Top Choice For a Narcissist on a Budget
After about a year of ownership I think I can say say this laptop has many high ups and many low downs, enough to turn some people away for sure.Pros definitely start out with the look and feel of the laptop. Although there’s more flex on the screen than I’m comfortable with, the feel and look of the material on the outside are AMAZING. On top of that, having a choice of colors is not something many laptops offer for this price range. So if looks are important for you, the assortment of colors on this laptop will definitely stand out. The large screen size is also a big plus, making setting up two programs side by side like Word and Chrome very comfortable. The screen looks good but a bit dim if you aren’t constantly plugged in, more on that later. And the keyboard size and fit are great, I love the inclusion of the number pad. It takes some getting use to but working with numbers on excel sheets on the go was a important to me. And the addition of a USB-C port makes importing large files from video cameras or hard drives will be quick.Cons will start again on the looks of the laptop. Thanks to the slim size, it will definitely run loud if you run anything it’s not capable of handling comfortably. The battery life also takes a big hit because of the small size laptop. This laptop is my home computer and it’s plugged in more often than not but it taking it anywhere outside it usually has 3-5 hours of battery life if you’re constantly on the screen. It would be enough for my needs but if you’re out all day, definitely expect to need to charge for a bit. You’ll have to turn down the brightness and stay indoors to be able to use it as the screen is a bit dim whenever it’s less than 100% brightness. Also don’t expect to comfortably watch movies at home with out headphones, the speakers are the weakest I’ve seen in any laptop. You’d think the inclusion of two stereo speakers would make it louder but I can firmly say my iPhone sounds much louder than this.If you want a laptop that looks and feels great and you won’t use it for more than a few hours a day, this is definitely the laptop for you. But if you’re looking for a good outdoor on the go laptop, you can find much cheaper options if you’re willing to sacrifice the looks and bright colors.

Good Hardware. Potential Issues with Linux
For anyone looking for a well-performing laptop at budget price, this ASUS seems OK. It may not be the top of specs, but for $700, that's alright. The keyboard has better travel space than I was expecting, and is pleasantly separated and easy to type on.The webcam quality (under Windows or Linux) is not the best, and the audio pickups can seem static-y.If dual-booting: the laptop ships with UEFI and is "locked" to Windows without a little bit of finagling with the BIOS.Also, a recent Intel firmware update "broke" Grub on this model (secure boot is disabled to allow a windows VM, enabled this issue is not present, but then no windows VM) back in June. It remains to be seen when it will be fixed. It's running Kubuntu 18.0 without any issues--full KDE for a non-technical user (not myself)--and they report no big issues with the hardware. It has fared well under video editing while streaming and running other issues--but your performance may vary greatly depending on OS more than hardware. The screen is great, with pretty good viewing angle and very small bezels. It packs a far larger display into a smaller space. The "lip" on the back is a neat idea, but can be uncomfortable to rest on your knees (if working on couch/in bed) for long periods of time.Overall, it is a great budget laptop, well worth it for school or around the house. It is not a gaming laptop, but can edit videos with what appears to be minimal hassle. It isn't very portable--due to it's 15'' size, although it is surprisingly light.Overall, it is a solid budget choice,

Best laptop for its price!
For its current price, this laptop is fantastic. While it doesn't have a touch screen like other higher priced laptops, this ASUS more than holds its own against them. I use this laptop for school and work 5 days a week and on the weekends for personal use and it works perfectly. I've had it for more than 4 months and it works just as well as when it was opened. The keyboard is a breeze to work with. I have nothing bad to say about this laptop. Highly recommended.EDIT after having laptop since November 2018.I have used this laptop heavily for full-time school and work and has been good with some caveats even working from home with its more than 8 hours a day. The battery life not as great it once was but good nonetheless. previously had an ASUS vivobook but got this once since i wanted an ASUS with a number pad. Since November 2018, the only problems i have had is with the audio and wifi adapter. The audio isn't the best, which forced me to get a usb mini speaker. Additionally, the wifi adapter has been dying on me - it doesn't spot any wifi in the area. I took to a shop to get it checked and despite doing a factory reset, the problem persisted. I replaced the wifi adapter (costs around 20 dollars) and this solved the issue. After having it since November 2018, I am happy with my purchase. I have used it a lot and it has been dependable until of late. My ASUS vivobook has not been used as of much but has not had any problems and i have had it since 2016. I'd recommend people look into the zenbook series before getting a vivobook. I would still recommend this laptop though. Its an 8 out of 10 for me.

