Natural Choices Oxy -Boost - Oxygen Stain Remover Powder - Bleach Alternative for Laundry - Chlorine-Free Multi-Purpose Cleaner and Deodorizer (5 lb)

I love this product and cannot recommend it enough. It uses the same chemical that is in the OxyClean you find in the grocery store, but it is much more concentrated. I use it to wash my white linen napkins that I use for Christmas and Easter dinners--they come out clean and white, white, white. I recently used it to clean an antique lace wedding veil that was completely brown. It is now snow white. The method that I have found that works best is to boil a large stock pot of water on the stove. After the water has come to a boil, I put the pot in the sink, add the items that I want to wash, then add some regular detergent and a scoop of the OxyBoost. I learned the hard way not to do this on the stove because the hot water causes the Oxyboost to create a large amount of suds that will overflow the pot. However, after the sudsy water flowed out all over my stove and onto the floor, I discovered that OxyBoost is a great cleaner for the grout on my kitchen tile floor which after 13 years had become black with dirt (regular floor cleaning solutions did nothing). I let the items soak in the pot for several hours or overnight and then put them into the washing machine to rinse out the soap (except for delicate items like the veil.) My husband had several white dress shirts that had yellowed with age, but were otherwise fine. After soaking them in OxyBoost they are white again.

I use it for white laundry. It works very well though I have not used it for cleaning the carpet, etc. I like it b/c it is a non toxic product. 6/19/16: I used Oxyboost to clean the carpet of dog urine. Over 2 yrs & 3 mths dog urine was not well cleaned w/ distilled white vinegar. I used it 4xs: applied diluted solution to the carpet, waited 20 minutes then soaked up the solution w/ a big old towel. I did it again w/ fresh Oxyboost & 3 more big old towels. Huge difference! Carpet has no more urine stain even my mother is happy. Odor improved 70%. No more Oxyboost. I will buy 10 lbs directly from Ecogeeks.

The active ingredient in all the oxygen bleaches as well as "Oxiclean" is the same - Sodium Percarbonate. When it mixes with water it produces a dilute mix of hydrogen peroxide and sodium carbonate. The hydrogen peroxide is what does the cleaning. The primary difference between the various oxygen bleaches, "Oxyclean" and other oxygen boosters is the percentage of active ingredients verses filler. This oxygen bleach appears to be about as high a concentration of active ingredients as is available. Unfortunately, the latest generation of higher efficiency clothes washers uses less water in the wash and rinse cycles. I have had problems with Oxyclean leaving white flakes on dark clothes. This appears to be caused by the extra fillers in Oxyclean. Using a more concentrated oxygen bleach allows me to get the same cleaning with half the amount - which results in much less white flakes on the clothes.

Okay, so, my only fear with this product is my nagging doubt its actually safe but...I have no validation of this, I just figure since it's so effective there must be something wrong with it. BUT, besides this disclaimer.... I LOVE IT! Omg I love it. I soaked my baby's cloth diapers in it overnight and was SHOCKED that the poopy stains that had been there forever with the 7th Generation (which I thought was the peak of compromise as it worked so terribly, I assumed it was perfectly wonderfully natural as how could something be so ineffective AND toxic - well!) anyway - THEY CAME OUT. WAS SO HAPPY. I looked at the cloth diaper inside and I was like...WOW, is this really happening. I remain in this state of disbelief. I once - maybe a decade a go - used OxiClean and my Mom freaked out because she said it was super toxic but - she didn't have to freak out because I broke in hives ALL. OVER. MY. BODY. Was HORRIFIC. I guess it was like adult shingles or similar but I was red all over and it was so terrible I was like WOW, never using anything like that to clean clothes again. So I was a little worried with the similarity in name but, no horrible reaction and now I wash all my clothes in it! I also use soap nuts and Arm & Hammer super washing soda (but the poopy stains came out in the overnight soak). SO HAPPY! Hope this product works for you!

Cabt tell if this works but I noticed after buying that the box says chlorine bleach. When you look at the images of the listing it says chlorine bleach on the first images but all the other images don't mention chlorine or specially say chlorine free so I'm not sure what I actually recieved and now scared to use it.

