It is definitely somewhat big by gongfu standards for a single person, so if this is your first yixing teapot for brewing puerh, think about purchasing something 100-150 ml. On the other hand, it’s good for office use, where you want to make a couple quick brews, pour them into your cup, and go back to work.It passes all the tests. It’s most likely not fake/painted Yixing. Good heat retention. The lid is slightly leaky in the front, but, contrary to yixing fetishists out there, it’s not such a big deal.The half-moon shape is good for placing it in a hot water bath for heat retention, if you’re brewing something at home for company.Good first pot.

Excellent form, function and value.

This is a very nice Chinese Yixing tea pot. In the pictures it is shown wet with the water wicking off of it to show that it is real Yixing clay. When you wet the clay pots it will almost look like it is absorbing the water, not just appearing wet. (it's not a definite way of telling it's real Yixing clay buy it is one method)It is also shown upside down as there is water in it and the seal of the lid is so good that with the finger over the spout whole the pressure keeps the lid from falling off even though it is upside down.I have mine in my china cabinet and haven't used it yet as surprisingly it is a large teapot by Gongfu standards. (Not by traditional tea standards!!) If you are not familiar with Gongfu tea brewing with a Yixing teapot look it up online and you will see how this is part of a beautiful and calming tea ritual.

I was asked by another potential buyer if it is signed. It is, and the lid stays on if you need to try that, as I did.
