The Lee Fisher Cast Net is the most economic tool for catching your own bait. You can also use a cast net to catch shrimp, larger fish, mullet, etc. Review: STILL Five Stars - The quality exceeds the Betts nets in the same price range by far. They are more supple, less stiff...this makes throwing and handling the net much easier. I have had MANY cast nets, this is my favorite, with the exception of a Calusa net, but that net was about 4 times as expensive, and no less resistant to the oyster beds. Great net, great price ! 2019 This review was from 2015. after 4 years of ownership, this is still my go-to net, I only use my other nets when I fear the oyster beds might claim some or all of the net. The net is even more supple now. Review: Easy to use - I bought 1 like this years ago and over the years I kept repairing until no more. Didn't know brand name of the net and I took a chance. Wow, exactly like my old one. Very good net. Highly recommend.

Cheap net, highly effective
For the price, this thing is perfect. I use it to cast for bait below a dam in pools 2-5' deep. The net throws easily, sinks fast, and closes well. The 3/8" is perfect for 4-6" shad. Any larger mesh and they get their heads and gills stuck in the holes and die. However, for open water and larger bait you could go up to a 1" mesh to increase its sink rate.

Sent Wrong Size!
Ordered this 7 foot radius but got sent a 6 ft net. Even though container was clearly labeled as 6 ft size, someone stuck a bar code sticker on it and labeled it as a 7 ft radius. Measured and weighed it and it is 6 ft. and 6.15 lbs. Since there is over $11 price difference, I will have to return it. After seeing that it is cheaply built, I will probably buy a more expensive net,as I already have a 6 ft Fitec Super Spreader and was looking for an upgrade in quality. This is priced right for beginners and it comes in a nice little storage bucket. Lee Fisher nets were previously built in Florida and had a reputation for quality. The China version is typical entry level, but has real lead weights, not plastic coated steel ones. My first return ever on an Amazon purchase!

Best nets for the money
Lee Fisher cast nets are my favorite to throw. I throw in the rivers mostly so I do lose them from time to time. After buying cheap nets due to loosing them I have just started sucking it up and paying for the Lee Fishers due to catching more bait and better overall net for better openings over the cheaper nets. In fact I wish I could return the 3 cheaper nets I have in my boat as they just sit as Lee Fisher nets I always grab first.

Poor quality
Just received the 7 ft net.on first inspection it seems to be of poor quality. I have 2 basic gear nets that for less moneys puts this net to shame.

Great looking and feeling cast net.
First of all the cast net is 6' RADIUS, not diameter as the description says. It is 12' Diameter so make sure you know that in case it is illegal in your state. I'm still learning how to use it by throwing in the backyard and it fells really soft and smooth so far. But I wanted to get this posted since the description is wrong. A great net and not a bad price for what you get, no tears or anything. Can't wait to get the cast down so I can actually use it!
