This ocarina is one of the most beautiful instruments that I have ever seen. The craftsmanship is evident. The colors are beautiful and the mosaic pattern really gives it an exotic, dragon-like feel. They are a bit darker than the image shown (I will attempt to attach a photo to this review), but I think the colors I received are even more magnificent than what is pictured.The sound is clear and concise. Each note is perfectly tuned. As with any instrument, the highest and lowest notes are difficult to reach without practice, but sound just as good as the middle range notes if done correctly. This is by far the best sounding and most consistent ocarina I've owned.If you have small hands like me, it can be difficult maneuvering as this is slightly larger than the standard 12-hole ocarina. But it is absolutely possible with practice.All in all, I am very pleased with this item and with the seller. I would definitely buy from Songbird Ocarinas and Harmon Music again.

I personally enjoy ocarinas and this ocarina is fantastic. It is heavier than I expected and the chain is a little long. What is a challenge is getting your fingers used to the style of ocarina it is and the two sub-holes on the same side. The ocarina itself is harder than expected but overall, it's an amazing piece of art and musical instrument. Thank you to all the Songbird workers who design and create all the ocarinas. I hope that people realize how hard you guys actually work and put effort into making ocarinas, and how each are so very important despite our expectations of it. If you can't play it, don't hate, appreciate the time they put into making it and at least keep it for decoration. Each is a work of art as I previously stated. Thank you again, Songbird. :)

I was hoping that the unique design would help me overcome the obstacle of having small hands with a larger instrument than what I've been playing, but I still couldn't cover all the holes like I needed to. It is not a bad ocarina; it just can't accommodate my hand size. Seems like I will have to stick with the 6-hole pendants. I have a tenor of this type and it plays very comfortably for me.

Just got it today. I'll be honest, this is my very first ocarina (and actually the first ocarina I've seen ever). I'm neither an ocarinist nor instrument expert.The instrument looks beautiful, it even came with better things than I expected (it came with a star-key ocarina poster, really cool). It came in a leather bag, with a songbook and the chain. The sound is beautiful, high notes are hard to reach, but no instrument is too easy I guess, do not feel discouraged by this, by people telling you "it sounds awful". Any musical instrument played poorly will sound bad. I love the crackle finish, it gives it that mystical dragon tooth feeling. The only details I'll point out are two things, one of the backholes have a little unfinished "crack" and the voicing ramp has a little hole, but this must be due to the natural process of making ocarinas, after all they are all handmade. I love it nevertheless and would buy from Songbird Ocarinas anytime. This is my fully honest review.

I did not receive the finish pictured, but I think I like the one I got. I have several ocarinas and this one is fast becoming my favorite because it does not get asthmatic on the high notes - they are just as rich and clear as the lower notes. I also seems to be a good fit for my hands and I like the slightly larger size and weight. I would highly recommend it for the quality of the instrument, but if your heart is set on this particular finish, contact the company first and make sure that is what you are getting. Beautiful in sound and look

I'm REALLY disappointed, for $120 this should be some really fine material, or atleast sound fantastic. I have another ocarina that I got for $55, sounds exactly the same, I was hoping for a really well made ocarina, this is like half my money..anyways...I'm going to try to get their wood version of this, HOPEFULLY it sounds good.
