Dig Dig Digging

There are multiple versions of this book- this one is from the UK
I was disappointed to see the version I received was different from the version we checked out from the local library. This UK/ British version doesn't have the garbage truck page (which is our very favorite truck) and also on the large truck page calls the large trucks "lorries", a term I've never even heard before and our toddler has no idea what a lorry is- truly a British word. Still a very cute book, but I found the changes unexpected and disappointing.

Toddler loves it
I bought this for my 15 month old because he is vehicle obsessed and loves books. Usually he just randomly flips the pages around and points to things and asks what they are. Since we started reading this book, he asks me to actually read the words to him. The writing is very lyrical so I read the sentences in a fun way and it makes him smile and giggle. It's one of the few books that he'll actually let me read from start to finish. We probably read this book about 4x a day and I don't find that annoying it's so fun and quick. He usually sees it and says 'di di di' and I know it's time to read it again. The board book is a good size and not too thick. It's definitely worth the few bucks that it costs for sure.

Perfect for 2 yr old boy!
My 2 year old loves this book and we read it multiple times a day. I highly recommend looking up the song of it on you tube. Now I always sing it!

Favorite!!!
My son grew addicted to this book around 9 months old and would request it constantly all day long. He learned quickly to identify all the machines in it and could point to the correct ones before he could even speak the names of them. He easily caught every mistake we made (purposeful or not) when reading it. This is the most taped-up book in our house because my son fell asleep on it nightly and at naps for quite awhile. It still lives on though, and our younger child now loves it and requests it frequently. It is one I will keep for potential grandchildren, and I debate buying a new un-taped version or keeping this ultra-well-loved copy to remember how adored it was.

So So
This author chose a wierd selection of words to describe some of the sounds that the machines make. I don't like to read it because it reads wierd but my 2yr old son likes it alright. It is not his favorite either. The good thing it does teach is the "ing" variances of words like dig, dig, digging and squelch, squelch, squelching. A the end of each description it says "and they can work all day". My son has caught on to this usage of words so he has learned something from it.

Paperback is British Version!!!
My toddler and I absolutely loved this book when we checked it out from the library, so I decided to purchase our own copy. I went with the soft cover version to be sure we got the full story. Would be a five star review except that the version we received is British, so subs lorry for truck, rubbish for garbage, etc. Annoyed that it wasn't stated on the Amazon page.

Great book about the jobs of many work trucks! My 3 yr olds favorite
My son loves all things construction, and when we found this book at the library it was a sure winner! After several times of checking it out, I dicided that it might be good to just buy it on amazon. It was a used book, but was in great condition! This book goes though many work trucks, from tractors to diggers, rescue helicopter to bulldozers. It's a great book and the favorite every night before bed for my three year old.

Board book not exactly same as soft cover
We had a soft cover copy before this, but it did not stand up to my 1 year old son. We purchased the board book, but it is missing the helicopter page and many of the pages are cropped. My son was looking for objects which aren't in the board book. It is good quality, just not the same as the soft cover.

Great for digger obsessed toddler
2 year old loves this at bedtime! It’s a shame there isn’t a hardcover version but it’s a lovely read. Little one loves to finish off the sentences and point out everything going on. It’s a bit of a longer read than most of the other books we have at the moment. Would recommend for all little ones with a digger / vehicle obsession.

My toddler's favourite book!
Got this for my boy at 18 months. He became obsessed with diggers, after seeing one on a walk around the block. He adores this book and consequently mummy and daddy can recite it by heart! I thought it might have more about diggers in it, but it's only the one page.Good for bedtime as the diggers can rest all night. Shhhh.

Book looks great but so disappointed to receive it with"brilliant books for busy boys" written on the front cover as I have bought this for my 22m old granddaughter who happens to love vehicles. Why spoil a perfectly good book with such a ridiculous statement. I missed this when purchasing. I deliberately avoid buying books labelled "for boys" or "for girls". In this day and age it is outdated and unnecessary. I haven't read it to my granddaughter yet but I'm sure it will be something she will enjoy and the illustrations are lovely. It would have had another star without the daft stereotyping.

We love this book
We have the emergency book from this series so when I saw this I knew we absolutely had to get it. My vehicle obsessed toddler loves it! It's written really nicely and has lovely illustration.

Lovely book for nearly two year old!
Really nice book with good illustrations for lots of different transport options. My transport loving 21 month old loves it. All the transport drivers are men and there is only one or two females in the whole book- this would have put me off buying it possibly had I known.
