It does have some value
Look- this booklet has obvious major flaws, as noted by other reviewers. However, in a SHTF scenario, this tiny guide has just enough info to allow a reader to meet basic protein requirements in a survival situation. Also, due to its small size it's perfect for a "grab-and-get outta' here" bug-out bag! Thus, it is worthy of 3 stars.

Somewhat Dissapointed
I am somewhat disappointed with this book because all of the photos of insects in the book are black and white photos. They need to be in color to provide a safe guide to which insects are ok to eat without poisoning ones self. It is a very thin book also, not many pages and not that many insects mentioned. In my opinion this book could be a lot better than it is.

Basic Info
This is a beginner's book at best. The pictures help in identification but the rest of the data is basic. Not that I was expecting recipes but there could have been more effort put into the data. A Google search for edible insects would have been more exhaustive.

Safety first!
As disgusting as this is, I found out my nephews were experimenting with eating bugs. I decided to buy this book for them and told them to check in here first because if they ate a bug and got very sick, we would never know how to treat them if we didn't know what was wrong or what they ate. Now they can safely eat the gross little varmints without risk of illness or death! Just by buying this book and giving it to them took away the thrill of bug eating so they haven't done it since, but if they want to, at least they can do it safely!

It is well written but the photographs of the insects ...
It is well written but the photographs of the insects are in black and white, making it a little more difficult to identify the bugs in the field. Would have preferred color photos. Not sorry I bought this book.

good
how many other books are there on this subject? Not many. OK, it doesn't have color illustrations. As with edible plants, you want to be out with people who know what they are doing, and refer back to the book. It has quite a guide. When I was a kid, living in Southeast Asia, they had all kinds of insects for sale in the markets. They were clearly considered a delicacy. The book is a good start, however one does need to put in the practice.

it's a good overview on everyday insects that we all see all ...
It's a very interesting book, but smaller than I'd hoped, which means fewer types of insects being covered. However, it's a good overview on everyday insects that we all see all the time, so I'm still quite happy with the purchase.

Why no color???
My only complaint is that the book lacks color, which in a survival guide is critically helpful especially when someone is unfamiliar with what the text is describing.

Waste of money
Waste of money. There's only a few insects in the book and they are the one's you commonly know.Black and white pictures too which for identifying purposes would make it hard.
