A fun read with kids and great illustrations!
I'm a world music teacher and I bought this book for my 5-6 year old students who are learning to play Chinese percussion music to accompany the Lion and Dragon Dances for Chinese New Year. I bought the Kindle version and display it via iPad/Apple Tv on my HDTV. They love it. I am particularly impressed with the illustrations of the Chinese family from San Francisco. Covers the basic New Year traditions. I like the extra details given in a side square in small font--good info for adults who might want to paraphrase for their kids. Its super short: 16 pages & 4 chapters. At the end is a glossary, summary of animal zodiac and more information including websites. A bit spendy for my taste, but it is the only children's CNY book out there for kindle. Red alert: not compatible with the e-ink kindle, maybe due to color? but is great with the kindle app for iPad.

Luck focus
It does an ok job of explaining Chinese New Years, but I did not like the focus on luck. I understand that luck is a big part of the celebration and they are attempting to build up luck for the next year.... but luck is not real.Santa Claus, luck, and the Easter bunny are not real. Why do we celebrate what we know is false? How can we change holidays so they focus on things that matter? So this book has inspired me to do holidays in a very different manner than others.

Best book about Chinese New Year for preschoolers
This is the Chinese New Year book to read to a child's preschool class. I wanted to read one for a "family share day" and basically bought all of them from Amazon looking for an appropriate one. I thought it was going to be Bringing in the New Year by Grace Lin, but that book was totally not well suited (it just kept repeating "where is the new year? is it here yet?" and the like, which isn't particularly insightful, and focused a bit too much on money). This book is the perfect representation of Chinese New Year traditions, without too much a focus on money and spirits and luck. It also has enough text to read aloud, but not too much.

Perfect!
Iβm a teacher and this book was perfect for my multicultural winter holidays lessons. Suits grades 1-5 or ages 7-11. This whole series of books is fantastic. You cannot go wrong with cloverleaf books... especially if you are interested in adding diversity and multicultural learning into your classroom.

Not very good interactivity compared to other Kindle purchases for kids.
It's ok book in terms of story. I bought the Kindle version, and it isn't the best I've seen, a bit difficult to read...small font. When you press on it, you can increase the font, but it doesn't work very well. For the price, it's not worth it.

Enjoy the Lunar New Year
The text was done very well to help the reader get a real sense of what Chinese New Year is all about. The cartoon illustrations are nice as well.

Just a brief intro into CNY.
Not as in depth as I would have liked it to be. Is more geared towards an american audience
