Spyderco Manix 2 Folding Knife, 3.37 in CPM Cru-Wear, C101GPFGBK2 | Forest Green G-10 Handle, PlainEdge, Full-Flat Grind, Ball Bearing Lock

I've had this for one year now - also purchased one for a family member. After one year there is still zero play in this blade - it's machined so well that it doesn't loosen up at all. The blade is a little stiff at first but after a month or so it moves freely enough to flick open very quickly with one hand. The edge retention on this knife is probably the best of all of my knives. The G10 handle is superb for feel and traction. Yes, it's heavy for a folder, but it is built to last and to be a very strong folder - note that much of the weight comes from the large locking block and the full steel liners are not skeletonized - they're solid. I use this every day opening boxes, cutting zip ties, and my morning fruit - it cuts food superbly. I have several Spyderco knives and this is by far my favorite - the best looking and feeling of all of the Spidies I own. If I lost this I would buy it back in a heart beat. Update: I've owned this for over a year (also recently bought my brother one for his 50th birthday). Over a year later of heavy daily EDC use (mostly boxes, wire tie wraps, and food) and this blade has zero play in it. Solid as a rock. I've only sharpened it a few times - it takes and holds a wicked edge for a long time. Yes, it's significantly heavier than my SOG Aegis, Kershaw Ken Onion Blur, and my Benchmade Griptillian but this knife - blows them all away and is well worth the weight. It's my EDC worn on light EMS zip-off pants and I really don't even notice it any longer after wearing it for so long. Love the details of the knife - like the Golden Colorado USA Earth engraving on the blade - that right there says they intended it to outlast mankind.

Great knife with a very solid feeling in the hand. The scales on this version of the Manix 2 are notably grippier, which feels good in the hand but might tear your pocket up if you wear fragile clothing. Fit and finish on this version of the Manix is great. I can’t detect much if any blade wobble on my specific unit. The skeletonized liners save a noticeable amount of weight over the versions with full liners, but it’s still a substantial knife and you’ll notice it in the pocket. The action on this knife, and all Spyderco’s I’ve had, is good but not ultra smooth out of the box. A drop of lubricating oil on the pivot helps break in the movement significantly. After that it becomes extremely smooth. Overall it’s a great knife that feels like it will easily last decades if taken care of- but I’d only recommend this over the standard SPY27 version if you want/need the advantages of MagnaCut, slightly lighter weight, grippier scales, and/or just like the blacked out look. Personally I think it’s worth it for $30 or.

I have carried the same Gerber knife for 21 years. It is an old knife and still looks new but I just can't keep it sharp. I wanted to upgrade to a better knife for EDC. I wanted a knife with good size as I have large hands. I wanted knife with an ultra-sharp bade that was easy to care for and that would stay sharp longer and wouldn't rust after years of daily carry. I wanted a strong knife with a good locking blade that was easy to open and had a good shape to allow me to safely grip the knife and use it even with gloves on or with wet hands. This Spyderco Manix 2 XL fit all of these needs. I actually purchased two of them. One is the Spyderco steel colored blade and the other is the black color blade with the Diamond-Like Carbon finish. I looked at several other Spyderco knives with the black blade but ultimately I loved the Manix 2 XL so much I just purchased another one of them in black because the quality of the knife design if so good. The knife out of the box was so sharp that I could shave the hair off of my hand and arm. The ball bearing locking mechanism is rock solid. The blade when opened has no side to side movement and it is locked in place with absolutely no vertical up and down movement. The large 14 mm Spyderco hole makes opening the knife easy and the blade snaps locked and stays there. Every day I am carrying one of these Spyderco knifes. If I use it a lot during the day I spend 1 minute on a strop and bring the blade back to razor like sharpness. The quality of the steel is excellent and it is easily sharpened. I am so glad that they are both fine edged knives. The 3.88 inch long CPM S30V stainless steel blade is flat ground and is extremely sharp and beautiful. I love the curved blade design with a smooth plain blade edge and no serrations. The knife blade has the look of an ultra-high quality piece of kitchen cutlery. The internal framework of the knife is a stainless steel skeleton that provides strength and safety to the knife. A large blade needs stability if you intend to use it in tough applications. The framework is covered with G-10 scales that provide an excellent gripping surface for your hands. I really like the shape of the knife handle that is shaped like it was custom made for my hand. It provides such a good gripping area that I feel like my hand will not slip while using the knife. The knife blade has jimping on the top ramp of the knife and on the index finger choil guide that helps to provide a more secure grip on the knife and allows you to have better control of the blade for doing fine work. The knife weighs 5.11 ounces. The skeleton frame reduces the weight and allows you to easily clean the knife routinely. Keeping the knife clean is important to allow it to work properly and to avoid corrosion. The knife frame even has jimping around the handle in four strategic locations to improve your grip and help you to handle the knife. The knife handle has a large and strong clip on it that is changeable for left or right tip up carry. The handle also has a lined lanyard hole for the attachment of a lanyard. The ball bearing locking mechanism is ambidextrous and it locks securely. In fact, it takes a finger on each side of the knife to move the slide switch to unlock the blade and fold the knife. Overall I am very pleased with the quality of the knife and its functionality and appearance. This is a quality product that is made in the USA and it deserves a 5 star rating. I am pleased with the quality of the knife and I recommend this as a very good product! So good I came back and purchased one for my son as a gift. I have purchased 4 Spyderco knives and the Manix 2 XL is my favorite every day carry.

