Ultimate Book of Everyday Knots: (over 15,000 copies sold)

This is a great book for learning knots. The illustrations are very clear and easy to follow. The name and uses of the knots are all included in each page. If it was me I would have started with specific knots that are most common first but other than that it’s an amazing book. I’ll be using it in my class this fall to teach kids knots!

5 Stars – Exactly What I Needed I’ve picked up a lot of knot books over the years, but The Ultimate Book of Everyday Knots by Geoffrey Budworth is the most useful one I’ve found. The illustrations are clear, step-by-step, and easy to follow without overcomplicating things. Whether you’re tying down gear, rigging something on the boat, or just want to master the basics, this book has you covered. It doesn’t waste space on fluff—just practical knots that work. I keep it close, and it’s already helped me out more than once. Highly recommend if you’re serious about learning knots the right way.

Aw the artistry of Knots! This book is full of knot lore, uses and a good chunk of useful knots for all occasions. If you're looking for a good starter book to get Into tying knots and that thrill of completing knots like a puzzle. You can master them with this book.

Being somewhat unfamiliar with knots I found this book interesting to read. Each knot has a little history behind it and many are illustrated more than once in tying. Each knot has one or more diagrams showing step-by-step how to tie it. The illustrations are at times take a little study to follow. A couple I thought weren't done completely right. This was the weakness of the book. More care could have been taken in using colors to accent the flow of tying the knots. Overall, with a little patience just on some of the knots they can be tied as shown. The knots included I thought provided a good selection and for the average person you'll have all you need. This is still a book I'd recommend.

This book really impressed me. It is incredibly well written, the knot instruction is very well presented with nice color pictures.

This book reminded me of the knots. My father taught me when I was young. It’s been a great ass asset in building and knot board. I thought I was pretty knowledgeable, but have learned so much more with all the information within these pages

I don’t understand some of the negative reviews. There are definitely knots for every day use like the bottle sling (for plant cuttings) and others I’ll use in crafts. The size of the diagrams are not a waste of paper as one reviewer said, it helps me see more clearly the over/under instructions. I like the two colors of rope to help keep track but it would be nice if they were a little more vibrant and the fuzzy arrow maybe darker so it’s easier to see if it’s going over or under. I need bright light to see it better. There are brief descriptors that are quite sufficient for the purpose of this book, another reviewer would perhaps prefer an historical tome for each knot but that certainly isn’t necessary for an introduction to some interesting knots. Some are functional and some are decorative. I think this would be a good book to just play with, go thru and try each as an activity during rainy or snowy days. I’ll be getting a copy for my brother-in-law (because, why not? It’s something different) and although this would be good for a range of age groups (maybe a good parent/child bonding time activity with younger kids) I think this would also be good mental stimulation for the elderly.
