Not for use in desserts.
These are not sweet at all. They are savory. So don’t try to make ice cream with these. It’s not going to work. Apparently sausage ice cream has not reached popularity in this land, but someday, it will be everywhere. Once I washed off the ice cream, the sausage was delicious. Would buy again. But not for delicious sausage ice cream.

Good for a Supermarket Sausage
Johnsonville Italian Sweet is very versatile. It has the flavor profile and texture you want, just less flavor, and way too light on the fennel. It's not TOO salty, but if you are going to throw it in spaghetti sauce, lighten up on the salt elsewhere. Not good on the grill; juices naturally run out and the concentration of salt increases. Same with all tubular meats. It's made to appeal to as many people as possible. I also attribute that to its manufacture in Wisconsin; what do they know about Italian sausage in Wisconsin versus, say, Chicago? And, funny, from the home of bratwurst, Johnsonville's brats are a tasteless disappointment. I love that these come frozen from Amazon.

Hooked on these!
My family loves these sausages. We aren't into spicy sausage, and we love the rich but not too fatty flavor of these. When there are leftovers, we use them in spaghetti sauce, pasta dishes, or soup. We often serve them at church breakfasts to go along with hash browns and scrambled eggs. We are hooked on these!
