Quality product - starts up easily and runs fine
This tiller works well on light digging and some medium-heavy digging. Love the battery operation - no cords, no carburetor issues, no starting issues, no odors, no need for gas in the garage. Unit is light weight and easy to move around on wheels. Battery life may only be 30-45 minutes if you run it continuously, but I haven't had to do that so I use it for 15 minutes or so, take out the battery, repeat the process a few days later, etc. When the battery gets low, I charge it. Does not take too long to charge. This unit isn't as beefy as my previous gas-powered unit, so who knows how long it will last (old unit lasted 15 years). However, at my age, this unit has been a nice change from the gas-powered issues of the past.

Very sturdy and easy to use by the elderly
Little expensive, but I love it. Perfect for me and easy to use. Assembly was also easy for an elderly person like me. Lots of power. Battery lasts just long enough for what I have to do. The casing to the battery on the first one was broken, possibly through shipment, but the replacement one is fine.

Battery died under warranty in less than 1 year. Cannot get response from Mantis Customer Support.
Based on excellent experience with the Mantis 4-stroke gasoline tiller, which has work flawlessly for several years, I purchased the Mantis Model 3558 Cordless Tiller/Cultivator in May 2023 for my daughter. This spring, with the battery fully charged, it worked for about 10 minutes. The tiller then stopped working and the battery indicated it required charging, and has sinced failed to recharge. The battery charger unit indicates that the battery is fully charged, but the battery indicator LEDs show that it is fully discharged. The batterry fails to charge even when left on the charger over night. I have made repeated attempts to contact Mantis Customer Support by phone and email. No response. Do not buy this product.

Cut through 8x22 area of hard, rocky soil in 10 minutes! Awesome piece of equipment!!
This thing is amazing. Granted, this is my first experience with any tiller/cultivator, so I really have no basis for comparison. But having said that... I can say that this has already paid for itself on the first use.It took about 5 minutes to put together... and a 5 year old could do it.The battery comes with 1/2 charge right out of the box. Took about 40-45 minutes to bring it to full charge from there. My immediate use for this was to clear out an area on the side of my house... which has proven difficult because the soil over there is rock hard and using standard hand tools was proving back breaking. This little guy cut through the whole area in 10 minutes on the level II setting. That ended up depleting half of the battery life according to the lights on the battery. (Not sure how long it would have lasted on level I)It honestly took my longer to rake out the weeds and rocks than it did to till this whole area (approx 8' x 22')I do wish the battery life was a little longer considering how long it takes to charge (estimated 90 minutes from empty). But considering the work it does, I can see why the working life is so short. In that same light... I can't really see the need to buy a 2nd battery. At nearly $150... its not really justified considering you'll probably be done working whatever area you're tilling within a single battery charge. It can get a little jumpy when working... probably because the thing only weighs just over 20 lbs. So, that adds to the maneuverability, but also adds to the occasional instability. Generally speaking though, this tiller is very easy to handle. I honestly can't wait to use this on another area in the front yard.Just based on how well this worked, I wish Mantis would come out with a whole suite of lawn/yard care equipment that used this battery pack. I would buy all of it.

Best battery powered to total per - best Mantis; product
This 58 Volt Mantis Rototiller is light, easy to handle and amazingly powerful. Battery life sporadic use, low speed, is well over an hour. Battery life steady use, high speed is about 20 minutes. Battery recharge time is about, 45 minutes. I bought along with a second battery. Ripping sod and rototilling out 16" x 16" holes requires high speed. Nearly everything else works well with low speed. A new garden plot of larger size (20' x 20' or larger) you probably want to use a full size gas rototiller. For maintenance tilling and weeding this Mantis would work fine. This 58V Mantis is much quieter and easier to use than the gas models and in my opinion (3 prior gas Mantis tillers) just as capable. Great torque without the slamming effect when hitting rocks. Loosens and pushes out surprisingly large rocks/stones without damaging blades. After two 80' x 4' garden preps, including sod rip out and 48 - 16" deep x 16" wide holes, I am incredibly impressed and a committed user! This is the real deal!!

If they are going to contact me about the problem
It worked very well until I hit a rock twice within minutes and it would not restart after pushing the battery back in. Contacted the manufacturer they have not responded. So not sure if I missed their contact or if they don’t care.

Great tiller but no parts
Been using this for 4 years on my large (5000 sq. Ft.) garden. Workd great. I only till in planting rows not inbetween rows & i have 2 batteries. Bad part the switch broke 2 years ago & they dont have the part. I wired on a toogle switch attached to handlebar with electrical tape & it was orks fine. Terrible thing they dont have parts.
