๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ซTRULY AUTHENTIC MEXICAN-STYLE XOCOLATL!!๐ซ๐ฒ๐ฝ
I don't typically write long, detailed reviews on Amazon, but I feel that the high quality of this product makes it truly worthy of it! These chocolate discs are truly an experience to behold! A really unique and special kind of dark chocolate bar, something you don't normally see in stores! Made by an small indie company out in Somerville, Massachusetts, this product is truly worth the price based upon the quality and concept alone! The discs themselves come stacked in a small, compact box that lists all the ingredients used as well as all other relevant info. Using finely ground cocoa beans (Ancient Aztec word "Cacahuatl") native to Mesoamerica, this company attempts to be as faithful to the taste and flavor of true authentic Mexicano-style chocolate (from the Nahuatl word "Xocolฤtl") using organic, non-GMO, gluten-free ingredients from certified Direct-Trade cacao beans grown in Mexico! The discs themselves in the sampler are not that big - about roughly the size of a hockey puck - and can fit in the palm of your hand. They are individually wrapped in waxed paper with some beautiful designs, each which lists the ingredients used for the disc and the flavor. There are 8 separate flavors listed in the sampler: Super Dark, Cinnamon, Coffee, Vanilla, Salted Almond, Guajillo Chili, Cacao Puro, and Chipotle Chili. The discs themselves may be small, but the powerful and impactful taste of each really exceeds the amount! The cacao powder used to make it is stone ground - on a hand carved granite millstone as it says on the box - so finely you can actually taste the coarse, grainy, crumbly cacao powder as you bite into it, with the texture and consistency of sand, which melts away in your mouth as you chew! I was surprised how granulated it was; it felt like I was chewing on powder or sawdust sweetened with sugar and spices! It wasn't at all like your average candy bar or chocolate sweet; it was a lot less uniform in solidity, and not as soft as milk chocolate. But, still, the flavor, by golly! It truly was an experience to behold! My mouth was filled with this unique sensation experiencing artisanly-crafted chocolate made with techniques used by Ancient civilizations millennia ago! I was really impressed by the uniqueness of flavor, it was unlike any other chocolate bar I've had! I cannot quite accurately describe it in as many words, it's just something you will have to taste for yourself! Truly special! Glad I chose to make this purchase, happy I could enjoy the experience firsthand!

Amazing taste!!
Great as hot chocolate, but is an amazing treat on its own. Worth the cost love the โgrittyโ taste, true Mexican cocoa.

A little pricey but very nice quality chocolate
This chocolate tastes really good. I love the stone ground texture. It definitely has a quality taste to it, but the flavors are all pretty faint and don't come through as strong as I would have liked. The biggest complaint I have with this chocolate is the price. I paid $23 for this 8 pack sampler as a gift for my wife. After trying the chocolate and seeing the size of each disc, I would never pay this price again. As I write this review I see the chocolate is on a sale for $16.10 now. $2 a disc might be a more reasonable price if you want to try something special and unique. That being said, the chocolate is organic, doesn't contain toxic ingredients like dyes or artificial flavoring, etc. Quality chocolate can be hard to find, and I appreciate that Taza isn't using harmful ingredients.

Great taste and texture, though pricey.
These chocolate discs are delicious and, for chocolate, relatively low in sugar and high in fiber. I love that they come in easily breakable "pie" type pieces as I, usually, only half a disc or less at a time. I haven't tried them in Mexican chocolate milk but I relish them as plain chocolate treats during the day or after a meal. I wish they were a bit less pricey but, whenever a food gets a good reputation, it seems many manufacturers increase the price these days. Though, of course, the price does somewhat reflect the quality. The only unfortunate thing is all the variety packs seem to be out of stock at this time. I've seen that with several items on Amazon; frequently, items go out of stock for no clear reason and Amazon can give no indication as to when they will return to stock. Disappointing.

Good Stuff, different, pricey
The package arrived one week after the order was placed. It arrived in a cooler bag with some kind of cooling media (ice?) inside, totally evaporated during transit. The package was smaller than I expected. The chocolate was great all around, perhaps bit gritty, made out of two, or three ingredients. Sharp contrast from the chocolates with dozens of ingredients, one sees in the grocery store. Eating this chocolate was like the god of chocolate made you realize that the earth is round and not flat. The chilly and coffee flavors were my least favorites because I do not particularly like these flavors, or perhaps I am not qualified to judge them. Price was high and this, along with the one week delivery time, will make me think twice before I re-order. If you like chocolate, I would recommend this sampler pack.

THE CANE SUGAR INSIDE THE BARS WERE CRYSTALLIZED
The sugar wasnโt properly infused inside the bars, and gave it an extremely gritty texture which could be felt in every chewโequivalent to grinding oneโs teeth on sandpaper. Most of the bars didnโt deliver the flavors the wrappers indicated to have inside. To give you an overall idea, Iโll break it down for you to decide whether itโs worth the purchase; ALMOND BAR didnโt have a trace of almonds in it, instead it tasted as if it were only infused with almond milkโwhich was misleadingly disappointing. CINNAMON BAR barely had any trace of cinnamon, thus couldnโt taste it. CHILI BAR was decently spicy, not too overpowering, not too sweet CHIPOTLE BAR was rich in flavor, you could feel the punchy spice after every chew. Again , all of them were gritty like sandpaper due to the fact that the sugar wasnโt properly melted into chocolate and didnโt infuse like it was supposed to. Iโm personally upset with my overall experience with this product.

Really enjoying this chocolate
This chocolate is exactly as advertised. It's delicious and I enjoy the variety of flavors. A little bit of texture because it's stone ground, but I like that. It tastes more natural. Surprisingly, one of my favorites is the Guajillo Chili. It's not hot, but just warms the tongue- wonderful!

Yes!!!!
Although it's more expensive than the "big" brands, these guys haven't been poisoning their customers with lead... unlike those "big" guys. They also do their best to avoid enslavement of people for financial gain. Again, unlike some other larger companies. Best of all, they have high quality chocolate! It's so yummy, you can truly taste the vanilla, which is something I never thought of while eating cheap chocolate we use for s'mores!! None of that vomit taste you get from the PA company!! Just pure good good, all day. Errrry day!!

What addictive tasting chocolate.
I LOVE THE GRAINY EARTHY TEXTURE.PURE GENIUS.THE SWEET CHOCOLATE HAS NICE FLAVOUR AS WELL THE 85% DARK.SOME PEOPLE DONโT LIKE IT BUT I TOOK TO IT RIGHT AWAY.I AM GLAD I LOVE IT BECAUSE LESS SUGAR IS BETTER FOR YOU.THIS CHOCOLATE IS HARD TO PUT DOWN.GREAT TO KNOW IT IS NOT LOADED IN HEAVY METALS WHICH MANY BRANDS CONTAIN IT.I WOULD BUY MORE OF IT BUT THE PRICE IS SO HIGH.I WILL BUY IT ONLY PERIODICALLY.SO IN LOVE WITH IT.I AM GOING TO MEXICO TO SEE IF I CAN FIND STONE GROUND CHOCOLATE.

Sugary, good enough but not great.
Enjoyed the texture, which is grittier than a typical chocolate bar, but found almost every flavour to be excessively sweet. Liked it enough to eat a disc a day, but not enough to buy any again.
