Japanese Quality!
I just finished using this trimmer for the first time and I couldn't wait to get back to Amazon and write about how impressed I am. It's something I wish I had bought years ago. Essentially, after a few months of self-neglect, I just had way more hair down there and under my arms than I wanted to try to deal with with a razor. It would have taken me at least an hour to get at it with scissors first and then to get in the shower and shave... definitely would have run out of hot water before I finished. So I came to Amazon to look for a trimmer. The reviews for all of them are so mixed, you never know what to trust, but this one won me over. I didn't know this was made in Japan until I got it (even though Panasonic is a Japanese company, you never know if the product was made in-country or not), but now that I do know, that explains how awesome it is. In Japan, they don't have a culture of returning items. When you buy something, the expectation is that it will work. If it stops working, you'll get it fixed and then it will continue working and you'll probably die before it does. To that end, I am so happy that this trimmer not only does what it's supposed to, but it does it well AND replacement blades are available when/if I need a new one. I read a lot of reviews where I think people were expecting this to shave completely smooth. It's not going to do that. It's just a trimmer, like hair clippers. If you want to shave your head, you use the clippers first and then shave it completely smooth. Otherwise, you just have a buzz cut. That is what this is like. If you want baby's bottom smooth, you need to shave after you trim. That being said, it trims pretty dang close. I may or may not shave after because 'barely there' is usually good enough. I didn't bother with using the attachment since I wanted as close a cut as possible, and even with all of the hair I needed to manage, there was no pain, no catching, no pre-trimming with scissors required. It took me about 10 minutes to do both arm pits and the entirety of my lady parts. After I finished, I used the brush that's included to brush hair off of the trimmer, then I popped out the blade and brushed the hair out of the inside. Then I took a Clorox Wipe and just cleaned it up completely (although, that part is not necessary - it just makes me feel better to do that). I just keep thinking about how much time this saved me and I'm so happy. It didn't get hot either. I can't imagine what you'd need to shave for it to take long enough for it to get hot because I most likely had an 'infomercial-level of ridiculous' amount of hair to trim and it didn't warm up at all. The only complaint I have is that I wish there were a wrist strap because I was kinda worried that I might drop it into the toilet. Also, it has about the same sound as clippers used in a barber shop, so, plan for something of that volume. Overall, I highly, highly recommend it!

Simple, well-functioning, comfortable
It's been a relief to have something just for me instead of using hand me down beard trimmers, so maybe my bar wasn't super high to begin with, but I've been loving this trimmer since day one, over a year and a half ago. It's been so great to use; comfortable to hold and it's never hurt, pulled, or cut too close (though I always use the guard, but at the lowest setting). I'm actually super impressed with how little battery it seems to use; I put in batteries when I first got it, and though I don't use it every day, I haven't had to change them yet! I saw some other reviews about not being able to use it in the shower, and it seems that only the head of it is supposed to be waterproof, and so I never expected to use it in water. I trim, then shower, so it'll last longer by not getting wet and rusty/gunky. And it doesn't take up much space in my tiny bathroom, nor does it have a pile of attachments to clutter things up, so I appreciate the minimalist value of it as well. I'm super happy with this thing. I'd buy it again, but happy I won't need to!

Great way to a get a clean look without irritation
I bought this razor a few months ago because I wanted the bare look, but my skin is very sensitive and shaving just wasn't cutting it. Waxing was too expensive/painful/embarrassing/messy of an option for me and epilators seemed intimidating as well. This is a great, economical option for me. I use it without the guard and get the hair down to just a stubble (I've never cut myself). That avoids any skin irritation (itching or bumps) but still keeps things neat. I'd give it five stars if it could make it completely smooth, but that probably brings back irritation issues. The head is too wide to get around areas with folds, so I use it in combination with the Finishing Touch Lumina Lighted Hair Remover with Pivoting Head to get to areas around my lips and between my butt cheeks. I also have no problem using a razor and cream to shave around my lips - it's only the mons that get irritated, so you might try that to get the smoothest results where it counts most :-) I've also used it, with the guard, to trim the longer hairs around my boyfriend's nipples. I'm guessing you could use it for other areas of the body, like trimming sideburns or neck hair, if you wanted to, making it versatile, cheap, quick and effective. A good buy.

Convenient, works well for the purpose I intended
Purchased this product several years ago for bikini area trimming and shaping (and as a substitute for shaving) after finally becoming too fed-up with the irritation and annoyance of shaving. This trimmer is slender enough to easily maneuver, and I find that its use without the removable guard provides sufficient hair removal to replace shaving, for me. Don't expect a baby-smooth finish, since this product will not yield a "close-shave," but I much prefer this experience to the itching and in-grown hairs and irritation and hassle I experienced for years with shaving. Has stood up incredibly well to occasional use over the course of nearly 4 years; still runs on the batteries first installed. The removable/adjustable guard (I believe it has four different settings to allow for a longer trim to a very short trim) is very helpful for personalizing your trim and makes cleaning the blades much easier, made easier still by a handy little brush. Comes in a convenient suede-style, pull-string baggie for storage/travel. A reliable and convenient addition to your personal grooming routine, whether to replace shaving or to supplement shaving with shaping/trimming. I will continue to use for years to come. Do note - I do not believe this product is water-resistant - do not use in the shower with the water running! I expect you'd run into issues either with damaging the trimmer or with hurting yourself!

