VW Golf, GTI & Jetta 1999 thru 2005 Haynes Automotive Repair Manual (All 4-Cylinder Gas Engines and TDI Diesel Engine 1999-2004)

Before purchasing this book, I would rely solely on videos searchable on the web for parts info and repair procedures. For the most part, many things can been found that way for these VW's, but it can be hard to get more structured methods that have all the necessary oem spec details. Sometimes accuracy of information can be an issue too. So, for me, I reached a point where I needed more to supplement my learning. This is the first Haynes book I've bought, but I've been recommended them before, so I figured I would try it, not expecting much, but for a glovebox reference at least--I bought an 03 gti recently with no book in the glovebox. I was surprised to find that this book is so much more than a glovebox reference. This book has everything you need to know to do any standard repair, keep your maintenance schedule, and never have to take your car in to a shop if you don't want to. And if you do take it to a shop, this book will help you know what's going on, and will give tips on how to prioritize the work you pay to have done--essentially, this book can save you from being taken advantage of. Bottom line; this book is worth it for both the thorough DIY person, as well as for the person just looking to take care of their car with a plan for paying out repairs.

I have had this repair manual for a year now and it has saved me a lot of money on car repair costs. The step by step instructions make repairs easy to perform on your own. From replacing my radiator fans, to the door actuator, to the thermostat, window regulator, etc. are all jobs that I have been able to do on my own thanks to the information contained in the Haynes Repair Manual. Will buy again in the future for my other vehicles.

Definitely shows the basic wiring paths, but was not able to solve the particular issue I was after

Need a Haynes for the little TDI we picked up while rebuilding my hemi. Even though it was used it was a fair price and came in really great shape. Fast shipping and very nice customer service. Highly recommend.

This manual seams to touch on everything about the car however does not go ito much detail in some areas. I bout it to help with a clutch replacement. I lacked in some details and pictures in that area. It also does not have all the bolt torque specs. However thous are easy to find online. Unless u are looking to spend around $150 on a great book (Benteler) this is probably the book for you. I does have good detail on other minor things you might want to do to your call like removing any panels interior or exterior, and preventative maintenance.

I own a mk4 Golf and this book has become my bible! I cannot stress enough how much better a book is than online sources for us DIY guys. The ability to flip through rather than click through the steps, especially when you're under the car, really helps the repair get done right. My only major complaint with this book is that it doesn't go into transmissions at all. It'll tell you how to drop it and install it, but that's about it. The engine overhaul section could've done with a few more pictures, but other than that this is a solid book.

This book have very useful information, it helps you with your car.

Excellent repair manual. I own a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta City (a Canadian model) and this book basically tells me how to repair my MK4 Jetta. I have already replaced my spark plugs, engine oil, thermostat, and cleaned my MAF sensor just by following the instructions on the manual I was wondering why there was no section on how to replace the cabin air filter. It turned out that my car actually did not have any. The book has ample pictures and will show you the proper torque for tightening nuts and bolts, maintenance, and all the other relevant information required for you to be able to fix your Jetta.
