Good start ahead the season
It's a heating mat, I never checked how hot it gets. It does it's job well, It shortened the germination time with almost a week for my pepper/paprika seedlings. It feels durable. I think it's worth the investment if you want to start early in the season. Good gardening investment. You are unpacking it then plug it in. Easy peasy.

Helped seeds germinate rapid
Made a huge difference in germination time for chillies and tomatoes. I have used it for other seeds as well and it has performed as expected. Will have to see if it stands the test of time as it is only used when needed at the start of the year. The heat is a little uneven with colder parts but I moved the seeds around. Great price and worth getting if you germinate your own seeds .

Handy piece of kit to get a flying start with germination
Bought this as an alternative to a heated propagator, and it works for me. I have successfully germinated chilli seeds using nothing more than covered plastic food containers. I used a newspaper under the mat as insulation & kept an eye on it initially, as it has no thermostat. I need not have worried - it gives out a constant gentle heat. Two points - allow your compost/soil to warm up before sowing seeds and water regularly, as the mat will dry out the compost quicker than usual.

Good for seedlings I believe but not for dough rising - Too Hot
I should think that this would be fine for raising seedlings in a small propagation container. I can’t see any problem with this but I thought I’d give it a chance to see if it would be good enough to rise my bread dough.Unfortunately for this purpose it is not suitable as the temperature is way too high for this. Dough, especially sourdough needs a temperature of around 23 to 28 with 25c being a good number to aim for. My kitchen gets quite cool at night, down to around 18c so I need something to keep my sourdough at a better temperature. This may however puts the temperature up to around 40 degrees Centigrade or 104 Fahrenheit. It’s certainly fine for regular yeast and if you want a quick loaf but for sourdough it’s not going to give enough time to allow the sourdough to develop the gluten and it will overproof and ruin the sourdough. To get around this and to make it a usable proposition, I have placed a large glass container on the mat first, then placed my sourdough into it in another bowl that fits. This then takes the temperature of the dough to around 25-27c so can be used like this. Cheap way considering the low cost of this mat, although I would prefer a more approachable way with an adjustable temperature controller. So - fine for seeds. Not too good for dough.

Not too bad actually...
Bought this to help germinate seeds. Besides not having a temperature control feature, it's a nice piece of equipment to have and utilize.
