Avantree Oasis 50M - perfecto!

Easy to set up and use. Works flawlessly.
I'm using this to listen to my TV without disturbing the rest of the family. It's connected to an AV Receiver using the headphone jack, and set to Aux mode on the transmitter.Using it is simple. It paired up quickly with my headphones and each time I use it again, it renews the connection automatically.Sound quality is very good. I've been using a Sennheiser HDR 160 headphone with its own proprietary sending unit. The Sennheiser is a very good quality headphone, and when relatives gave me a new headphone with bluetooth connection, I had to buy a bluetooth transmitter. I was delighted that the Avantree Oasis is so easy to set up and the sound quality is so good. The Avantree connects to a power source via USB, and fortunately, the unit has an "on-off" switch so you can easily turn off the power while it's not in use. It contains no batteries, so it is not rechargeable. It must be plugged in to the USB whenever it's in use. This is not a problem. I prefer that it is not "live" all the time. The first time I turned it on, I had to set it for auxiliary use (rather than pass-through) and set the unit to transmit rather than receive. Both have obvious switches or buttons. This has the added feature of voice announcements giving instructions for what to do. The announcements can also be turned off.I can't say how much of the better sound quality I enjoy with my new headphones and the Avantree Oasis is attributable to the Bluetooth standard, the Avantree, or the new headphones, but they sound better than my Sennheiser HDR 160s. I cannot hear any artifacts. No hiss, clicks, or any other sound through my headphones. I assume that means any transmission noise with the BT standard is below the audible threshold. The range is not as far as expected. I get dropouts if I wear then in another room at the far end of my apartment, a distance of approximately 30 feet, and around a corner. There is no problem with straight line reception at that distance, and this never bothers me because I don't need the range. But keep this in mind if your transmitter is not in the same room as your headphones and listening position.

Goof-proof long range audio via Bluetooth
I was prepared to be unimpressed by the Avantree Oasis TC-500, but I am actually pretty impressed. It is a very simple unit overall, but simple as in you don't have to guess how it works - it is very intuitive to use, and the voice prompts that pop up when you're configuring the unit are easy to follow and understand. Packaging on this and other Avantree units is excellent, and the encouragement that the packaging uses to prompt warranty registration indicates that Avantree cares about its products. I am configuring this unit to transmit the headphone output of a relatively small audio mixer (about ten stereo inputs) to a receiver unit about 50 feet away. If I run into issues when I test this at range I'll amend this review, but based on my close-range testing, I don't expect problems. There are two forms of audio input or output - a 3.5mm headphone jack for analog audio, or an optical fibre cable input fore digital audio inputs. There is a throw switch of the unit to send it into transmit or receive mode, and an on/off switch to start Bluetooth operations or to bypass them for testing or using connectivity locally. A membrane control panel enables you to switch between aux (3.5mm analog) and optical inputs/output, and to re-start the Bluetooth pairing mode. It comes with a standard 3.5mm jack cable (on both ends), a 3.5mm to RCS stereo cable adapter, and a short optical cable. You can use this in receive mode for any headset-level or component audio input, and you can transmit audio to any Bluetooth device that will pair with it. Note that this unit is enabled with AptX Bluetooth technology, which CAN enable low-latency audio, but the unit paired with this unit must support that capability also in order to get that feature to operate. My own use is not that common, perhaps, but not too uncommon, also. The headphone-level output of the audio mixer goes to the Avantree Oasis in transmit mode, is paired for reception with an Avantree Roxa Plus Bluetooth receiver, and the analog output of the Roxa Plus goes from the 3.5mm jack output into a USB mic/headphone adapter (mic side), which is inserted into a Macbook Pro Retina. This enables remote recording of the mixer board's output in software running on the Macbook. In testing, the audio sounds GREAT, and i am excited to try this in a production mode soon. There are cheaper units, but I can understand why this unit is highly rated and a bit more expensive - it feels "built to last," is very easy to use, looks like a pretty solid piece of equipment, and seems to have pretty good service. Their support line couldn't give recommendations on hooking up a Macbook, but this is a pretty arcane topic, so overall I was very pleased with the email support provided. Give it a try, my guess is that you'll be very pleased.

Excellent transmitter.
Pros:I love everything about this transmitter. I can connect it to just about every portable radios that has an headphone input jack and it works flawless. Initially, I bought this to use primarily on my phone's FM radio (it needed a wired headphone as antenna to work). I can leave my phone on one spot with this transmitter plugged in on it and walk around the plant listening to tunes. It bummed me out that I cannot receive or make calls through bluetooth with this, but I learned this was not design for that. It turned out, the solution was quite simple.. buy a bluetooth headset with of multipoint support. I was lucky enough that my bluetooth headphones are multipoint capable so I can connect to my phone AND Avante Oasis BT transmitter. I carry my phone with me while I listen to a boombox parked by the middle of the plant. When there's an incoming calls, Avante Oasis pause the transmission and allow the calls to come in... then transmission resumes after the call... awesome. The range on this is incredible, I can actually listen to audio way beyond 164ft. Although it seems to depend on the headset you use and how much open space in between. I can use this with my mpow bluetooth headset and get at least 200ft (transmitter sit atop a workbench) and farther when I place it on a two storey platform. Even going underground (our washroom at work is on the basement) isn't a problem. My Sabbat X12 pro don't have as good a reception as my Mpow, it begins to cut out in the basement and it won't go further than 180ft... it still a very good range. So your mileage may vary.ConsPrice - but you definitely get what you pay for on this one...aka worth it.Can't think of anything elseBottom line is. This is an excellent buy. For anyone who's looking for a bluetooth transmitter. I highly recommend this one.
