Stetson Royal Deluxe Open Road Hat

Love this hat. Shipped in original packaging, was clear the seller handled with care. There was a slight delay with Amazon but it only set back the delivery a half day. Product was exactly as advertised and the fit was reflective of the accurate size guide. When in doubt, order size up. It’s lighter than I expected which helps with warm weather but it retains its shape despite an airy, comfortable feel. Color is true black and you won’t find a better option than a Stetson.

I like the sage color the hat fits perfectly. I originally ordered size 7 1/8 since all of my other Stetson hats are that size. It was too small so I returned it for a 7 1/4 which fits perfectly.

I usually buy direct from Stetson directly but decided to buy through Amazon for faster shipping. I have several of these in different colors. This is a classic style. Wear brim up cowboy style like LBJ of Truman of flipped down Fedora style. A timeless classic. Mine was flawless and true to size.

This Royal Deluxe version is such a soft and supple hat without the STIFF CARDBOARD feel of regular felt open road. Also, Stetson hats tend to run a little LARGER than Resistol or Larry Mahan felt hats. I wear a 7 3/8 in a Mahan (milano) and Resistol felt or beaver blend hats and a 7 1/4 in a Stetson.

I had never ordered a nice hat through Amazon before and must admit I was a little worried. But let this give you some peace of mind, my hat was delivered completely unharmed and packaged very well. Inside of the fedex box was the genuine Stetson box with hat perfectly packaged inside. Absolutely beautiful hat I am VERY pleased! This is the real deal 6X Stetson Open Road I am so happy to finally have my very own! I proudly wear this to all of my shows and it’s a huge confidence booster! Way to go Amazon!!

I guess I finally learned my lesson, if you want quality you go to the maker. This hat will make you feel special and look great.

Fit is great (7 3/4 on my about 23” head). Can wear it all day and it doesn’t ever feel too tight, but I can ride a bike and it doesn’t blow off mainly because of the leather interior band which kind of sticks the hat to your forehead. I do have just about an inch and a half of fitting tape on the inside to shape the hat to my weird head a little better. It feels like there’s a little room for the hat to shrink just a bit, which I’m told is normal for hats to do as they age. See how that goes in the future.I thought I ordered ‘grey’ but the box is labeled ‘caribou’. Looks like a dark grey, so no problem. The hat normally looks darker grey (like what’s shown in my second pic), but occasionally under some lighting conditions it looks like a lighter grey (like my first pic).As far as cons: I guess I would say the dark grey ‘caribou’ isn’t super versatile. It looks really good with some things, and other things it doesn’t quite work as well.I’m not a huge fan of the cheap grey band it comes with. A ‘cognac’ leather (like what’s on the inside of the hat) would look so much better against the grey, in my opinion. So I’m trying to find a hat band the right size and color.For some people spending this much on a hat would be a big con. You kinda get what you pay for and I would say the hat feels and looks like what you’re paying for it.
