Very helpful guide to understand how your skin and hair color are best matched with your wardrobe. Stop wasting money on items that don't bring out your best! It's an old publication so some of the depictions are dated, but it's still a good explanation on how we all have a style of dressing that suits each person, too. When I started following the color guide I found I was able to easily scan racks of clothes and think, "yes, this color works for me" or "nope, don't even try on". Love it! I also bought the color wheel for my "season" which is handy to take along when shopping.

This book has it all - color charts, examples, befores and afters and a TON of helpful, thoughtful information. It's an easy read and very well organized. I managed to find a color swatch book for my season, and I have completely changed my wardrobe for one that really makes me feel and look a LOT better. Now it I could just find that wonderful 'tomato red' that looks so good on me... Oh well, there are LOTS of other colors that I know love and enjoy! Thank you Carole (and everyone involved in the CMB program) for putting this very much needed and helpful information into one concise book. I even found the website and the make-up is EXQUISITE! Now I look like I know what I am doing when it comes to both wardrobe and make-up! My husband thanks you too! He has even started going shopping with me, now that it is no longer the most frustrating time of togetherness, and he is getting very good at picking out the perfect styles and colors for me! We have a lot of fun on our shopping trips and we enjoy treating each other to a nice relaxing meal afterwards. This book and the system just might have saved my marriage! LOL ;-)

The color analysis concept has evolved since this book was written from four seasons to twelve seasons, with three different intensities of each of the original four seasons. I find this book very good for distinguishing between the four seasons, with excellent color charts. Once you have determined your season, other resources can help you select your intensity and the specific color choices that work best with your intensity. Fashion has changed a lot since this book was written, so you might want to just skip over or skim those chapters. For instance, the book recommends blue eye shadow for my season, but blue eye shadow is not currently in style. However, those chapters do contain some useful advice such as which jewelry metal colors go best with your season.

This is a must have to understand what color to wear, even though the style of dress and makeup is TOTALLY OUTDATED!!! But for a good laugh. But, this book is essential as far as the technical aspect of choosing color to wear... This book is a great book to understand and enter into the market. I bought the whole series and read them from cover to cover. This is not for the advanced student, but the beginner. I also think that fashion designers should have a thorough understanding of color theory, which is really not taught that much or well. It is also a very complex subject to learn and understand. BUT!!!!! There is hope!!! if you want to know about Color theory to get even better.... COLOR WORKS, the crafter Guide to Color by Deb Menz FOR ANYONE who wants to know about Color Theory this test breaks it down so that ANYONE can understand this subject. I learned more about color theory in this book than all others put together because I now "Understand" the concept. While this book is for the textile artist, ALL artists should get it and is also has cut outs to use when choosing your colour palette whether it be for Fashion Design or Art. This book is a MUST HAVE!!!!

It's shocking that this book was written in 1984!!! There are so many timeless truths in here. I bought this book expecting to find information that was restricted to the 4 seasons but got much more out of it. I found it very wholesome. It's definitely a life changer in terms of understanding [your] style. I've understood concepts I knew subconsciously, I've learnt more about my body & style, I've understood what I'm doing right & wrong, I've understood why some things just don't work even when I continue forcing issues & I've acquired vocabulary that'll help me explain a few concepts to my friends. This book is a must read if you want to understand yourself & your style 😉

this is definitely my second Bible. It makes such a difference when you know "your colors," I promise! Shopping also becomes so much easier because you begin to notice what does and doesn't enhance our wonderful womanly beauty :) i also became the go-to shopping buddy for my friends because they saw what a difference it made and wanted to look that good too! i started getting very specific compliments (that color looks great on you! that dress accentuates your _____! i love your glow, how do you do your make-up? etc.) and my self-confidence was and continues to be through the roof when i wear "my colors!" The book also has chapters dedicated to personal style, accessories and make-up. Very useful. This is an awesome present for a pre-pubescent girl so they can know what looks good and what doesn't from the very beginning. xoxo

Color Me Beautiful was written in the 80's, bearing that in mind, the book is decent. It offers the basic color pallettes for the Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn seasons and helps you determine with season is yours. It offers basic wardrobe information and ways to help you organize your closet and shop for clothes that fit your body type. However, while reading this book, one must keep in mind that the tips are from the 80's. If you want a more modern book, this isn't for you. If you know how to take this information and turn it into more modern advice, then this is a great deal. If you are going to purchase this book new, rather than used, I would say you can find better more up-to-date books for the prices. However, if you purchase it used, it is a very nifty books that you can get some basic color analysis information from and save you a bit of money.

I think I first bought this book back in the 70's and then again in 2000 something (LOL) At first glance I was intrigued by authors scientific approach to using color to bring out ones natural coloring and beauty. The use of color to bring out our innate personality. Color using a set of colors that would work consistently in beatifying me thrilled me to no end. I had noticed that there were certain colors that seemed to always get me compliments. The fact that the compliments were given on two levels and that Color Me Beautiful book would help me identify the compliment that was solely because the color made me look lovely as opposed to someone just liking a color I happen to be wearing. Even if a color looks great in the department store, it is still a good idea to check the color in the sunlight if you can. Looking always for a color that reflects your face in a better light, does not turn you green or gray or bring out the lines in your face if you are a mature woman like myself.

I remember my Mom had Color Me Beautiful when I was a kid in the 80s so I suppose it's always been hiding somewhere in my psychic makeup. When a friend got me this book as a joke gift about 10 years ago, I shelved it, until I pulled it out one day... The truth is, it's full of good advice (some dated, some timeless) and once you nail your 'season' you're set for life: shopping really IS easier. And everything in my wardrobe looks good together and my colors really do make me look more vibrant. I've since bought this book as a gift for a few people. They shelve it, until they pull it out one day...

Mon amie utilisait déjà ce livre dans les années 80 pour créer ses jardins en fonction des saisons car à chaque saison correspond un évential de couleurs. Mon époux vient de me demander de lui en commander un autre exemplaire car il l'utilise dans son métier de peintre d'intérieur et il avait donné le sien à un collègue.
