Handy
So, what's not to like about carabineer clips? These little guys are quite handy and useful to have on hand. This one is more heavy duty than the cheap light weight ones I have previously used that do not have the screw lock (mainly use these for keys or keeping latches closed). The 3" size is rated at 400 lbs. I wouldn't use it for climbing - & I don't believe it is rated for such. This one has seen use as a chain gate fastener to hold 2 ends of chain together securely. We don't have pushy or aggressive animals, so it worked well in this application. In this application it isn't ideal as freezing rain or ice could freeze it making a hot cup of coffee or other warm liquid necessary to free up, but the other spring clasps have the same issue also. Seems well made and would except many years of use with the galvanized coating.

Heavy, well made.
I received this MarineNow Galvanized Sprign Snap Hook Carabiner to review today. It is HEAVY and does not feel cheap. It feels quite well made. The thumb lock works great too. We are using this to reinforce a wire lead and it does a nice job doing such. I can't say if this is good for mountain climbing but for securing a lead for a 55 lb dog it works great! I include a photo of the item next to a pen for size reference.

Cheaply made
This metal is cheap and I think a really strong force applied to it would cause it to break. But the worst part is the quality. The first time I used it, it got cross threaded, and I had to use pliers to loosen it. So maybe for a single use a lightweight item it would be OK, other than that, I would recommend not buying it

Strong and sturdy
I got this snap hook to attach to the outside of my backpack, so I can attach something (like my neck support) to it when I am traveling. I really like this type of snap hook because it is much safer and secure, since it has the safety screw that helps ensure the hook remains closed. Also the hook is very strong and sturdy, so I am not worried that it won't be able to hold whatever I attach to it.

Heavy duty. Thumb lock for extra security. Galvanized to be weatherproof.
I have plenty of utility carabiners that I use for camping and other outdoor activities, but I keep this with my fishing gear because it's heavy duty and galvanized, so I don't worry about it breaking or rusting even when I'm out on salt water. The 3โ x 5/16โ model that I have is rated for 400 lbs, so it can handle pretty much any weight (fish, crab pot, etc.) that I attach it to.

Strong, lightweight
Nice smaller size carabiner, locks well, only issue is that it has a couple rough edges that if you're not careful, you could cut yourself. A file would take them off easily though.

Well constructed.
This is well constructed steel carabiner. This is light, but the aluminum ones are notably lighter (and weaker). The metal finish is shiny like the product photo. You can screw it closed tight so it will stay. The spring action has a good level of tension and the parts line up correctly. It measures 3 3/16 inches long. Both the Amazon description and the plastic bag it comes in say it's 3" long. Recommended.

Not for Climbing
Please don't use this for any situation where a load or person might be in danger of falling. This is more of a medium duty carabiner to use around the house. It has the weight of a polished stainless steel carabiner for much less cost. The locking mechanism could use a little grease if it's to be used frequently. Above the gate hinge, the carabiner isn't finished smooth which means running a line of rope through could cause significant abrasion and fraying. The threading on the gate is unnecessarily long as well meaning that it is exposed once you thread up the locking ring. If you need a secure carabiner at the end of a loop like a dog lead, this is a nice cheap alternative. For almost everything else, this will compromise the rope or line after a little usage. Please be aware when using this for other applications.
