The "D" Word: A Picture Book for Kids Whose Parents Are Getting Divorced

I am an elementary school counselor, and like to use this book to start a conversation with students whose parents are getting divorced. Students relate well to the situations the character talks about, and it easily broaches sometimes uncomfortable conversations. I would recommend for grades 1st-4th

If you work with kids at all this book give terrific helpful tips on how to help them gain insight and knowledge as to go through a difficult situation and still love both parents.

This book is really quite good. I use it a lot in my practice. It's one of the few divorce books that I've found wherein the parents don't just seem to get along as well as they did before the divorce. This book is much more true to kids' experience.

Very well done book on helping kids accept divorce. I will use this a lot with my kids at school in my social work practice.

Great book. Helps kids understand about divorce. I read this to my son as well as my group in school and they all fell in love with it. It helps kids relate to one another and also to being a kid having to go through the divorce. Offers great opportunity for discussing feelings about divorce or separation

I like the fact that this is not too wordy or preachy and gives enough informatin to be helpful and thought provoking, without being too dense for smaller children to navigate.

I am a School Psychologist and needed a book to address this topic with one of my students. This book was relatable and fit the need perfectly. My student could relate to so many parts of it.

First JC book I read and it gave a good overview about divorce. Found her other books also extremely helpful and informative, written in a kid friendly and funny way. Really enjoyed reading her books to my kids and great resource to help kids deal with various dynamics and situations.