I would have posted an update sooner but was unable to do so because of health issues. Anyway, I contacted the company who was absolutely wonderful. They refunded the money, including shipping costs the next day and did not even ask me to return the product. They also made some suggestions for what may have caused the bizarre problem. Unfortunately, none was the case for me so I'm not sure if it reacted strangely with our water or what. I would suggest that people start off with a small load of dishtowels or something they care less about, just in case they have a similar experience. I think it's great that the company offers a natural and healthy alternative to oxi-clean and clorox 2, which I refuse to buy. It is truly hypoallergenic as the company claims. I'm severely allergic to practically everything and I had no reaction to this. My roommate at the time decided to keep it. Since his clothes were ruined with it as well, he never used it for laundry again and was unable to get it to clean grout, although the grout was really old so maybe that's why. While it did not work for anything else, he loves using it to remove pen ink from his white coat (He's a doctor). He said he has to use a ton, scrub really hard and repeat several times to finally get it to work, but if you have ink on something, I suppose it's worth a shot since ink can be difficult to remove. I will say that the coat was all synthetic fiber which had no negative effects from the product. All of the clothing ruined was cotton so maybe it works better with synthetics, at least in our water. We live in NW Philadelphia, PA in case that helps. While, I do still hate the product, I truly loved the company and wanted to add a new review to reflect that. Most people have had exceptional experiences with this, so I would recommend trying it since the company does go above and beyond if it doesn't work out. Few companies have customer service like they do. I would definitely be willing to try other products they make. I am truly sorry that I was unable to add an update sooner. To read what I originally wrote, please see below. I decided to try this based on the rave reviews I read on multiple sites. I had tried rockin green detergent before, which worked fabulously for absolutely everything. I wasn't allergic to it and oxy-boost has the same main ingredient. I wanted an environmentally friendly alternative to oxyclean which would work and not cause allergic reactions. I followed the directions exactly and used the minimum recommended amount in cold water. I've never had colors bleed, the clothing was years old so it had been washed many times and I even threw in a color catcher sheet to be safe. Color bleeding galore. The sheet couldn't contain it. I had previously stopped even using the sheets because there was never anything at all on them. Plus, one shirt that had a fresh, not yet dried stain did not even lighten. It actually came out looking more stained than when it went in. I tried once more with only one shirt because after the other reviews I convinced myself I must have been doing something wrong. I used a lot less the second time because even though I had originally the smallest amount recommended, I thought maybe it was just too much. The same thing happened with a shirt that wasn't new. Even with a color catcher sheet the water turned bright blue, the white stripes turned blue and the water became immediately more blue than the shirt right before my eyes. Now, all of the clothing washed looks hundreds of years old. I've taken exceptionally good care of my clothing so that it had all looked brand new even years later. Now with one time of washing with even less than the smallest amount, the clothing is so hideous and so physically worn out from this stuff that I'll need to throw it away and replace it all. It looks so bad, I don't even think goodwill would take it. The stuff didn't remove a new stain so I seriously doubt it would work on grout like it suggests and I wouldn't dare use it on the carpet as I don't want to replace that too. It's bad enough I have to replace all of my clothing but I don't even think I'll get my money back. It cost $10 just for the shipping. Obviously I opened it to use it since I had wanted it, the box didn't have a receipt in it and I could print one off of my amazon account but as there was no original I wouldn't be able to send it to anyone. I've never had to return anything through amazon and couldn't find anything about returns with this specific company. When I went to the company's website tonight, I found something about returns purchased through their site which says that they don't refund the $10 shipping I paid already or the return shipping (which I assume will be about $10) unless the item is defective. Obviously, it's worse than defective. Defective would have been that it just didn't help stains. But it says even if it's defective you need the original receipt which is nonexistent and the original packaging which I didn't know at the time because it wasn't written on amazon the day I bought it. As far as the original packaging, the box was really too small for the product and I couldn't even get the thing out without ripping the box to shreds. At the time I thought it was environmentally friendly of them but now I think it's so you can't return their crap. Who is going to waste the little free time they have to go find another box, buy the new box, pay to ship it back and only end up with about $20 when they spent over $40 for the whole ordeal-which doesn't include the cost of replacing clothing. Do you know how much it costs to replace more than a load of clothing. Some of it was my boyfriend's too so it's not like I'll just due without because the stuff wasn't even mine. That's if they even refund anything at all which it sounds like they wouldn't since they didn't include a receipt and sent me a too-small box. This was the worst and costliest laundry disaster I've ever seen or heard about.

I have used Oxy-Boost for a couple of years and am reordering again. It is safe and very effective. I read up on which was the best, purest product and this is the one I chose. I use it for whites mostly, and I have always had excellent results. I am very particular about my laundry, but I want effective products that are as safe for the environment as possible. I believe this product qualifies.
