Nice, beautiful, abstract plates; not fully glazed on the back so will stain if you are not careful
The art work on the plates is abstract and pretty neat. Make sure you orient them properly or one may not realize the painting is of a face. The plates are surprisingly heavy for their size. The colors are pretty earthy and muted. The finish (glaze) is really smooth and high quality. A note of caution: the back of the plate is not fully glazed and can pick up stains if you are not careful. For example, if you serve for your entree a tomato-based Italian dish (say perhaps, spaghetti) and use these lovely dessert plates to serve tiramisu, make sure these plates do not come into contact with the tomato sauce or the back rims will be stained! So, just be aware of that one item, and take precautions, and these will remain beautiful , flawless, and unique plates. Note that we hand-wash and put these in the dishwasher.

Great platter, but no packing materials .
Beautiful platter. Nice size to display our culinary creations. My only complaint is not about the product, but how it was shipped. There was absolutely no packing materials in the box. The platter was able to slide around the Amazon box quite a bit. We were worried we would find it broken, but luckily it was not.

Lovely indulgence for fans of the celebrity chef/author Yotam Ottolenghi
What a lovely discovery to find these whimsically designed little plates on offer here! Fans of the justly celebrated London based chef and author (cookbooks, contributions to The Guardian) will find much to admire in this very gift-worthy set of dessert-sized dishes adorned with the results of a collaboration with Italian artist Ivo Bisignano. I am very much enjoying Plenty - a plant-based recipe book by Yotam Ottolenghi - gifted to me by friends I’m always pleased to have educate me with experiences gained by their adventures in the culinary world. The recipes are as beautifully photographed and presented as they are flavorful. I am looking forward to returning the favor by presenting these cheerful little plates to them as my gift. Although I’ll always enjoy stumbling upon little luxuries of connection to my enthusiasms in person - it’s certainly quite convenient to discover thoughtfully designed items such as these plates online. Overall it’s quite nice that Serax has made this collaboration available here - for the perfect gift for your foodie friends - I’d suggest pairing them with an Ottolenghi cookbook!

Not constrained by traditional composition
"Face" is the pinnacle of the extraordinary "Feast" tableware collection from Belgian design house Serax. The collaboration created by chef Yotam Ottolenghi and artist Ivo Bisignano is a masterpiece of color intensity. Exuberant use of brush-stroke shape abstract texture, colour and pattern generate innate energy and beauty all of their own. The emotive and engaging lines roam freely and pleasurably through out, calling one to relax and enjoy dining with friends and family. Ottolenghi's signature abstract style "O" throughout the ceramic design, creates a fluid atmosphere in any space; wall, table, and beyond. With the recent passing of Ivo Bisignano, it is a honor to be able to showcase such a formidable talent in my home and at my table. Truly MOMA or gallery worthy.

Nice, heavy small plates
I seem to have a thing for small fancy plates that you can actually use and not just have them for show, and this set really appealed to me. These are stoneware but not near as heavy as some others that I have, probably due to the smaller size. These will be durable without being so heavy that they are too hard to handle or wash for seniors. The abstract design is very cool, beautifully artistic and colorful. It's funny I was looking at the plates and seeing a face until another reviewer mentioned 2 faces looking at each other, and now that's what I see, so Fun! I could imagine them being used in a high end restaurant with a very fancy dessert or appetizer on them. I washed them before putting them in my cupboard and they washed fine, I tested them with a light duty brush and the design was fine, I do have a dishwasher but I will probably not put these in there, just my personal choice even though they are dishwasher and microwave safe.

Calling this what it is: vanity art, and ugly
My kid can do this, and he did recreate this unremarkable artwork, because he was laughing at how bad this artwork is. This just doesn't take any talent or skill to create, it's not wonderful. I think it scares the food I set on it. This is vanity celebrity art, not worth the price. It's just bad art relying upon ego and a century-old modernist reification of primitivism to achieve any value, and this type of value is fiction, false. Value of these plates are the functional value of the ceramics. The ceramics, though, are fantastic.