Absolutely phenomenal knife. Cruwear is already one of my favorite blade steels so naturally combining it with a model like the Manix 2 is a winner. Because of the DLC coated blade the action can be stiff when you first get the knife but it absolutely will break in. My Manix 2 is now super smooth with a drop shut action. The blade is extremely sharp and the Forest Green G10 handles look amazing and have the perfect amount of grip for me. The Manix 2 also has jimping in all the right places to keep you locked in while making cuts. The Manix 2 is a big, beefy knife that you will notice in your pocket but it’s tough enough to handle any tasks you need it for. The ball cage lock is one of the strongest lock types you can get and definitely more robust than something like an Axis lock with omega springs. Onkata is a legit AD for Spyderco and this Forest Green Manix 2 in Cruwear is an exclusive made for them by Spyderco. I highly recommend picking one of these up before they are all gone, you will not regret it.

Absolutely love this knife, the factory grind was a little off . First sharpening I got some chips in the apex . I sharpened it again at 13* per sides , no chips . It's a edge retention monster , after hundreds of feet of cardboard it's still shaving sharp . The lock was incredibly stiff when I first received it, I put a punch in ball lock compression the for 72 hrs . After that the lock was great , finish is great. The action is smooth opening and closing. The price is cheaper than most places online.

I’m usually the cook in my family, and my favorite kitchen knife is an 8” Wusthof chef’s knife - thin, flat ground, slicey blade that tapers to a piercing point like a normal chef’s knife. Nobody bats an eye when I sling that thing around. Now, the Manix 2 (which, when you think about it, is in design and steel basically just the last 3.38” of that chef’s knife) makes people very nervous. If ever I bring it out when people are around there’s a kind of awkward silence. I get it - maybe it looks a little menacing. I know, I know - who cares what people think? Still, I’m reluctant to bring it out around friends, family, or strangers. That’s probably the only downside to the knife, and if you live a life surrounded by less knife-anxious folks, you won’t even have that problem. Design-wise, I think it’s ideal. Let’s face it - modern life includes a lot of packaging. Opening boxes, breaking down boxes, opening mail, slicing tape and strings, popping oversized bubble wrap, etc. I’d love to say I use this knife for more exciting things than that, but that’s most of it. But it’s such a useful tool in that way! It’s a perfect design for all of those tasks. Edge retention...I don’t know - I’m cutting a lot of cardboard and that’s hard on a knife. I’m more interested in how easy it is to get the edge back to sharp than I am how long it lasts. This knife isn’t too expensive to baby, and the steel isn’t that difficult to sharpen. (I have the CPM S30V.) The handle design is outstanding. Feels good in the hand, the jimping is tasteful and useful, and the multiple hand position options are great. G-10 is utilitarian, grippy, tough. But also sterile, ugly. I recently ordered some beautiful rosewood handles for it, and I know that’ll give it some soul. In the year I’ve owned it, it never occurred to me that it might be a heavy knife. I see other reviews mention that, but honestly I never thought of it. I mean...I think it’s pretty light for a well-built metal tool. A little weight let’s you know it’s still in your pocket. I like it. The longer I own it the more useful I find it. I 100% recommend it. I’d forgotten how much I paid for it last year, and now that I see my order again ($122.50), I’m surprised it was that cheap considering how much I use it, how nice the steel is, and how solidly it’s built.

I gave this knife 4 stars. In almost every respect, this knife gets an "A". It is very solid and sturdy. Steel lined, with G10 scales. Weighty, but not too heavy. The S30V blade is good modern steel and it comes sharp from the factory. Some aspects of its ergonomics get an "A" . Specifically, it fits very solidly and precisely in my hand while I am using the knife, as it is designed to do. It has very useful jimping on the back and the choil, so my fingers do not slip. The choil and the design of the top of the ricasso make it possible for me to choke up on the knife SAFELY for cutting where I need finer control. The blade design makes it suited for any cutting task I could imagine. The spring that controls the ball bearing lock mechanism was very stiff, and initially that got in the way of operating the action of the knife, but it has relaxed enough with use. I think the design and manufacturing quality of this knife are genius-level, EXCEPT for a couple of things. As to the ergonomics of opening and deploying the blade one-handed, I give that a "C+". Because of the lock design, I can't flick it open one handed (without giving it a lot of wrist action). The problem is that when I deploy the blade by rolling it open more slowly, the ergonomic design of the knife requires that I change my grip on the knife handle as I roll the blade open, so that as I do that, my hand rides up on the handle, toward the blade. Then, after the blade is deployed, I have to change my grip again, to hold the knife in a position for cutting with it. This is not unsafe, but it is annoying. If I were using the knife for self defense -- which I hope I never have to do -- it would make the knife less suitable for that. I can mostly get around the problem by starting to roll out the blade and then using a lot of wrist-snap to deploy the blade the rest of the way; but I wish I did not have to do that. As to the ergonomics of closing the blade one-handed, I will be generous and give this knife a "D- ". It is not very easy or safe to close the blade one handed. Holding it in one hand, it is difficult to grip the two "buttons" -- one on either side of the knife -- tightly enough so that they do not slip when you are pulling them back to disengage the blade so that it can be closed. For ergonomic reasons, if Spyderco is going to make the knife with slick plastic buttons (which I think it should not do at this price point) , the buttons should be made more prominent so that they can be gripped more securely. The knife is not designed well, ergonomically, for one-handed closing, so when after some effort you finally succeed in disengaging the blade and it falls shut, the blade comes down abruptly, like a guillotine. You have to make sure, as you strain and tightly grip the handle to perform this one-handed operation, that your fingertips holding the handle have not gotten even slightly out of position. If they have, and if the edge is sharp, you will have a bad injury, because fingertips will accidentally be in the path of the guillotine. That is not acceptable design on a knife that is designed for one-handed operation. It is really tragic, because the ergonomics of the knife are so good in other respects. The knife design came so tantalizingly close to being perfect -- but it just missed.

