I purchased the DK1000 reel for an ultralight rod. I'm spooling it with 4lb test. I have purchased and used several other reels over the years with an ultralight setup. This reel is amazing for the price. I'm glad I decided to take the chance based on the reviews I read. Fit, finish, and construction is easily on par- if not better than other reels I have paid twice as much for. I can't comment on how it will last as I just opened the package, but I am really impressed with the initial feel and operation of this reel. There are a few small plastic parts on the outside of the reel, it is not 100% metal construction. However, the reel has a quality feel and a very sharp look. Put a known brand name on this reel and it would definitely command a price that is easily more than double what they are selling for. If you are looking for a solid and smoothing operating and sharp looking reel for not much money.... I can't imagine doing any better than this. In fact, I can't imagine doing as well as this for so little cash. This is a smooth operating reel. No clicks or rubs when cranking the reel and it has a definite quality feel.

I received this reel yesterday (2000). I loaded it up with some backing and filled it up with some 6lb test Nanofil. Then placed it on a 8 foot light action Crappie rod. The 2000 size reel balanced out the rod nicely. Then I took it to a lake this morning to see how well it preformed. To be honest when I took it out of the box I thought the handle was a little big for this reel but the reel was smooth and the bail spring was strong (this is very important because this it what fails most often on spinning reels). When I got to the lake I tied some 6 lb test mono to the end of the line (about 5 foot) and set it up with a slip bobber ( a bobber stop will not work on Nanofil). The Sunfish are about to spawn so they were biting one right after the other. The reel preformed flawlessly. I was able to turn the drag down so it would slip just slightly on a hard hook set, impressive. Once fishing I didn't notice the handle being a little different then I was used too. Tomorrow I will be taking the boat out so if things go as planned I can check it out on something bigger Walleye, Northern, or Bass. I will move this reel to a 7 foot med/light rod for that. I did order a 1000 size reel today that will be going on a ultra light rod to replace a USReel with a bad bail spring.

I was initially very happy with the reel. It is very light, looked pretty and reeled very smooth. Unfortunately, the reeling performance quickly deteriorated and after 5-6 outings the reel became pretty useless. I took it apart and found significant corrosion inside. Fortunately, Amazon customer service resolved the issue quickly and efficiently, refunding the purchase. The seller was also responsive. I think indicating suitability for saltwater was a mistake. The reel is not sealed, allowing the saltwater to get in, and do the damage. It might be a decent low-price freshwater reel, also a safe bet considering Amazon return/replacement policies. Update: received a replacement from the seller. Reels as smoothly as $100 reels. Hopefully, with proper care and freshwater only use it will last longer than the first one.

This reel is amazing! I had one I bought from a store and there was nothing wrong with it. But this reel is so smooth while casting it. It looks pretty darn good as well. I love that you can change left and right. It is very simple to change. My husband always puts the lines on the reels, but I did it this time and it was so easy. This thing is literally so smooth in every aspect I couldn't believe it. Reeling in fish is a breeze. The gears in the reel are easy to adjust. I only fish for bass with it because that is the only thing stocked in the pond besides accidentally getting a snake one time, and no there is no video of that lol. This reel on my pole has been nothing but a dream to use! My hubby is holding the fish I caught. I received this product at a discounted or free rate in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.

Actually super good for the price! Casts smooth and reels like butter. Little on the large size but definitely happy.

Havent used it yet. Its very well built and has super smooth action. Will be using it for the first time shortly. But any reel under $50 that isnt plastic is pretty much a winner. A reel typically only last me a year or two. I keep my purchases under $50 for this reason. The only thing Id didnt get in this reel is speed. I really wanted a 6to1 ratio. But I am willing to give up a little speed for the quality of this reel. I fish mainly bass (boat and river banks), but also wade fast creeks for trout and steel head. Jig for walleye. Snag carp. Go outta state for salmon. So this reel will see a huge amount of use this year. I will revisit this review at the end of the season. (((UPDATE))) After 4 months of using this reel I can give an honest opinion. I have reduced my original review from 5 to 3 stars. It should be 2 but I liked parts of this reel enough to bump it up. If the more important components of this reel were of better quality, I probably never look for another reel again. Outta the box it was smooth and solid. Loved it the first couple of weeks. Got it wet one time and it from that point on, even after lubing it, the smoothness of it vanished. But even the, still liked it. But today while float tubing for bass using a top water frog, I get crushed by a huge bass, set the hook and the bail arm broke away from the reel. The entire screw housing broke off. Now I am suspecting that it might of been over tightened during assembly or maybe just a defected piece of plastic. In any event, I lost out on half a day of fishing and am on the hunt for a new reel. To you the buyer: Buy this reel. I dont really believe that it was ever $145 originally priced, but at $32 you simply will not find a better reel for the money. Trust me. I spent 4 days searching and comparing reels on Amazon. And the only reason it took me that long to decide was the speed. I really wanted to find a comparable reel that was quicker. I did find them but they were twice as expensive. As many times as I submerge my reels while bank fishing, I cant warrant spending the extra money.

I have been fishing for years. . . started as a kid with a Zebco 880. I have done everything from spincast, spinning, you name it I have tried it. The most expensive reel I have ever owned was about $90, and this one blows it away. I prefer the spinning just because I am usually using top water baits that are extremely light. I only do fresh water fishing so I can't speak to salt water but this reel is awesome. Absolutely beautiful reel, I get so many questions about where I got it. It is extremely smooth, I use 8lb test fireline and it works awesome. The seller I bought from was YunNong, and they were awesome. . . got it in two days, packaging was immaculate. Would definitely buy this item again.

My original review was 5 star since I had used the reel for three months with no problem. So I bought two more since then I have returned one it stoped working and now I have a problem with its partner that I bought at the same time. The anti reverse will not lock and now the reel is useless. You pay for what you get it works great for a few months and then it's gone to the trash!!! Good luck if you get theme. I assume if you used theme in freshwater they would last longer as far as salt water they are no good!!!
