this product was great originally but after using one time, it started making a massively loud cranking sound. I tried different alternatives (which some did seem to help) and even checked the internal gears. It still continue to make cranking noises and would constantly skip gears. i was advised to contact Craft Destiny for a replacement, which i did such when after trying several options to fix the sound myself. i contacted them about a week ago and still have yet to receive a response even though their auto response is 1-2 business days. its been 5+. I do like this product but you cant even tune out the grinding sound because of how loud and constant it is. Not to mention, i can barely wind up my yarn before it starts clanking and taking 45 + minutes to get one small skein completed. I hope to hear back from Craft Destiny soon because i do want to give this product a chance...but right now, i would have to tell people its not worth it. if i do get a replacement, and it resolves the problems, i have no problem reverting my comments.Update from my prior feedback with extra stars now: I was put in touch with Craft destiny who immediately sent me a replacement to correct my first issued one. I really do love it's easy setup, sturdiness and effectiveness...can't wait to start winding again!! The customer service was exceptional as well in responding to me with such kindness and understanding my prior frustration!

This product really helps make yarn cakes from skeins. It’s super easy to use and attaches to pretty much any countertop. I use it for all of my yarn balls and it makes them more compact and easy to unravel. I don’t use many of the extra items because I already have those same things. However I can see if you didn’t have those items, they would be helpful.

I thought I'd have to do something crazy in order to get this to wind my skeins of yarn up into nice yarn cakes, but this thing was a breeze! Probably one of the simplest set ups I've ever seen. The photos on the directions were not great, but you don't need them anyway. Just clamp it to a table, thread your yarn through the hole and into the slot in the center of the bobbin, and start cranking the handle!My only complaint is that it can't wind up my entire skein into a cake because the metal arm gets in the way. It would have been nice to wind the whole skein into a cake, but it's fine. The item still works great, and the price compared to a lot of similar products is awesome. I definitely recommend!Note: you may want to put something between your table and the clamp if you have a cheaper compressed wood type table. The clamp made a few indents in my table, which I knew would be a possibility when I clamped it on there. Just an FYI for some of you if you want to keep your table in pristine condition!

I'd say 4.5 Stars. I didn't know what to expect, but I'm very happy I bought this. I've been winding every skein of yarn I own since I got it. I put the skin onto a paper towel holder and thread through to the winder. Works very well. Very easy to assemble--really nothing much to do--but could be a little sturdier. Could have been sturdier plastic components, butI would recommend this winder. There was a larger model made of metal but it seemed too big for what I needed.

The media could not be loaded.  I hated crocheting when the yarn was left in its original form. And by form I mean the way you guys it at the store. The yarn would flap around and there were times that it was all bunched up. I would have to stop counting to unravel up some slack. This little gadget here made it 1,000% easier. The yarn just unravels on its own so smoothly. It's not easy getting it rewrapped and that's more because of how the manufacturers wrap their products. I only say "wrap" because I don't really know what to call this process. So you all know what I mean. But it's so light weight but it's kinda bulky. I haven't really found a way to take it apart so storing it is a bit difficult.

I am so thrilled with this yarn winder. It's only slightly different from some of the models that are $10-15 cheaper and make you want to scream. The cheaper model (which is getting returned) was more laborious than winding a ball of yarn by hand. The extra money spent on this model is well worth it because the very subtle improvements on this model make winding yarn a breeze. 3 improvements were immediately appreciated. 1) The clamps have rubber pads to help prevent scratches on your table. 2) The base part of the winder (not sure of the actual name) is curved and smooth, which prevents your yarn from snagging and getting tangled in the gears underneath. 3) The little arm that holds your yarn is sturdy and actually locks into place so you don't have to try and hold it while managing the tension of your yarn at the same time. Again, it looks VERY SIMILAR to some of the cheaper models, but this one will actually make winding yarn a breeze.

This yarn winder is the best one I’ve used so far! I originally got one of the cheaper options (LAMXD brand, $19 on prime day, $24 regularly) you see when searching yarn winders on Amazon but it only wound 3.5 oz, MAYBE 4oz but it was difficult. This yarn winder says up to 4 oz but really can do up to 5 or maybe more depending on the yarn weight and material. Compared to the other one I tried this one creates a nicer more compact cake really quickly. This one costs a little more but it’s so worth it. The little notions bag they sent also had some pretty useful tools, great for a beginner. I definitely recommend this and wish I had gotten this one the first time around. I will be regifting the other one.

Seems to work well.Easy to assemble - only have to attach 1 part and you're good to go.Seems very smooth to wind the yarn, so far I have only wound 2 skeins of yarn up into cakes.Compared to the Knit Picks yarn ball winder, this one seems to be of much better quality.Hopefully it lasts!

This is an amazing product. Makes perfect yarn cakes every time and so easy to use. This company even gives their customers a gift of little knitting accessories with the product. So unexpected but so appreciated. Thank you. I will definitely be buying more from this company.

I love this little machine. I took some leftover yarn to try it out and it worked wonderfully. I felt like a little kid with a new toy. 2020 has been rather stressful, so this was a fun treat, and practical.