Best trimmer of it's kind
I've had various cordless trimmers, all of them were rechargeable, and all of them lost power within a year or two and the cost of replacing the battery was almost as much as the trimmer. This trimmer takes 2 standard AA batteries. I use Sanyo Eneloop rechargables which are excellent. This trimmer is very powerful for it's small size. It fits the hand well. Many cordless trimmers I had in the past were overly bulky. It's a "bikini" trimmer, and it works great for my girlfriend, but I use it too, and we both love it. I've trimmed my beard, my hair, and all parts and it's great. The adjustable length mechanism works very well and is removable, as are the blades which can be removed and thoroughly cleaned (and replaced if necessary). This product is very well designed, and at an excellent price. I highly recommend it. P.S. - The item doesn't come with batteries. As I said earlier, I highly recommend Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries. They're NiMH batteries but with a new design so they keep their charge ("normal" NiMH rechargeable batteries rapidly lose their charge entirely after only a month even when they're not being used at all). Sanyo claims an unused Eneloop battery will still have up to 85% of it's charge after 1 year, and my experience with them seems to confirm that.

Great trimmer, but don't run it under water!
I love this trimmer. It's a great value at $13.99, and it will not cut you. It's cordless which I find very nice. I have had many moments in my life where I needed to trim only to find that the battery was dead, and I needed to plug the device into the wall for a few hours. Nobody has time for that! This trimmer uses 2 AA batteries. It has a plastic guard that can be adjusted according to how long/short you want to cut your hair. I have used this on private parts, chest hair, and armpit hair without any issues. I have read reviews that many customers have had this device for years without issues. For me, I may have gotten a bad one because it broke after only two uses! This is because I used water to clean it. REPEAT: DON'T RUN IT UNDER WATER! Use only the brush included to wipe away any loose hair. I have replaced the broken one because when it does function properly, it works great!

Adequate, but not a great shaver
This shaver is poorly designed. The on-off switch, for example, is a sliding switch instead of a push button or a sliding switch that moves easily. It requires a great deal of thumb effort just to turn it on or off. I'm a man, not a tiny woman, and it's difficult for me, so women get ready to exercise your thumb. The cutting ability is fine, but it will not cut close to your skin by any means. For that, you'll need another razor in addition to this. I suggest the "CleanCut" which is drop dead amazing at removing all hair so you're completely smooth. My sexy wife and I know this to be true. I'd give this razor maybe a "B". It seems well made and will probably last for years (but I have no idea), but it's just not comfortable or easy to use. I have a small battery-operated Remington razor for trimming personal hair that is miles ahead of this thing. The small Remington has a sliding button that slides easily and a very easy-to-use hair length guide to raise and lower the amount of hair you want left. The adjustable hair length guide on this razor is just as hard to use as its on-off switch, meaning very hard. It's just not a very good razor, that's all. I'd pass on it if I were you.

Very Pleased
This trimmer is fantastic. It works very well. I used to use scissors to trim my downstairs area, and talk about OUCH. I cut myself too many times to continue with that form of grooming. I also do not shave completely bare because I cannot stand the re-growing process. Enter the bikini shaper and trimmer! It has changed my grooming habits! I use this trimmer without the trimming guide (I remove the head completely), and I haven't had one cut from not using it. This does not leave a completely hairless shave, but I already knew that prior to my purchase. Using it without the trimming guide leaves minuscule hair and feels great. If you use the trimming guide, you will still have quite some hair left, especially depending on the setting (setting ranges from 1-5 for length of hair). I use it toward the grain, against the grain, and all over down there, and I have not had any problems with re-growth or itching. I would highly recommend this product for individuals looking for a great downstairs trimmer. Not only is it great for women, but my husband uses it, too! He highly recommends it for males who do not want to go completely hairless but want to tidy things up down there. Note: I have not had any problems with batteries or overheating. I've used this trimmer three times so far without having to change the batteries.

Great product!
This works really well. It trims hair quickly and easily. And it is so easy to clean! I have had bikini trimmers in the past that constantly "jam" up because the shaving head snaps onto a sort of bar that vibrates and something just gets stuck even with oil added. I wanted to try this because of the different design hopefully avoiding that problem. And it does!

it's ok
It's a bit scratchy and is a bit bulkier and heavier than others. The comb attachment leaves hair very long so is pretty useless

I've had it for 10 months and its still in great condition!
Bought this 10 months ago and I use it weekly. Still works great and everything is intact. If you want yours to last a long time as well, remember to remove the batteries after each use and dont use it in the shower! Also remove any hairs that might get stuck cos it will accumulate if you dont remove it! I used to use it with the guard but now i'm confident enough to use it without and it does a pretty decent job.

Perfect!
This is the second one I've bought. I somehow lost the connecter to the battery on the first one when I dropped it. If something happens to this one I'll just buy another one, there's no point in looking elsewhere. What's so great about it? It's great value. It cuts hairs very well, never snags. The batteries last absolutely ages. It's really easy to clean, comes apart nicely. It does the job with the least amount of fuss I've ever experienced with a trimmer.
