Great watch, happy with it.
Easy set up & Garmin app walks you through the process, although when pairing my Android I did have to go through the troubleshooting steps. It took me maybe 15 minutes of turning on/off the watch, phone & app & then it paired. Once I set up permissions, my phone messages started to come through & it's easy to dismiss them. It doesn't appear you can reply from the watch, but you can read & dismiss or cancel. Seems durable, love the color & features. Having a backlight is great too. The watch face is large, but I find that appealing. I didn't initially buy a watch-face screen cover since the reviews indicated it was scratch resistant, but the face is so large, I'm considering a screen to prevent any scratches. You can't change the watch face with any apps but it had a variety to choose from built in to the watch. If you do change the watch face you can't change colors other than black & white/silver background & foreground information such as time, date, HR etc. Resting heart rate lags a few seconds & when I compare it to my Kardia ecg it is only a beat off, so it seems pretty accurate. It does have a feature too where you can get an alert once your HR reaches whatever limit you set. I haven't even delved in to the GPS functions yet, but it seems it can be mastered if you have a few minutes. I do like that it has some smart watch capabilities but has the feel of an outdoors watch.

It’s worth it! Gshock alternative!
Battery lasts like 4-5 days, and I’m a field engineer, walk approximately 6-9 miles with about 12 flights a day at the plant. Love it, it’s easy to use and customize. It’s a digital g shock, although no direct screen content yet, I’ve banged the edges or doors and equipment and no wear/tear. The band is easy to rinse off and keep clean, G shocks have a tendency to collect buildup underneath if you’re like me and never remove your watch. It’s a lower profile than the Gshock, close but lower so if that’s a complaint you have like I do about G shocks, then this will not catch the backpack straps and shirt sleeves and such. The type of band is better gripping too throughout sweating where a gshock becomes Bambi on ice after sweating bad. Charges fast, it’s a Great alternative to the feminine-aesthetic that most of these watch/trackers resemble. I’ll keep buying it. No doubt. Debating on the next color.😎

understand limitations and capabilities/ detail 1st week impressions
First week impressions...Battery life so far is excellent. When it arrived it was already charged to 75%. I charged it for roughly 30-45 mins before throwing it on. On day 7 without charging it and it just hit two bars. That's with running GPS a few times and it tracking a few workouts.GPS: I've saved coordinates for home and work which are 12-14 miles apart from another and for giggles and poops I tried it out the navigation. Work is in a rural area where my home is more sub urban. Was pretty Accurate when I was driving to my home. Haven't tried anything else GPS wise. Oh, and you can rename the destination from coordinates to whatever you choose.Sleep tracking- first night I had it on too tight I guess and it gave me a small rug burn haha. But so far it knows the time you fall asleep and when you wake up. The app gives you a bar and line graph of your sleep patterns.Tracking workouts- I tried it once with strength training, it was able to keep track of my reps when I was lifting, sometimes ot was off by 2 or 1 reps, but I chalk that up to it reading me grabbing the weights or putting them down.. The app also provides a chart of your workouts with details of the time you went from moderate to strenuous activity.Heart rate- not too bad, it does it's best to read your heart rate and stress levels. I don't expect it to give me 1000% accuracy. When I workout with it I do tighten it up more so it's not so loose for a more accurate read.Compass: haven't used it much yet, only set it up but seems okay.Bluetooth: so far accurate with text messages, and phone calls. Can provide automatic responses at the ready for you to send out.customizable through the app.Garmin app: fantastic thus farOVERALL: I got this watch as a treat to myself because I wanted to get with the times but have a smart watch that wasn't too flashy and was more versatile than the average smart watches only without the fancy shmancy look. Hit the nail on the head with this guy. Im not so much outdoorsy by any means but im a fan of having gear that is multi use and versatile. As long as you know what you're looking for and understand this watchs capabilities and limitations I think you would be comfortable with this purchase. It currently suits my needs and then some. Hope this detail review helps.. Happy new years ya filthy animals!

Amazing Smartwatch With A Couple Quarks
I've now used the Garmin Instinct for two months. It's really an amazing Smartwatch! Samsung and Apple are a bit too flashy for me. To sum it up:Pros:Amazing battery life of 10-16 days depending on use.GPS accuracy is very good.I love the Garmin Connect software. It logs everything. And the badge system is very fun.Price point is great for a good smartwatch.I have put this watch through a lot in two months and it has held up great.Cons:The altimeter and Barometric sensors are on the bottom of the watch. When working out, sweat can give you Inaccurate readings. The internal memory is small and activities fill up the space in about two months. You just need to sync and then clear the watch, but still. The weather app is a bit goofy. I'm still not sure how it gets data, but it is definitely not perfect.Overall, a very solid watch for the price point!
