Really easy to use, very fast and responsive, cooks great pancakes
We decided to shift over from gas (bottles) as as our old hob sprang a leak. we decided to go for an induction hob Our first order was from Argos, but they let us down (we waited 6 six weeks with only a 2 ring portable hob before cancelling as they could not give us a firm delivery date). Ordered this from Amazon warehouse and it was delivered the following day. Fitting, The old hob was a wider 5 burner hob, but luckily the worktop hole was just less than the size needed for this hob, I had to fit 2 1 cm battens to the sides to narrow the original hole slightly, but they do not show. I had to cut about 1cm off the work top at the back. Once done it just dropped in and is held firmly by the supplied spring clips - really easy to do Electrics, This is a 7.2kW hob, it needs its own dedicated supply and electrical installation by a competent person. It has a few different supply configurations, single phase 32A, two phase (L1, L2 + N) 16A and 2 x single phase 16A. Ours was connected to an existing 32A cooker supply. Pan Cooking This hob is an induction type so needs the right type of pan - pure aluminium ones will not work at all, stainless steel, cast iron and aluminium with a steel insert in the pan base should all work (they will say induction on the base - ours do anyway). At setting 9 it heats up a pan at least as fast as gas (faster if you switch on the boost). As with gas it is very responsive with no lag. It will simmer better than the gas as there is no hot spot on the base of the pan, the whole base gets gently heated so is less likely to burn. You have to get used to the pulsing on settings below 9, the unit reduces the heat by applying shorter and shorter pulses of heat as you turn it down. It makes a few odd squeaks and there is a bit of quiet fan noise but it is all well explained in the manual Wok cooking Although it was steel our old flat bottomed wok did not work well the base got very hot but the sides did not get hot quickly. We changed it for a thick aluminium one with the steel insert. That works fine, the aluminium conducts the heat away from the base and up the sides so the sides get hot too. I don't think a round bottomed wok would work at all Having used it for about 1 month I would recommend this hob

Works well and very powerful but has a fan noise and is quite deep
Firstly, this is pretty good and a huge upgrade over my old ceramic hob. This model is the full 7.2kW so very powerful. But beware this one is fairly deep, and also it has a fan. It's not too loud for a kitchen but definitely audible. The 'pulses' of power it does are quite long with long off periods, and this is not as good as a quicker on-off cycle that my mum's Bosch does. But overall great value at £280.

Nice features but loud clicking unlike my replaced unit is wanting me to return it
When my old induction hob died after 12 years, I needed a replacement. I didn't want a cheap Chinese version but didn't want to pay a lot for say a Bosch, so chose a good brand like Samsung. I did need a larger Cooker Control Unit to install this as there was a doubling up on wires. It fitted in well, the controls are easy to understand and suitably sensitive. HOWEVER, at low power levels there is a loud random clicking noise, I've tried all my pans and they all do it so not a bad pan (my previous hob didn't do this). I'm contemplating returning this as I don't know if it's a quality fault or design fault so will give it another couple of days.
