Duty capable flashlight.
I like this flashlight a lot. It's made in the USA and you can tell it's a quality unit every time you pick it up. 600 lumins is plenty when you consider the tradeoff with battery life. I like that the low setting lasts for a really long time. I plan to mount this on a black piece of equipment but I'm strongly considering another one so I have one handy to use.

SUREFIRE QUALITY
This is my first review on Surefire torches. I use to own the standard 6P 65 lumens and even though the feel and quality of it was realy nice the brightness was lacking for me. I would say though the 6P beam is very direct and smooth and you get a sense of pleasure from its functionality. For a torch that is not LED i do miss it.Now my review on the upgrade to the Surefire 6PX Pro 600. Its a very well built torch. The two versions of brightness is realy handy. The 600 lumens LED light is very bright. I was realy impressed from 65 lumens to 600 lumens transition, you get to see the difference. The only reason im not giving this 5 stars is because this torch gets VERY HOT on the 600 lumens setting. I was very shocked how hot it gets and takes a while to cool down. This is a warning to other buyers i would be very careful not to put it in your pockets after a long use. Mine goes in a V70 holster but i could still feel the heat. Other than that it looks and feels Surefire quality. Forgot to mention the battery life on the 6PX Pro is very good being an LED torch.

Get the stronger version!
This flashlight has gone through several power increases throughout the years with the same model number. This is currently the strongest version, 600 lumens. I have older versions that have the same model number but smaller LEDs. So be sure your package says 600 lumens. The one downside is (I think) the flashlight can be a bit slippery. To get a better grip, use the following O-Rings from Lowes:(bigger) BrassCraft "SCB0583" O-ring 9/16" I.D (13/16" O.D.) x 1/8" Wall. I use two of these in the first large groove from the and(smaller) BrassCraft "SCB0584" O-ring 9/16" I.D (3/4" O.D.) x 3/32" Wall in the third groove from the tailcap of the light.Notes:- as an alternative, you can put in the bigger "0583" all three grooves from the tailcap side, but you have to use a larger holster.- there is even a smaller O-Ring that can be used but it still catches in the holster:(smallest) BrassCraft "0581" O-ring 9/16" I.D (11/16" O.D.) x 1/16"- the third groove up from the tailcap is recessed more than the other two. So you can used the smallest O-Ring "0581" in the first two grooves and it will stick out about much as the "0584" in the third, most recessed groove.

what do i know?
I've worked in law enforcement for 20+ years and have always been a fan of these products. I have never been able to kill one of their lights yet, super durable and reliable. I trust these lights when lives are on the line. There are cheaper lights on the market that have similar or even better performance but Surefire has them all on quality and reliability.

2 settings make it a versatile light.
The low power setting (one click) makes this a useful light for working up close in the dark, or anything that you would use a mini maglight for, while greatly extending the battery life. High power setting(two clicks) is very bright, with a good distance and spread.

Always turns on in low mode
I don't like the switching between high and low power. If you've had this device turned off for a few seconds it will always turn back on in low power mode. I would rather it turn on high then be dimmed or better yet, have a way to toggle between modes and have it turn off the same way it was turned on.
