Vibram Five Fingers Men's KMD Sport Athletic Training Shoe With today's athlete in mind, Vibram FiveFingers has raised the intensity with the Vibram FiveFingers KMD Sport. This aggressive multisport design inherits what we love about the KSO with functional improvements that appeal to the most active fitness enthusiast. For the first time ever, Vibram introduces a stitch-free, seamless 2mm footbed to reduce friction. Heel and instep hook-and-loop closures help secure the stretch nylon upper to the contours of your foot-just like a second skin. The KMD Sport wouldn't be complete without a 4mm Vibram TC1 performance rubber outsole which provides the grip and protection you need for a variety of cross training activities. Machine Wash, Air Dry. XS TREK SOLE DETAILS Review: KSO EVO vs KMD Sport vs V-Alpha - I’m brand new to Vibram FiveFingers, I’ve bought 3 different pairs. KMD Sport, KSO Evo, V-Alpha My intention was to use one for outdoor running, one for the gym, and one for at home exercises (p90x + insanity). The idea of working out fast-twitch muscles using your bodies natural movement, in order to prevent injury appealed to me, so I thought I would give it a shot. I have ran 5 marathons and a half-Ironman in the past, but I am preparing for a full-Ironman, I do not intend to run an Ironman in Vibram. This is a preliminary review since I have only had them a few weeks. All of the shoes I am very happy with, the biggest complaint I suppose would be the KMD Sport size ran larger than the others for me. The Velcro is at the very edge. The important question I think is which one is better for which purpose. Of the 3 that I have experience with, I chose the KMD sport for outdoor running, my reasoning is that the bottom of the shoe is much thicker than the others, so I felt that they would last longer. There is a trade-off, the KMD sport is slightly less flexible than the other two. KMD sport uses 2 velcro straps to get a good fit, the others use a nice lacing system, that I wish more shoes had. The experience of running in them is very unique, you can feel the surface much more than you can a regular shoes, the slightest curves of the road are felt and your feet adjust to it, small pebbles can be felt, but I had no issues running in them (I did start with shorter runs as recommended). I chose the V-Alpha for home exercises because I got the blue ones and, to be honest, they look too dorky to go outside with IMO. The v-alphas are very comfortable, but my foot is a little wide so I sense a little tension in the middle of my foot, but it is not bothersome at all. The material on the V-Alpha is unique, Not sure how to describe it but it is soft, smooth, flexible and seems to protect against the wind slightly better than the others. I could see how some people say it feels like you aren’t even wearing a shoe, except my foot is fairly wide so I do feel it... but it feels good. The KSO EVO are my favorites overall, and I have chosen them to use at the gym. They do everything well, but the bottom of the shoe has only a thin layer of protection, so I thought they might wear down too fast for outdoor running. They fit great, look great (got the black and red ones) and I don’t have the same (slight) issue as I do with the v-alphas due to my wide feet. Happy with all of them, they are all good for different purposes. Review: EXCELLENT SHOE! EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! - Unfortunately, Vibram has discontinued this model so About six months ago, I bought a $120 pair kmd evos with the laces instead of Velcro. It was comfortable, but the lace design is not only a snag hazard, but it’s garbage and they ended up tearing off at the seam after 6 months of use. The soles were still in great condition, but the shoe was now useless unless I wanted to duct tape the tops where the laces used to be. Also, the suede starts to stink pretty bad and never comes out no matter what. This led to me trying to track down a pair of the KMD sports which used to be my go toe shoe until it was discontinued. This is my third pair and each one before has lasted me at least two years of heavy use. They are great in the gym for doing squats and deadlifts, and they are great for running and trail use (you have to ease into them otherwise you’ll injure yourself and blame the shoe). I wear a 10.5 men’s shoe with a little room in the toe pocket, but the five fingers are more comfortable when they have a snug, not tight, fit. I wear a 43 (9.5-10) and it fits me perfect. A little snug at first, but perfect once broken in. The seller, OUTLAND USA, got this product out to me in less than the advertised time and it was as advertised. Also, they sold them too me at a great price. I would definitely purchase these shoes from them again!

I love these shoes.
I've been a Vibram convert since my first pair purchased in 2011; which incidentally, haven't worn out and I'm still wearing. I have worn the Komodo Sport over many miles of back country travel in the Oregon Cascades. Wilderness cross country hiking is all about climbing; climbing over logs, climbing over boulders, climbing up scree and talus slopes, descending down grassy embankments.Wearing Vibrams allows me to grip the ground with my feet and toes, and on dry rock they lend an almost spider-man quality to my traction. They are virtually puncture resistant, but they afford almost zero protection if you kick a hard object like a a root stave in the trail. When you are wearing these you really need to watch your step. If you come down with a hard heel strike on a sharp stone you will definitely feel it. Also, being low cut, they can fill up with dirt, sand, or even small pebbles just walking through loose, soft, or wet soil. If you are a hunter or wild life photographer, these are the best stalking shoes since the moccasin. Also, if you enjoy speaking with total strangers just wear a pair of this around town. If my hair were on fire I believe it would be the Vibrams folks would want to ask me about. I've given so many personal endorsements of this product that the company should hire me as a spokesperson. So why only 4 not 5 stars? I've owned five pairs of Vibrams and every pair has been a 43 M EU. My latest pair is almost too tight to get on my feet. Maybe it's my feet that have changed and I shouldn't be blaming the manufacturer, but my latest pair of the shoes I love don't fit. I'll order a larger size next time.

Great shoes
If your feet don't need any extra support and you are not overweight these shoes are great. That's the advice I got from a associate at REI. I love these shoes. They are great in all kinds of terrain, light weight, reflective, easy to clean, and comfortable. They only thing I did not like was sand and rocks easily went into the shoe when I went into the water at the beach. The straps did not form a tight enough seal to prevent this.

