can it be ironed with denim side against wrong side oh Jess so that denim part/side of patch‘fills’ threaded hole?

You can iron it to the inside of the trousers but you have to iron it sticky side down or it won't stick. The sticky side is shiny but once you wish it the shininess goes and looks like denim through the hole.

do these patches iron onto the outside or the inside of the jeans?

Inside of jeans. I used mine to stop a hole getting bigger rather than covering up the hole. If you put them on the oustide of the jeans it would be blatantly obvious that there was a patch but if you put it on the inside then it could just be a stylish look.

The packaging states - 1. The steam setting must be off before you start to apply the patches. 2. Pre-heat your iron to the max or set your iron to cotton/linen. 3. Place the patch on the desired spot front side up, shiny side down. 4. Iron over the patch with real pressure for 30 seconds. 5. Iron again on the reverse side for 10 seconds. 6. in case the patch starts to peel off after some time, just re-iron the patch again. One patch can be re-ironed up to 3 times, even after washing.
