This shirt is adorable. The pattern is so absolutely amazing! I love the colors so much. The fabric is very soft and smooth. It’s not itchy, stiff, or scratchy. The thickness of the material is just right. It’s not super thin and flimsy, but it’s not so thick that it feels stiff and uncomfortable. The shirt seems very well-made, and the materials look and feel like they are high-quality. The buttons are nice and secure, and the stitching across the shirt is consistently spaced. The fabric is also very durable and holds up well, even with a “rough and tumble” kiddo that is a bit hard on his clothes. The colors are nice and vibrant. Both the fabric itself and the colors have held up very well with use/wear and after going through the wash several times, so I expect that this shirt will last quite a long time without fading, losing shape, or showing significant signs of wear. The shirt is very versatile. It is PERFECT for holiday events and celebrations because the colors are so festive. It’s also versatile enough to wear throughout the various seasons because it’s a classic style that really looks great year-round. The collar stays folded down neatly, and the sleeves stay cuffed, which is a huge bonus because you don’t have to continue folding the collar back down or re-cuffing the sleeves all day long. My son loves the shirt, and I think he looks great while wearing it! It also makes a good option as a light sweater to go over a t-shirt for days that are cool but not cold enough to need a full hoodie or jacket. It fits nicely and is comfortable to wear. It is true to size and doesn’t seem to shrink after washing. Overall, this is a great shirt. I have four stars because the lining is quite light in comparison to the vibrant pattern on the outside, which looks slightly “off,” like it’s only dyed on one side. It’s a minor design detail, however, and the contrast looks kind of cool. I just wish the pattern were consistent on the inside, too, like a traditional flannel-style button-up. Still love the shirt and highly recommend it!

**I received this shirt today, so my 5-year-old hasn’t worn it yet and it hasn’t been washed. My review right now is based strictly on first impressions and quality, not the fit.** The shirt is definitely cute! The color and plaid print looks almost identical to the product photos. I also really like the light blue accent fabric inside the cuffs and collar. It's a small detail, but it makes the shirt feel a little more elevated. However… there are a few things that I’m not loving. The material is very thin. A lot thinner than I expected, especially for something labeled as a flannel. When I hold the shirt up with light behind it, I can literally see through it. It's not a huge deal for us since my son usually wears a T-shirt underneath and I keep these types of shirts unbuttoned anyway, but based on the photos and “flannel” description, I assumed it would be a heavier-weight material. It's definitely not. Another issue for me is the mystery fabric situation. The listing says that it’s a “cotton blend,” but neither the size tag nor the care tag lists the fabric content. The product page doesn’t say anything about what the shirt is actually made of other than "cotton blend". I prefer cotton or at least knowing what I’m buying, so not having any clear material info is a red flag in my opinion. If I had to guess, it seems like mostly cotton?? But I honestly don’t know. Because the shirt is so thin and the material content is unclear, I don’t feel like the current price (around $15) is reasonable. If this were priced closer to $6–$8, I think that would fit the quality better. Final thoughts | It’s a cute shirt and matches the photos well, but the thin fabric and lack of material transparency are why my rating is 3 stars.

My almost 5 year old is pretty big for his age and the 5-6 years size fit him perfectly. I usually have a hard time finding shirts, especially button-down that fit his height, but this one is long enough to cover his back fully, even while bending over. The colors are nicely paired and I really like the pop of white on the sleeves/neck. The colors have remained true through multiple cycles of washing, has not shrunk, and doesn't wrinkle as easy as others. This button-down is lightweight and is perfect for our rapidly switching weather in the Southwest; he doesn't get too warm in it and the material is very breathable. It's fairly soft to the touch, even more so after washing and doesn't feel scratchy, too stiff or rigid, making it very easy for him to move around/play. This is one of the few shirts he has that he won't pull off immediately when getting home from school.

The collar has almost no structure, so it doesn’t stand nicely and makes the whole shirt look shapeless when worn. The blue white pattern itself looks fine, but the fabric and overall construction make it feel low quality.