As always, Spyderco is incredibly tough and high-quality and this one is no exception. Manix 2 is my every day work knife on construction sites and the farm. So this DLC coated blade and forest green G-10 handle was one I was looking at for a while before I finally made the purchase and I’m glad I did. This full size knife has been great for me for any task and has held up exceptionally well. Seems to hold its edge and stay sharp awhile. I have been extremely tough with hard use on this knife and the only area of noticeable wear at all is on the pocket clip, but I have not even needed to tighten the clip screws at all.

Questo coltello è grande, ineccepibile dal punto di vista costruttivo come tutti i coltelli di questo marchio. Come dicevo l'impugnatura è grande e permette di passare con comodità da quella a tutto manico a quella "di precisione" più avanzata con molta naturalezza (ergonomia ai massimi come da mission aziendale a cui siamo abituati da sempre). La dimensione della lama consente lavori anche di un certo carico, il meccanismo di bloccaggio è sicuro, la lama ferma. Il meccanismo "ball bearing" una gioia, ancor più se hai le mani grandi. Molto smooth in apertura/chiusura dopo un certo periodo di rodaggio. Costa ma lo consiglio vivamente (a volte lo mettono "a rate" allora è da prendere)

Top Messer! Echt super scharf geliefert. Kein klingenspiel, robust gebaut, der S30V lässt sich sehr scharf ausschleifen und das DLC coating ist wahnsinnig robust! Für meine Hände passt es wie angegossen, habe Handschuhgröße 9-10. Hab es Jeden Tag als treuen Begleiter auf der Baustelle bei mir. Manchmal wird auch mal ein Kupfer rohr damit entgratet!! Mein nächstes spyderco wird dann ein "kleines manix" mit Micro MELT MAXAMET Klinge 🙄😊 Zum versandt! Alles ohne Probleme, würde zügig vom Händler losgeschickt! Nur immer diese Probleme mit Hermes....... Ansonsten alles zu meiner vollsten Zufriedenheit! War nicht mein erst und auch nicht letzter Lauf von Neun-24 über Amazon

Ja wirklich! Hab das Messer bekommen, ausgepackt und muss echt Sagen die Verarbeitung ist Tippi Toppi. Keine scharfen Kanten, Materialfehler, Klingenspiel, hakelnder Verschluss! Passt! Das Spyderhole ermöglicht eine Vielzahl an Öffnungvarianten, macht echt bock mit dem Ding zu spielen. Schließen geht auch mit etwas üben mit einer Hand. Der Ballbearing ist OK, finde ich. Ich muss sagen das Ding liegt einfach Super in der Hand, in allen Positionen, besser als ich mir gedacht habe! Das Manix ist natürlich n wuchtiges Teil mit ner riesen Klinge, aber überraschenderweise super Leicht, dankt des skelletierten Liners. Ganz ehrlich, ich wünschte es wäre schwerer! :D Hab es schon ordentlich hergenommen und hab noch nichtmal mini Ausbrüche in der Klinge! Der Stahl ist denk ich super, hab Messer bisher nur über den Microfeinzug gezogen und über n Lederriemen mit Polierpaste und jedesmal kann ich mich damit rasieren. Das nächste mal werde ich aber warscheinlich einen steileren Winkel einschleifen. Ansonsten muss ich echt Sagen, Bomben Teil und trotz XL wirklich nicht zu groß und zu schwer für die Tasche. Jetzt noch n Paramilitary 2 und mein Spydercorausch ist hoffentlich behoben. Kaufen! Mfg

Una navaja extremadamente sólida muy cómoda en la mano se siente muy natural, ningún detalle le he encontrado abre más lento que mi paramilitary 2 pero también la hoja es mucho más grande. Y con respecto a eso está navaja es enorme tanto a lo largo (hay más largas) pero a lo ancho está masiva si te gustan las navajas grandes de exelente calidad y muy resistentes entonces esta es para ti.