Perfect replacement for Bikilas
My old Bikilas were finally due for retirement. To my dismay, I found out that Bikilas are discontinued. I ordered the SeeYa's in the same size (I'm a 9EE US, so I wear M42 for these). They felt a tad smaller when I first tried them on, but after 2 weeks of running they feel the same as my Bikilas. The cushioning (or lack thereof) is about the same as the Bikilas. I'm glad they ditched that worthless "shoelace" contraption and went back to the tried and true Velcro straps like the KSO's. Pic enclosed of my old Bikilas next to the new SeeYa's for comparison If you are looking to replace your old Bikilas, give these a go!

light and nice design
well, I recommend to go to a place where to try it first, my pinky toe at first became sore and my entire feet felt injuried. BUT I ran about 5K with them on a rubber/Tartan circuit. Then someone explained to me that little by little I was going to get used to. So then after two days I ran 1K and did crossfit with them and I felt OK! I wonder If there are a kind of Vibram to run long race whitout injuries. So, It fitted me a bit large and more on the pinky toes didn't reach and the shoe was too separated on the pinky toes. I liked but I wish they would be more comfortable. I hope to get used to them and use them more often and write more reviews about them :)! thanks for selling.

Great for Treadmill Desk
I'm 54 years old and I have a Lifespan treadmill desk in my home office. I put a lot of miles on it and at my age I have your typical nags. I was using a cross trainer shoe and I was experiencing mild shin, ankle and foot pain and I had to wrap band-aides on my toes to keep from blistering. When I have issues like these I try to find solutions so I can keep moving. I've got about 100 miles on these in a fairly short period of time and I feel great. The deck on my treadmill desk is very firm and I'm learning to get off the heals and land flatter. I feel these are helping me to improve my walking gait. It's not perfect, early on I was having a little bit of pain in my big toe on one foot and I've adjusted how I roll off the front of the foot. I don't want this review to sound like these are the answer to all aches and pains. Everyone is different and I did have to adjust to these in the early going. I have a tendency to over do it and I'm working hard to listen to my body. In the end it's not always the equipment that is the problem or the solution, it's the individual. I'm wearing Injinji socks and it's incredible how comfortable the combination is, I don't want to take them off. I'm very happy with this purchase. For fit: I'm usually a size 11.5-12 in athletic shoes and the 46 is perfect for my feet. Mark

Right shoe defected after a couple of months.
The left shoe is great. Right shoe fell apart. Too bad cause I had my last pair for 10 years! Maybe the adhesive changed, but strange it was just the right shoe. Looks like their warranty isn’t covered on five fingers. Beware there’s a chance you’ll get a defective pair.

Fit for purpose... and then some.
Two years ago I broke my neck and am now on the rocky road to recovery. I am in the army and although I have always passed all the relevant fitness tests, I have also always struggled with steady state running. I encountered these trainers for the first time at a martial arts training session just prior to my injury. The colleague with them swore by them, saying that for athletes who regularly train barefoot they were the perfect footwear for running. I reached the point where I could start running properly again so I figured it was a good time to try and improve my running style. My concept was that as martial arts were my preferred exercise regime I should try and apply as much of the body mechanics and stresses as possible to my running... and it worked! I no longer feel like running and martial arts training are worlds apart. With these trainers I feel more in tune with my body and can make use of the muscles groups that are already developed. The back and knee pains I typically experienced on a hard run are a thing of the past as the shock of impact is properly dissipated through my lower leg. The rapid fatigue I expected never happened because the flexibility in the shoe allowed me to relax my body during running and therefore conserve energy. Even running on uneven ground (a common concern from people considering using them) proved easy and safe: It seems that the flexibility the shoe grants your foot allows you to 'smother' rocks that would normally cause discomfort to tread on with a hard-soled trainer that forces your foot to remain straight. This smothering again dissipates the impact. I am no scientist but my understanding of body mechanics and anatomy convinces me these shoes accommodate a more natural way of running. In summary then, I'm no fan of running. I prefer short explosive exercise with periods of recovery. These shoes have, to an impressive degree, allowed me to apply the natural movements I am familiar with (and physically/physiologically suited to) to running. As an added bonus, they're excellent as a trainer to use if the conditions for martial arts training don't lend themselves to going barefoot (such as a dirty boxing gym floor or outdoor training area). I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Bare feet
I bought these for my son he is a personal trainer. And he said his work out are easier with these on and he get no back pain. They are great.

They are great
I read a number of books about barefoot running after visiting a running shop and finding out that I naturally run on my forefoot. I was suffering from ankle pain and I wanted to find something to cure this. Sports massages and compression socks helped but did not solve the problem. Once I knew I was running on my forefoot but in trainers made for shod running I knew I had to change my running style or my shoes. I choose the Vibram because I wanted a minimal shoe, that protected my sole over long runs and they look cool. I originally ordered the KSO in a size too small. After many emails with Richard of Loscarla I settled on the Komodo as I run both off road and on road. I also used the size guide on Loscarla's website to make sure I had the correct size. They fit perfectly and are brilliant for both road and off road running. I started by running a couple of miles at a time and am now starting to increase the distance to 4 - 6 miles. My calf muscles do tighten up towards the end of the run but I am not suffering from the same pain I was before which stopped me running. As my technique is improving and my legs are getting used to it I can go further and faster. You do have to concentrate on your technique whilst learning to run in these shoes. I have not had any blisters or discomfort and they are now very easy to put on. I am working towards running a marathon in January and if things remain the same the training will be a pleasure and injury free.
