Colman's Fresh Garden Mint Sauce, 2.25 Litre

I used to love Colmans Mint Concentrate. Easily one of the best mint “sauces” and I would literally eat it raw, but additionally, would make the best base for a more typical sauce.When it was discontinued approx 7/8 years ago, I was dismayed, to the point of contacting Colmans/Unilever to confirm if this was truly the case… sadly, it was.Since then, I’d tried to find a suitable replacement, going so far as looking up the recipe to replicate from scratch, but could just not get anything anywhere near the same…Fast forward to Dec 24 and after trying a reasonably tasty ASDA own brand mint sauce, I was reminded of the fabled Mint concentrate, and on off chance, looked on Amazon to see if maybe it had been relaunched… no dice.However, I did notice this product. Initially, I almost immediately dismissed it as “mint sauce” normally means the heavily sugared and “slimy” sauces that are standard, but I noticed the recipe was… the same as mint concentrate. I then perused the Q&A here and lo and behold, someone stated it is the same as old mint concentrate!!I was surprised and a little skeptical, but for the price, it was worth giving it a go.I am so glad I did. This is -exactly- the same as the old mint concentrate and I have been ecstatic at discovering this. Needless to say, the entire 2.25kg of it has been demolished in less than a month.This is the real deal, and easily one of the best mint “sauce” products available.

Excellent value for a huge bottle.It’s only for personal use and I’m not going to be able to use it all unfortunately. But, I can’t find this Fresh Garden Mint Sauce in any shops where I live. This is the smallest size I can find online.It’s quite simply the best mint sauce! I really dislike the two kinds in the shops which both have sugar in it and one is a jelly. This fresh mint sauce was originally the main one sold, I don’t understand why it’s not available locally anymore.Im so grateful I found this :)

As far as bottled mint sauce goes this is by far the best one and the one most like real mint sauce.vakue for money is amazing as the size of the tub is mahoosive!! I dilute it down using a bit of malt vinegar as it's really thick. All in all it's really good value and tastes really good too!

So pleased I found this. Can not be found in any of the shops , just the awful jelly-like ones available. I love the taste of this, as far as I'm concerned the original and best! Have ordered more in case this one disappears as well!

We rebuy this product every few months as my family loves mint sauce with their Sunday dinners or any meal with mash. We have a small glass jar which used to have mint sauce in it, we add vinegar and sugar to this so that it lasts longer and we can cater the taste to our liking. Very versatile and has saved us a lot of money.We used to buy small jars from the shops frequently and getting this has saved us more money than I could even try to calculate in the long run. We first got this as a joke present in 2016 and haven't bought a small jar since.

I always used to buy Colmans fresh garden mint sauce and now this is the only way I can get it - the only one in the country that isn't sweetened, seemingly.I don't understand how gherkins and now mint have sugar added - it's the opposite of what I would have predicted 10 years ago - not only does it make it worse but it's also worse for you. Have they sold more of this stuff now it is sweeter and decided that's the only one to sell?Anyway, this is the proper stuff, some of the other reviews mention it being gritty and I may have been lucky but haven't noticed that yet, I'll come back if I do.For your info, it has 16 months shelf life. Perfect to add to gravy...love this stuff, not sure I'll get through this before it goes out of date and have to buy another one.

Arrived damaged lid so having to try and find another one as hassle to return!
