave zero stars. It is shocking to see when reading the 1-star reviews how many other buyers of this product also had it fail within 4-6 months, and some even sooner. I had a biopsy a week ago today under "conscious sedation", during which the doctor hit a nerve that sent pain shooting from my ankle to my lower back (it felt like an electrocution!). I used this heating pad when I returned home, and then several times since then to soothe the pain in addition to taking Tylenol. Now, however, I get the dreaded "F" error code, and nothing will make it work despite plugging it into different electrical outlets. This is a piece of junk, and I deserve a refund. With so many claims of a defective product, Sunbeam should be ashamed of itself to continue selling it. I expected better and am angry and in pain. ORIGINAL REVIEW As I write this review, I am using this heating pad, and it works as described (on level 6, it immediately heated up). As others have noted, it is a plus that the cord is so long, providing convenience when an electrical outlet is beyond reach. The fabric does not feel as soft as my old green one by Sunbeam, which I immediately noticed when I removed this product from its box. It seems like Sunbeam used a different fabric on this one, and I almost returned it for that reason, but my old one is in storage, so I decided to keep it. Also, although the list price of the green one is $15.00 more than the burgundy one, they are the same size and appear to have the same features, and I was not able to tell from the product descriptions what the difference is between the two. I read many bad reviews about this product (I always read the bad reviews first, sorted as most recent) and will update this review if it fails or does not hold up in the laundry on the delicate cycle. In the meantime, I am happy as long as it works as intended and described.

So I love these heating pads. I've bought one a year for the last few years. You read that right. One a year - because they wear out. So I'm a daily user of this. I use it at bedtime on my knees or ankles to help with aching. It gets a lot of use. So after about a year (if I'm lucky) they will start giving a F (failure) notice and won't work. I can wiggle things around and usually get a few more weeks out of it, but then I need a new one. In comparison I have an old heating pad that was my great-grandmother's in the 1970s that will still plug in and go. lol. But that thing will set your house or you on fire. SO - I still buy this - because it has great settings and auto-offs after 2 hours. Or you can choose to leave on. It gets nice and hot on level 6. It just won't last forever. I've had other brands, too, and they don't last either, so it might just be the name of the game.

This is my second Sunbeam heating pad (this model). The heat output on this one is so much stronger than the first one. That's a good thing in general-- but please make sure to test the heat output if you buy a second one. The original pad (which I've had for several years and gave to my mom in a pinch this week) took over 5 minutes to heat up. I had to put it on heat level 3 to get it to heat up, and that took 5 minutes. I put the new pad on heat level 3 and it got REALLY hot within a minute. Heat level 1 is suffice on the new unit. If you buy yourself two of these, please be sure to check their heat output before using (especially on a cold or elderly person, or someone who cannot move good enough to turn the heat down). This moist heating pad helps with my sciatica, lower back and SI JOINT pain, and occipital migraines from spinal cord nerve root damage. I highly recommend moist heating pads. I prefer the kind with the thin sponge you can moisten and put inside the heating pad sleeve, as they stay moist much longer, but I cannot find one on Amazon and my local mom and pop pharmacy no longer carries heating pads. ⚠️➡️ YOU NEED TO BUY A SPRAY BOTTLE TO SPRAY (MIST) WATER DIRECTLY ON THE SIDE OF THIS HEATING PAD THAT IS NOT WRITTEN ON. One con about having to spray the heating pad is it does not stay moist for very long. Moist heat is far superior to dry heat in helping relieve muscle pain; if you want moist heat for more than 10 minutes you're going to have to mist the pad again. DON'T DRENCH IT IN WATER (that sounds obvious, but it's a warning on the pad, so people must have tried it). Another con, is the heating pad can be set to automatically turn off, but only in "2 hours". That makes no sense, and is quite dangerous. Having used heating pads for over 20 years, I know you should never use a heating pad for more than 20 minutes on and off; that has to do with too mooch blood flow to the area. Also IF you fall asleep--which you shouldn't, but it makes sense that you could since moist heat relaxes you and relieves pain, enabling you to sleep perhaps for the first time in a long time-- you risk getting burned. I wish the unit had the option to automatically turn off in a half hour rather than two hours. A half hour would give the pad plenty of time to heat up. Logistically this is not the best designed heating pad (where the cord is; needing to spray it, 2 hour automatic turnoff), but it's the only moist heating pad I could find several years ago. It gets the job done. Just don't fall asleep, and again, buy a little spray bottle.

This is an extra long electric heating pad with 6 settings and auto shut off after 2 hours. You chose the heat setting and decide if you want it to turn off. I use it for my neck and shoulder area and it warms up fast. I have 2- 1 at my bed upstairs and another on the couch downstairs. I don’t travel without one. It has no smell when using and the soft cover is washable. I have also used it on my back, it covered from my shoulders to lower back. I’ve never used it at a heat greater than 2. When I need heat and am away from home, I use Thermacare heat wraps which stay warm for 16 hours. I use the neck wrap for all areas, it is more versatile for me. My Sunbeam heating pad and other times my Thermacare heat wraps kept me from missing work after a car accident which had my neck and shoulders in knots. There is no smell and the heating pad and wrap are drug free. The heating pad has a long cord.
