What a GREAT -- no, INCREDIBLE light!
We have an area at our office building, an upper deck with entryway, that has no outside light. We could get something wired in, but not very easily, given that it is a cinder block building and there isn't any wiring close to draw from, plus, it's the hassle of installation, and another light to forget to leave on or forget to turn off. So, this seemed ideal -- a motion activated porch light for the times we are accessing that door, after dark, which happens frequently for our later shift. I mounted this right in the upper corner of the rather wide wooden door sill (so I didn't have to deal with the cinder block), and it's a gem! Works GREAT!The outside security lighting we have does not reach that doorway, so, even though our back parking lot is fairly well lit, this light still pops on reliably whenever we are using that upstairs back door at night. The only issue we had was that, if the inside upstairs was well lit, then, when you opened the door from the inside, at night, this light did not kick on, because there was too much light coming through the windows of the door itself, and so the sensor did not sense enough darkness to know to turn the light on, when motion was sensed (the door opening, for example). We could maybe have gotten around that with trial and error of location, maybe, but I found that just leaving off the inside lamps nearest the door dimmed things down enough for the sensor to know that it is "night" and pop the light on when the door is opened from inside. So, problem solved, and it now also acts as a motion sensor warning, given that, if someone is at the back door, we see the light kick on and shine in through the back door window. So, a terrific product, does what it says, won't run down batteries because it only comes on as needed, is easily mounted and aimed wherever you want it to shine, and throws a BRIGHT and fairly wide spot of light. It is a "spot light" kind of light, so, good to keep in mind that it does not (and is not designed to) shine beyond where it is pointed really, but, if you are looking for a quick area light with no wiring issues, that is motion activated, this is a great light and I highly recommend it!***** UPDATE: December, 2013: Just wanted to say that, not only is this light still going strong, but it's still on the SAME ORIGINAL batteries from installing it, back in January of this year, and showing no signs of significant dimming, WOW!!! That will be a year of use, in a few weeks, on the same batteries. Light is still working GREAT!!! Needless to say, Mr. Beams ROCKS!!!

Economical security light
I bought two of these to keep watch on my yard between my house and garage and my driveway. I live on a very dark street, and unless I keep my electric outside light on, it is pitch dark. Somehow, even in the complete moonless darkness, these things can detect motion up to about 25 or 30 feet away. My outside electric lights consist of 4 lights that are on the same switch, so these nice little battery operated, motion detecting, photocell lights are great! They are about as bright as a 25 watt bulb (which is BRIGHT compared to the pitch dark). They stay on for 30 seconds after the detected motion stops, and are not overly sensitive so that every car that drives by turns them on. The 3 D-cell batteries should power these for quite some time, seeing as the LED does not use much power and it does not stay on excessively long.Update: Its now four months later. I ordered two more lights for the other two sides of my house. I'm still on the same batteries on the first two lights. After a little fine tuning with light position and a magic marker 'blinder' on one light to get it to ignore road traffic, these have worked out perfectly! Their best use is giving some light to very dark areas. I think that the folks that have problems with them not coming on, must have a lot of surrounding street lights or neighboring outside lighting. My block is REALLY dark and these have done nicely for me. Nobody will be able sneak up to my house! Not even the neighbor's cat!Update: Now it's eight months later. I've only had to replace batteries in one of the lights--the one between the house and the garage that gets the most use. These lights performed very well during our cold Minnesota winter. The lights were very welcome since, during the winter, it is dark when I leave for work in the morning and dark when I get home. No more dark walks to the garage or out the front to the mailbox. The lights are always there to greet me.