Name is Sheep! Apple Sheep!
Many years ago, I used to build my own PCs using ASUS boards ONLY! That was the time, ASUS used to sell only motherboards!!Years later, I switched to Apple products and fell in love with them - as we all know why!My current laptop is a MacBook Air late 2018 which cost me close to $2000!! Slower than watching turtle walks ... and tons of cables connected so I can use regular USB drives and etc - you know what I’m talking about!Today, I had a video conf call using my MacBook Air... the quality was so bad that I was asked to switch to something else, IF possible!I remembered this laptop which bought it last December only for some education and online courses!Long story short, the quality of video was 100% for both sides! I could see them so clearly and vice versa!!When done, I thought to myself .. no wonder people call me Apple Sheep! Pay so much for so little only because it’s made by Apple!!As for this laptop, HIGHLY recommended!! And very much user upgradable if you need to add extra RAM, storage etc. Buy them from Amazon (NOT worstbuy ... err .. I mean bestbuy!!) to save tons of $$.Purchased a Win10 Pro license from Amazon also (very cheap!) and upgraded the Home edition that came with this laptop. Some reviewers online say the screen colours are not good etc etc. I don’t see any difference watching HD videos on it compare with my $2000 MacBook Air! And it’s much faster and doesn’t lag.FWIW, installing Win10 from scratch took like 15 minutes. All in all, I am sure this laptop is going to last me forever!! ASUS doesn’t sell garbage like other vendors!!

Good laptop, just not for me
Bought this laptop to replace my old one which was not compatible with Windows 10 and with Windows 7 support ending in January i didn't want to be left vulnerable to any hacking. The laptop by all accounts was very nice, aesthetically pleasing, comes in a few different colours, light weight, has a touch iD login, the charger is also very light and not bulky and the backlit keyboard has three settings of brightness levels. It's even top rated on lists of 2019 best laptops. However I ended up returning it as I primarily use my laptop with it resting in my lap and this was not comfortable to hold there. The ergolift keyboard is great when you're using it on hard surfaces like a desk and especially if you do a lot of writing, I know I prefer the angled keyboard on my desk computer for work. But this laptop was just for personal use which was watching youtube/netflix, listening to music, shopping and going on various social media websites while sitting on the couch or in bed. I could have gotten past this but I could not get past the sound quality, listening to music was alright, not the best but once I changed the settings it was fine. But watching Netflix the sound was just not okay, the speakers are on the bottom of the laptop and you could not get the volume loud enough. Also I don't know if this was just because it was a new laptop but putting in and taking out a headphone jack was somewhat difficult, had to force it in and out. And the fan would sometimes be unnecessarily loud, like stated above I'm not doing anything on the laptop that uses too much processing but the fan, located above the keyboard, would kick in anyways and was very loud.

Great laptop - major disappointment
I loved everything about it and was extremely proud of having bought it as a gift for my grand-daughter. Unfortunately after 19 hours of it's being plugged in the battery hadn't even started to charge. I called Amazon and spoke to a technician who told me it was a hardware problem and for me to return it for a full refund which I did. I liked it so much that I was tempted to keep it anyway but then she wouldn't have been able to use it anywhere but plugged in inside her house or wherever she went. That destroys the purpose of a laptop. Prompt and courteous service. Thank you Amazon.

AVOID AT ALL COST From 4 Starts to 1.... (Mic and Webcam stopped working out of nowhere)
Got this laptop on June 8th, 2020 and was good until...... Webcam and mic stopped working... Asus Vivobook will be the reason why I will get rid of all my Asus products. I started back in the day with an N56VM which lasted 8 years (Not bad for a laptop which was used heavily for gaming and work). After that, I got a Transformers T100 (worked like a charm and still does). Got the T200 sadly, their port was horrible and getting it fixed was more expensive than getting another T200 (It was a common issue of them having a weak port). Well, I told myself its 2 in 1 was a bit disappointed but thought that just to stick to what works. Got another cheap Asus to just get the job done and it worked (I broke this one by accident and that is on me). All Asus Zenfone I've bought have worked fine (Got a new ROG Zenfone 2 recently which I regret even though the phone itself is great). I got an Asus VivoBook S15.The fact that Asus DOES NOT provide those drivers on their website (Like Lenovo, HP, MSI etc...), is a big issue in itself. Its almost like they try too hard to be automated or modern that they count on a software or someone responding in a robotic way to my emails. They offer to call me (provide me a timeframe of the whole week with like a 12-16 hours SPAM). I WORK FULLTIME OKAY? Sadly I got a Zenfone ROG recently but trust me on this one, I will looks elsewhere going forward. 2 weeks after the Webcam died and the driver disappeared (I even reset factory and it didn't work) the mic stops working..... Even better? They DON'T have that driver either.I always heard rumors of bad customer service from Asus but since I never reached them, (I guess thanks to the good products I received) I didn't know how bad it was. I recall their website before had ALL drivers but I guess that is not the case anymore. Waste of money. Didn't even last me two years an $800 dollars laptop. I'm going for a different brand this time. I pay for a webcam and driver for it too worked. This would have been Europe I would have filed a formal complaint with consumer protection.
