Otterbox Defender Case with Holster Clip for Iphone 5s & Iphone 5 - Retail Packaging - Violet Purple/aqua Blue

I knew I wanted an Otterbox for my iPhone because my sister spoke very highly of hers. My toddler aged niece tends to take my sisters phone and drops it pretty frequently so her case has been tested many times. When I received my Otterbox I knew it must be pretty sturdy because I had to google how to get my phone in the case. There are two layers to the case. The outer layer which is a silicone outer layer. This layer is the predominant color for the case. Then there is an inner tougher case made out of polycarbonate. This layer is the secondary color on the case. This case feels sturdy, if a little bit heavy. I ordered the Defender Series which has a screen protector that covers the entire screen (but not the home button so you can still use thumbprint recognition on iphone 5s). I have broken my hand multiple times over the years and can experience some weakness in my right hand so I drop things occasionally without warning. The Otterbox takes it like a champ. I've dropped my phone on a variety of surfaces and haven't had any problems. The defender series comes with a holster clip but as I am not 85 or Ron Swanson I'm not going to use that so I can't comment on the functionality. I think the screen protector actually makes the phone a little bit easier to use. Typing on that tiny keyboard is not as much of a challenge but you still have the same swipe capabilities as before. Not sure if it is less responsive or more responsive but I've definitely noticed it's been easier to type with more accuracy with the screen protector. I do not believe the defender case is water resistant but I feel like if it were to fall victim to a spill your phone would probably survive because all ports are covered. Only the speakers are exposed. I highly recommend. I'm a lot more comfortable using my phone now because i'm not afraid I'm going to drop it and break it. This case seems to be well made and a really great deal.

I am extremely happy with this case - my iPhone is flung into my over-filled bag and churns round with an assortment of items which could easily crack the glass - I have no fears for its safety now it is in the Otterbox! It makes holding the phone very easy and it feels safe in my hand, not slippery. I have had no problems with the integrated glass cover and the touch screen - it is still immediately responsive. The texture of the case is pleasant to hold, but I am not sure how easily it would slide out of a TIGHT pocket though; it does add a little bulk to the phone and the surface of the case is matte/rubbery. I hasten to add, is is not squishy, it feels substantial and safe - not likely to slip out of my hand. This may be a negative for some people. The sense of security I get by using this Otterbox far outweighs the little extra thickness! I can put it in a blouse or dress pocket and remove the phone with no problems.

Product is authentic, and arrived in perfect condition. Excellent quality, in original packaging. I ordered in purple and Aqua and the colors are beautiful. I opted for the one-day shipping option, and item arrived next day, even to Avery rural area. Case is perfect for people who want rugged protection, but don't like the hassle of extra connectors similar to a life proof case. I will always use otterbox. Couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

This is not a "real" OtterBox. The case is fine, however, the screen protector is very poor quality. There are air bubbles underneath, and it is difficult to see through. Might work OK if you bought a separate screen protector and removed the one this comes with.

I like the color combination and it's an ok case, but it's a fake made in China. The Otter Box Defender I was trying to replace was made in Mexico and has a thicker, more rubber-like back and side covering and the screen protecter is much clearer.

This Otterbox Defender case seems like it will protect my iPhone much better than the Otterbox "Commuter" series. When my "Commuter" series case broke and my iPhone cracked, I knew I needed better protection. I believe I have found it in this "Defender" case. It is a genuine Otterbox case, I like the aqua/purple colors, it gives a snug fit, and it's nice to be able to use the holster clip when I am at the gym and when I'm out and about. I also really like that the holster cover can attach to the phone either screen side or back side, so when I want the screen more protected (like when it's in my backpack), I can have the hard holster case facing the screen to give it added protection.One thing that I don't really care for (and others have mentioned this as well), is the light plastic screen protector attached to the Otterbox case. I hesitate removing it, but I find it a bit bothersome, especially if some small piece of dirt gets under it - then you have to remove the entire case to clean it. It's a bit of a hassle. I also wasn't prepared for how heavy the case it - it does add some weight to the phone!Overall, though, this is a great case for me. I wouldn't hesitate to order another one.

Love these cases--they can withstand anything--no more worries about dropping cellphones and kid-proof too--it really protects and is super long lasting and durable. I bought a second one for my other phone as well. Worth the price. A+++

This case is a hard plastic, not rubbery at all. The black paint is chipping off from around the camera lens part after only 2 weeks. i had my last otterbox 2 years and still in perfect condition. I feel this is a knockoff, or otterbox is getting cheap! I will use this one for now, because i have already spent the $$.
