50 days. Fill your bowl with the mixed colors of Salad Bowl! This blend has it all: delicious, pretty, sweet leaves in a heat tolerant variety. The greens and reds look beautiful in salads and sandwiches. Harvest young for terrific baby greens. Successive sowings will produce sweet lettuce spring through late fall!

Great for the Aerogarden
I bought this lettuce seed (plus 2 other varieties) for my Aerogarden. I planted them with the Grow Anything pods in the Harvest Elite Plus. After 21 days the leaves were big enough to pick for a large salad. Since then, there's been more than enough for a salad everyday. The lettuce is a blend and I only planted 2-3 seeds per pod. Only one type of lettuce grew in each of the 3 pods that I planted. Currently it's been 39 days planted and I pick off the bigger leaves about every other day. I store them in the fridge when I'm not going to eat them the same day. I have to pick them because it's getting so big! I love having fresh lettuce that's clean everyday. I didn't have to worry about the recent romaine scare either. Don't laugh but- this is really exciting for me. It's a struggle for me to want to eat vegetables. I hate seeing dirt and bugs on the lettuce heads at the store. I buy a head of lettuce and sometimes it goes straight to the compost bin after 2 weeks of sitting in the fridge untouched. I'm excited to see the produce growing and it's so easy now to keep my commitment to each veggies every day. P.S. The lovely vintage style seed packet would look cute in a craft project, e.g., wreath, greeting card or scrapbook.

My results
I use Aerogarden LEDs. Their salad blend bolted - the plants got stalky and bitter tasting. I decided that the problem was temperature. The air around the units has gotten up to 82 F and has been around 79 for the past few months. The reservoirs get hotter with the pumps on, up to 84 on occasion. Besides fiddling with the lights, directing fans at them, and replacing the pumps with airstones, I bought:Simpson Elitehttp://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XDTAVURomaine Freckleshttps://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B002Y2SAYU/andSalad Bowlhttp://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B005JPLJA6.I read that hydro roots can't absorb something (nutrients or O2 I forget which) if their solution is above 82 deg F. I don't know if that is the same thing as "bolting" - any botanists?Anyway, the simpson elite plants look like vines and taste worst of the bunch. Ranked from worst to best the order is: simpson elite, aerogrow kit, salad bowl, romaine freckle. The romaine both produces and tastes best. The salad bowl is a bit scraggly. I'm amazed at how the Elite was the least bolt-resistant of all. I might post pics.
