Lonely Planet Peru 10 (Travel Guide)

Preparing for the trip, of a lifetime. Contains history, itinerary templates, maps, 'by region' chapters, etc.. This is a relatively new book, so information is as good and current as it gets. Currently preparing for the trip (with the help of a local guide). Also bought a map (see other review), for the overview.

This brand new, July 2019 version of this guide is not only current but an excellent overview of a very big country Peru.

Nice travel guide. Love Lonely Planet. Would love to say more but COVID-19 put a stop to my trip.

I loved all the historical and cultural context for each of the touristy sites. It helps to actually understand the significance of what you’re seeing instead of just taking photos for Instagram. We didn’t try many of the lodging suggestions but the restaurants were top notch!

Must have for traveling to Peru!

It's a Lonely Planet guide, what more do I need to say?

I've been very happy with most of the lonely planet guides for other countries (e.g. Greece and Slovenia), but Peru is a complete disappointment. The hotels that were suggested (e.g. Hostal el Patio, Benkawasi, Urubamba eco-lodge) and the restaurants (e.g. California Cafe in Huaraz, Cordano in Lima) are all either over-priced or of mediocre quality. I found much better options using google maps, which makes me wonder why I spent money on this book. The only highlight was that someone stole my LP in Machu Picchu, thereby saving me dead weight for the rest of the trip.

There is a little bit about everything!! You should do a lot of your own research, but this book is great at condensing it all. It feels great in your hands and it arrived in great condition!

Exactly as expected from Lonely Planet. Quality guidebook with up to date info on all travel aspect, including suggested itineries. Easy to use. Very happy
