Stylish but Considerate Fit Required
I recently purchased a pair of Dr. Martens shoes, and overall, I'm quite impressed. They have a beautiful design and seem to be of excellent quality. The size fits perfectly, and the weight, while a bit heavy, gives them a sturdy feel. However, I did notice a notable detail in the design. The upper part of the heel counter is quite rigid and ends in a slight forward incline. This feature introduces a certain discomfort at the back of the foot. Wearing the shoes snugly can potentially cause rubbing against the Achilles tendon, leading to some discomfort. While the aesthetic appeal and overall quality are undeniable, I would advise potential buyers to be mindful of the fit, especially if opting for a snug size. It's a trade-off between style and a slightly uncomfortable design element in the heel area.

1461 SR are very good!
This review is based off my concerns and expectations when I was making the purchase. My biggest concern was the sizing. Thankfully the size chart is accurate. I have no issues with the size I selected. They fit perfectly. Snug but not suffocating/overly tight or uncomfortable. Just perfect. So perfect I don't think I'll have issues with breaking them in or blisters like Dr. Martens are renowned for. Secondly the shoes are very comfortable. This was another major concern for me because I wanted something I can wear the whole day w/o feeling uncomfortable after extended periods of time. Though I must mention that this particular model, the Slip resistant, has some weight to it. Not in a bad way, they just won't feel like you're wearing running shoes. They weigh about 1.2KG which is 2.6 LBS. Thirdly, not sure how they will hold up in the long run but they seem and look very durable. And lastly they came as advertised. No issues on my end. Some reviews stated they got used products w creases and scratches. But mine are as brand new as brand new can be. 10/10 - would recommend. Just get your size right.

NON SLIP
These shoes are great if you work in a kitchen or restaurant. I've tried several pairs of shoes from high to low end and these are the most slip resistant pair I've found. Like all doc martens, they were real snug at first around the widest part of my foot. They took a few months to break in all the way. They are comfortable but not the most comfortable shoes you'll ever wear (See Crocs-though Crocs failed my non slip test at work). The back of the heel has worn but I haven't noticed it yet. They wipe clean and are easy to slip on and off. Highly recommend.

rugged, gait-alteringly heavy, functionally slip resistant, uncomfortable.
Good: slip resistant soles perform well in situations where oil, grease, water are frequently present on slick floors/stairs i.e. restaurant kitchen, bar environments. Heavy duty construction means these shoes will be around for the long haul. Bad: heavy. REALLY heavy. Also not entirely convinced these are 100% leather. The saddle area in particular seems like some kind of composite material. After a month of heavy wear, there's still no signs of the material softening. Ugly: extremely uncomfortable. Among the least comfortable shoes I've worn in my 55 years. No half sizes so they'll either be a little big for you (which will be a problem once the leather relaxes), or a little small which just intensifies the torture. Verdict: Considering how little direct competition there is (heavy duty but still reasonably handsome, slip resistant, leather), I'm pained to say, they're hard to beat. They'll take a long time to break in but then you'll have them for a long time. My partner had a couple pairs and reports that they were eventually worth the extremely long break in phase. I'm still waiting to be convinced.

Round up for Half-sizes; Great shoe though!
Per suggestions I ordered a size down since I am normally a half size. Unfortunately a size down was too small - since these are made with such sturdy materials there's just no wiggle room. I would suggest for folks who normally order a half size to round up rather than down for this shoe. If it was made of cotton it would be a whole different story but these are really sturdy leather that are not going to give (you might scrape off some heel skin trying to squeeze your foot into a size too small). Ultimately this is a great shoe though and as long as you get the sizing right I think you'll be pumped to wear these - they're made well and a really timeless, versatile style. I needed a good flat for work and what better than a nice Doc Martin brogue/oxford to say "I may work in corporate america but I'm still kind of anti-establishment?"

Only good non slips
I have undoubtedly struggled to find good, durable non slip shoes. Tried shoes4crews, slip resistant PF flyers, vans for the makers, and the slip-resistant doc martens 1460. All of the former broke on me within months (soles began to separate from uppers, cracks in the soles, and treads wore out ridiculously fast, especially for the vans). The only exception were the docs, but a boot is not always what you want when you’re running around a massive restaurant/ beer garden, bartending or working back of house as a sous chef (I rotate between all of these in my business)- so I decided to give the 1461 low tops a try. The break in period was excruciating and full of blisters and blood, there is no way around admitting that. But now that they are broken in they fit like a glove. These are my favorite work shoes by far, and they have not shown a sign of wear yet despite me working them HARD. Obviously there are some other durable non-slips out there… but they are often butt ugly. And I’m kind of vain, admittedly, so I won’t be buying those. I will definitely update if this changes, but basing off of how reliable the high top boots are, I have my entire faith in these.

Shocking Decline in Quality
I have worn Doc Martens as my daily shoe now for almost 20 years. After 5 years I had to replace my previous Docs. The sole was starting to split from the welt, but the upper was in reasonable condition. I purchased my first pair of these new shoes in Nov of '23 to have both soles splitting from the welt in about month. I returned the shoes and the second pair arrived in January of '24. With the new pair of shoes, I noticed that the toe cap area was starting to get a fuzzy texture. Almost a suede like texture. I had never seen this on a pair of Docs. I have seen scratches, but not the leather getting fuzzy. About two weeks ago, the left shoe, just aft of the toe cap where the shoe flexes, started to crack. Right now there is a fully developed crack all the way through the shoe and is about 5/8" long. The leather in the area is substantially thinner than other Docs that I have had. By eye, it seems that it is about 30-40% thinner than a pair that I have as some grunge shoes that are about 15 years old that have a crack in a similar place (but took more than 8 years to develop). To have these shoes last less than a year is really disappointing to say the least. I am looking at different shoes, and right now I am contemplating the Thursday Boot Company Statesman. It is the closest in style while having a better sole than the Doc Martens or the Solovair shoes that do not really allow for resoling. I never really worried about having to get new soles on shoes as the uppers usually wore out at about the same rate as the sole in the way that I use the shoe for a Doc Marten. I am open to suggestions, though.
