Engaging and useful
This book offers a lot of practical guidance on measuring grade, laying out trails, clearing ground, cutting trees and brush, firming the tread, building steps and bridges, and more. It also emphasizes positive team work and leadership, safety, and enjoyment. The only thing that's missing is up-to-date info on using GPS.

Learn something
Pretty good book. Great drawings, could definitely go into more depth on when certain types of structures are best and when they are less than ideal but the best trail book I've found and I've around 4 seasons of experience

Great first book on trail building
This is a great first book for anyone to learn about trail building/maintenance. It is general enough to give a good understanding of various topics, gives enough detail to start out but I am waiting to purchase the 2 IMBA books before I put any tool into soil, because I want to build trails specifically for mountain bikes. You can only buy those on their site, and they're about twice the price, but from what I hear they are very detailed. But I still would recommend this book as a first book as it is an easy read.

The Trail Work 'Bible'
A classic and thorough guide to trail building. Encourage your organization or employer to purchase this book for their business. Everyone should have access to it, although everyone does not need thier own personal copy. Trail work is great for referencing, but the true learning and growing comes from actually doing the trail building; learning by experience and through mentors.

Great book
This book is extremely helpful for learning about trailbuilding. I bought it as a reference when I worked in conservation and it was very helpful to look at when working on a trail project.

Not much details about trail design
Much emphasizing the importance of trail planning and design, but little detail in how to plan and design a trail, for example what should get around and what should protect etc. Returned.

Very complete and well written , it makes me want to quit my day job ,and build endless trails . I lent it to two other landowners , both bought a copy...
