If there is likely a leak, then you can turn on the UV light to check it. What's more, the UV light is also available to check currency and dried stains. Both these 2 lights will shut off after 10 seconds without manual shutdown. Warning Before detecting AC voltage, test the meter on a known live circuit to verify whether it is working properly. Do not rely on the detector to determine whether there is voltage or not on the wire, because the voltage may still exist even if there is no alarm indication for the result may be affected by other factors. Good little device.
Neat little device, work's well enough for what I wanted, comes with batteries, ready to go. It does trigger when it's anywhere near mains voltage, so I was getting a warning when I was within about 12" of a live circuit, but contacting the live wire gave a faster reading, so it was accurate enough for me to ascertain whether there was voltage present when changing a light switch. Good purchase.

Good electrical safety device
I bought this after moving house and needed to replace some light fittings and sockets. I'm not an electrician but It has proved valuable a couple of times. I always test it first on a know live cable and use it in conjunction with a neon screwdriver tester. Recommended.

Dont buy.
Terrible bit of work. Batteries are flimsey and are continuesly losing contact. Couldnt use this for my works day, sent it back the very next day.

Good personal protection
Had to wire up an outside light but had not idea if the switch inside was the correct way round. Didn't want to turn the power off, so used this to determine whether a current was present or not. Very clear indication, could then proceed with confidence.

molto buono, sensibile al punto giusto
Non ne ho provato altri, ma per mia necessità questo mi va bene. Lo utilizzo come scanner per trovare dietro il muro o sotto il pavimento la traccia del positivo per poter seguire i vari caveggi per portare l'antenna ad uscire da una presa, senza dover fare uno scavo dedicato nel muro. Ho anche un metal detector, ma si confonde con l'armatura ed altro ferro, questo no perchè rileva corrente. Per me utilissimo, "scende" fino a 4 cinque dita.
