Reliable option for regular fiber work
We do fiber to the home installs all the time. We frequently use this type of splitter when installing new fiber setups. These 1 to 2 splitters are great when you need an extra line but don't want to cut the power too much. These tested as expected on the light meter. We have used this brand many times on installations and it has proven to be good build quality with reliable performance.

standard stuff
I'm a novice at best with fiber optic but so far it is as standard as any other material. I'm setting up for some physics light experiments so it's a learn as I go process; I've set myself up with a pretty good mix of things, and so far, it is all pretty much the same for workability, function, performance, etc. This particular unit is going to be hosting 1 run of the experiment itself, and it is one of the more durable feeling components in the whole lot.

The Specific Networking Part I Needed
Needed a singlemode SC 1x2 fiber splitter for a home wiring project and this one is the right spec at a reasonable price. Comes in a 1-meter length, G657A1 fiber, works exactly as expected.

Super useful works great.
I used this at the terminating end of customer facing equipment to measure things like light levels in real on the downstream side of A single channel fiber to the home environment. this is invaluable in today's world where most fiber ONTS do not provide any customer facing management console to check those statistics on our own. And yes I have caught one major player in home fiber blatantly lying about there being no problems when actual live testing on the line confirmed there was... I'm not going to name names They may or may not also be involved in cell phones and have a absolute obsession with the color magenta or bright pink.

Really good quality,I can recommend!
This isn't the first time I've ordered a splitter from this brand, and everything works as it should, with minimal signal loss. Good quality, very compact, and fits anywhere!

1x8 PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) splitter.
This 8 way splitter says it good for 1310 to 1550 nm with little variation in loss and I found this to be true. The splitter is well made with the Planar Lightwave Circuit enclosed in a metal box and the ends terminated with SC connectors. However, the listing did not state APC or UPC and mine came APC, I am not setup to fully test APC style fiber. The fiber used in this splitter is 9/125 single mode and has very little loss over this short distance. Insertion loss is around 10.5dB (Loss (dB) = 10 X Log10(n) where (N) is the number of outputs. Using this formula you would get a 9.03 dB drop with n being 8 channels. The practical loss is in the real world can add 0.5dB to 1.5dB of losses due to other factors. So the splitter does its job, but just not be a good value for the money.

A well made splitter cable, but handle with care. It's fragile!
I've only just started tinkering with fibre optics in my home lab, so I don't have much to compare this splitter cable to. I got the 4 way splitter cable version. There are larger spitter options available. It comes with a test report, validating the operation of each splice. I put it into my cable tester to verify it wasn't damaged in shipping, and everything tested out properly. It makes a nice decoration for a Christmas tree (see photo)! Hopefully I'll be able to do something more productive with it in the future. Fibre optic cables are dainty, so I don't know if there's any warranty beyond it being delivered in working order.

Great splitter for diy use
This 8 way splitter is made of good quality There is a slight loss variation between 1310 to 1550 nm The splitter is well enclosed in a metal box and the ends are terminated with SC connectors. After scoping the connetors they are pretty clean The light level variation is less than 0.25db to 1 db. This splitter works great and its very useful for diy projects This splitter is a good value for the money.
